Grand Sigmarite army of Stirland, witch hunter update.
« on: October 05, 2007, 07:57:48 PM »
Ok so its not so grand yet. Ive only just started. But i finished some guys and couldnt wait to show someone so.... Oh wait,   I promised a long long time ago to post my Maximilian von Schädel after he was finished so here he is first.   You can see the green stuff work on the front page of this site towards the bottom.
He will be a charactor in the Stirland army (I think)

Now some state troops.  I want these guys to look poor and tired from their constant battle with the undead so i took off a lot of the fancy detail and used the barefoot model even though a lot of people think hes dumb  :icon_wink:

The (start of the) Langwald Swords....

The Siegfriedhoff Spears... (some of them anyway)

Comments and suggestions welcome!  I've learned so much from people on this site! :-D :-D

Oh Brian... I love hte green! Very Ork Skin like, but that's why I like it!

I love the darker tone the Stirlanders have.

Your woodwork is fantastic on the spears.

Love the feather/fluff crap on spear -  too.

Love the standard bearer's pose - gonna yoink that.

The man pulling the sword out of his scabbard has ... really long arms though...

In general I like the little details;
1. patches of yellow and blue cloth sewn on.
2. dark and gritty feel to the green and metal areas

I love them, the mould on the banner is excellent

The man pulling the sword out of his scabbard has ... really long arms though...

I noticed that, your hands are supposed to go down to the middle of your upper leg, his seem to go passed his knees, apart from that excellent.

Oh damn, that Maximilian is awesome, but not just as awesome as the champion pulling his sword from the scabbard! I so wanted to do such a thing with my orcs, but it never seems to work out. You howver did it fantastically! Kudos!

The wood on the spearmen's spears is very good indeed, like Sojung said. The shaven faces all together.. I love it!   :-D Very empirish.. ( if thats a word )

Well, its too late to do anything about the guys long arms. I didnt notice it in real life  :eusa_wall: I guess I'll just have to call him ape-man or something. You know those stirlanders, the're all a little wacko,  its the inbreeding

I love the captain drawing his sword.  I'll have to try that out for my Empire force.  One thing though, the captain with the pistol looks like a Talabheimer (or is it Talabecland?) from the front with the red/yellow scheme.  I guess I have one more thing.  The spearmen with the Bretonnian heads are screaming for feathers, but then, I'm a feather-fan so...  In any case, keep the Stirlanders growing strong.  Hopefully I'll be able to paint some Stirlanders up one day.

Thanks everyone.
@philhelm.  The Capitan at the top is a Talabeclander. He was from the last conversion contest but i just finished painting him so I just threw him in this message. I might use him in the army and I might not. As for feathers... I like feathers too but one of the things I'm doing to distinguish this poor stirland army from other provincial armies is taking out all the fluff and frills on their uniforms. These guys are poor and very religious. No feathers, fancy armour, or expensive troop types.  Only basic core troops with a strong sigmarite theme and possibly some sigmarite nights. I'm working on a unite of the Knights of the Twin Tailed Orb for example. When I make an Averlander army I will go feather crazy!!

@ mudgrunt,  I was in the middle of my knights and a unit of crossbow men when this conversion contest came along. I but everything aside to work on a mounted Standard bearer.  I hope I can finish him in time.

I really like your army and I think you should include the converted hero he looks great and I think he would fit in. I would like to add that the green is a really nice color would you mind sharing how you did it?

Do you know what Stirland is most famous for in all the Empire? Its inbreeding :icon_eek: Do you know what the second most famous thing from Stirland is?  Its Huntsmen :icon_exclaim:.  So I needed some for my army. I acually made these guys a while ago but with a Stirland army in mind.  I used a darker green for them to set them apart as a unique unit and since they creep around in dark forests, I think its better for them.
