Hello fellow forum-ers. I present to you my little bit of Tilea in the form of the merchant, Claudio Violi, along with his house retainers.
Of course to begin I only have a few representatives of House Violi painted and so I will add bits and pieces over the coming days and weeks. I am not sure where it will go, perhaps even an army in the long term. Initially this is for Mordheim-esque skirmishes.
But for now, let us descend upon fair Verezzo, where we set our scene. And what a dark scene it is, for our merchant has just escaped within an inch of his life and rides hard for the towering gates of the city with but a handful of those still loyal. But how long can their loyalty be relied upon? Or rather, how long can it be bought, for our merchants troubles are most certainly stemmed from his purse.
Claudio Violi, son of Guiseppe Violi, a merchant whose influence in the most serene republic of Verezzo was only matched by his boundless wealth.

Francesco de Sanctis, a swordsman unmatched in all of Verezzo. Famed duelist, he once cut the beard of Hanz Hinklebron, a noble of Ostermark, in two after the latter decalred him a dandy and a fop. Appearances can, however, be decieving, as Francesco is eqully adept with the greatsword. One must, afterall, learn to perfect the art of many blades in the pay of such a high profile master as Claudio Violi.

Could you please tell me where you purchased, or how you made, the flowers that grace your bases? Absolutely fantastic pieces.

First of all, thanks a lot so far folks for the kind words.
Some people wanted to know where the models are from. Ok, the 'merchant' is the Duke of Buckingham from the Perry war of the roses collection. I have a few of the other characters I am using for this too. The footman is one of the box of 40 plastic Perry European Mercenaries with a metal swiss Perry head. His greatsword is, as I am sure you can see, from the warhammer militia box set, converted onto the hand that was holding a banner pole.
Could you please tell me where you purchased, or how you made, the flowers that grace your bases? Absolutely fantastic pieces.
I have a little box of scenic brush/bushes. I broke some of the smaller 'twigs' off and used them as the base for the flowers. Before sticking them on I added some scenic glue to the areas where flowers would bud and then dipped them in my 'flower mix'.
The flower mix for the white flowers was a brand of scenic snow I have and the pink was made by scraping some dried acrylic paint from my paint pot and cutting it very very finely into passable flower buds. Of course you can do this with any colour!

That's a great idea. I'm going to have to try that. I would imagine you could apply paint in a thick layer or layers to some glass, then when it's dry peel it off and chop it up as you said.

Outstanding work.
I notice you are basing your figs on round lipped bases and not square or rectangle bases. Are you using your figs for other rule sets or do you just paint for display? I'm suspecting display as the base work you do would not survive gaming I think.
Also, I know that story about your swordsman cuttin the Ostermark nobel's beard in half just isn't true! Nobody would call an Ostermark nobel a dandy, I could see it if he had called an Altdorf nobel a dandy, but never one from Ostermark. :smile2:

:-D First of all, thank you kindly, however, the Ostermark noble called de Sanctis a dandy and a fop, not the other way round! Ostermark was picked on purpose as he was likely some rather hard as nails fellow :P
The bases are round for a few reasons but mainly because I really like this base type, it outlines the models nicer than a GW base in my opinion. If I use them for a game of Mordheim, my gaming group doesnt mind what bases are used unless its ridiculous and I also plan to use them in my groups skirmish games that use other rules (for example a Game of Thrones campaign we have running at the moment). Finally, I will make a display at the end and these slot in nicely :)
Should have two more models to post by Wednesday when my mate arrives up with his camera.

Outstanding figures, very nice indeed. An imaginative use for the Perry mini's especially Buckingham, the basing really sets the piece off. Well done. :biggriin:

Those figures are gorgeous. You are to be congratulated and ... well ... here I am congratulating you: congratulations.
One day I might stray into the realm of acrylics and see what joys lie there. One far flung future day when all the enamel paints in the world have died. Figures like yours are sorely tempting me to make the shift earlier.
