Very nice.

What follows are pictures of my heavily armoured crossbowmen.
(As always you can click on the link beneath the picture to get a bigger photo.)

In case someone does not know the models: They are the RoR regiment 'Braganzas Besiegers' from GW.

Comments welcome.

well done sir! consider me inspired!

You have kept your army very conservative, but without taking anything away from it.  Love the simplicity of it and the overall look!

HOWWWWW!?  Victor I love it but how did you get the chevrons on their shields so perfect?  I painted my 20BBs for a tournament last year and spent hours trying to make some method/template/stencil to get all the shields uniform.  I finally gave up and ripped all the shields off then placed them next to each other- you know eyeballed it, and they came out ... nice  :| ... but yours are perfect!
Dear Friend of Stirland,

Your shoes have been put on backorder. We appreciate your custom.

Hope we are finding you shod,
Stirland

Nice besiegers! I love those models (and therefore hate you for having them).

You have a good taste.

Thanks guys.

They look awesome! How did you manage the banner?

I have put the banner together in Photoshop with a Logo of small german city, that I found on google - Printed it out on normal paper and painted over most areas.

HOWWWWW!?  Victor I love it but how did you get the chevrons on their shields so perfect?

Short answer: I am perfect.  :-D I didn't do anything special tbh.

I was going to say slow and steady patience, but I guess that explanation works just as well!  :smile2:

The name of my old army blog was named 'The army of Castle Reikguard'. I had a reason to name it like that, as I always wanted to build a castle or a part of it at least. I have started 2 years ago already, stopped inbetween and now I want to continue. However I am very slow, so this is all I have for now:

WIP castlegate:

A close up of the door:

As you might notice, it is quite big (42cm!). On the picture nothing was glued together yet ... as I said .. still WIP. Expect the next update in 2 weeks or so, when I'm done with my uni work.

Truly impressive!!  :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

I´m in the middle of a similar project, and you have convinced me that my scale is too little...by the way, can teach us something about the building method?

Thanks.

Maybe my scale is too big  - the problem is ofcourse that I have to stick to that scale now, which probably means a 1m tall keep/donjon, but right now I have enough work with that piece already.

About the construction: It is important to find the right material. In my case it is some isolation foam that normally goes between a wall and wallpaper. It comes it big sheets, but is only 6mm thick, which means you need some kind of construction undearneath (wood, cardboard, other foam). There are ofcourse other isolation foams , which are way thicker and come in colours like blue and pink - but not all of them are that good to work with. The stone stucture is done by 'drawing' and pressing a pencil into the foam - not too much and not too little. PVA glue to put the thing together.

At the moment I am working on a bigger machicolation (?) the door and a drawbridge. After that a portcullis will follow - the full program basically.
I have painted some hard to reach parts of the gate area already and it looks quite good I have to say  :-D. As I said: 1-2 weeks till the next update.

I'm gonna start working on some wooden forts for my kislevites and was wondering where you got your doors, or if you made them.

I have continued to work on the castlegate. This is my progress so far:

The stairs leading up to the top:

A view through the gate and the first painted areas (WIP as well):

The drawbridge, portcullis and the door:

The next update will follow soon, hopefully. I want to finish that thing, so I can get back to my minis again.

Everything is looking great - well done on the Reiksguard Foot.  It makes me want to completely strip the 30 I have and redo them.

Inspirational!   :::cheers:::

How did I miss this?!?  Wow! Your painting is magnificent!

I really like the gatehouse! I dare you to finish the whole castle in that scale!

Now, it looks good without, but if you should want a rougher texture to the stone, I've heard you can get that from pressing a real rock into the foam.
