Hello everyone I finally took pictures of my army. Just to let you know I'm 15 years old and I've been playing Warhammer for i think a little over a year. Now for the army background. I really hate fantasy (yeah i Know its Warhammer Fantasy Battles) so i tried to keep to a historical theme. I'm trying to do a more Mediterranean feel to my guys (I'm Sicilian so i painted using the Sicilian colors). I'm a big history buff. Any units or guys with the red/yellowish colorscheme were painted after Christmas. its pretty easy to tell which units i painted when i first started playing. The yellow is actually a little more orangish than how they look in the pictures. Sorry bout the size of pics.
Thanks
Some spearmen and militia gonna be used for detachments now

hey your mother, pretty good paint job on your army, liked the homemade movement trays and some of your scenery is pretty neat also. You seem to have developed a style of painting already, it usually take new painters several years of experimentation to get to the point where you are now. There is nothing wrong with your painting skills, Keep going and you will get better and better. I look forward to seeing more stuff from you. steveb
-
Wow you have some pretty sweet old models in your collection mom. I really like the way you painted them! keep posting pictures! :biggriin:
-
Fantastic, I wish I could paint as good as you when I was 15.
Thanks for posting, its stuff like this that makes me keep coming back!
:eusa_clap:
-
Ooooh! Nice stuff!
And now we can all say "Your mother painted better than you at 15 years age!" to anyone we dislike, and it would be true! :smile2:

Tu sei Siciliano? hehe so you are my next door neighbour . Cool army by the way. I like the dogs of war but for some reason which I fail to point out,I feel that the Bretonnian men at army fit awkwardly :|. Nice colour scheme and terrain too. :::cheers:::
-
Looks pretty good, but what time period are you going with?

Looks pretty good, but what time period are you going with?
Im trying to stay within the years 1450-1530. The Pizarros are a little past that but i had to get them b/c i got all 40 of em for $20.
there will be more pics soon i gonna start painting 16 handgunners and 16 spearmen. Actually i did a test model for the handgunners but he got cut off in the pictures. He was next to the bretonnian horsmen in the 5th picture

Hi Your Mother,
There's something wrong with the "More Pizzaros and Bretonnians" pic - I have tried to fix it but unsuccessfully.
Perhaps you can go and edit the original post yourself
-
yeah the pic didnt work for that but the one under the box with the red x is the right picture,
-
great work, and lovely to see such an impressive army painted up in a little over a year!

lol, at first I thought you added the 'My General' one as a joke
Very Cool army, I first saw your name and my initial thought was "oh great..." but you seriously surprised me with mature, thought out posts and an incredible paintjob and army
The banners look amazing too, is it free-hand?
:::cheers:::
-
Wow! Awesome army! Your painting is definitely a lot better than mine was a feter a year... But then again I was 7 after my first year of WHFB. Seconded on the banners. Also, I like how you blend the old with new models, it looks really nice. Are you going to use the monkeys as martyr markers for you flaggies (yet to come)? I think they would be very good for that!

7 years old? I thought WF was 12+

7 years old? I thought WF was 12+
I think that's only a suggested age, I started when I was 9/10, it hasn't scared me, much :icon_evil:
I'm 16 now, so about your age, Your Mother, and you're painting is much better than mine, but then again, I lack the patience needed.
I like your army a lot :biggriin:
Thanks
Hooch
-
Thanks for all the compliments guys. :-D But to answer some questions...
[Are you going to use the monkeys as martyr markers for you flaggies (yet to come)?/quote]
No im not going to have any flaggies in my army, just not my style. im still trying to work out some rules for the monkeys maybe ill ask that in the Electors Forum.
[The banners look amazing too, is it free-hand?/quote]
Most of them are. except for the DOW ones and militia, they're paper. I just paint the base colors and add a decal. The decal on the swordsmen flag is actually 30yrs. old.
And here are some greatsword that i forgot to take a pic of, and a test handgunner.

Well, I don't know about the rest of his stats, but he certainly looks like he causes terror! :engel:

Just thought i wuld give a small update. I pretty much finished my new general, xcept i forgot to put sand on the base before i primed it. :eusa_wall: but its no big deal. im pretty happy with how he turned out, esp. the armour. I had a hard time trying to focus the camera so sorry about the blurryiness.
General -right side, I tried to do a design on the lance but i didnt work so well.
General-left side i happy with the letters on the shield but its kinda hard to see.
My next units that I will hopefully start soon.

Nice work on the new general man! I also like the armour and the thing you did on the hilt of the lance. There is just one thing: he doesn't seem to have been shaded. If he hasn't, I recommend doing so, it's not at all hard. Just keep some tissue at hand to suck up the excess water and all the water if something goes bad.
-
Obi: yeah he's been shaded using black ink. its not so easy to see in the pictures. You can see where the ink dried on the horse's armour in the second pic.
-
Yes, I see it now too. Keep up the good work man!
-
Well here are some handgunners I just finished. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. I was actually going to post them after I painted a standard bearer and musician, but I actually kind of got my hand messed up bad a couple hours ago so I'm not sure when I will paint them. I'll update this soon though. Well comments and criticism are welcome.

Just an update. The banner says "the die is cast" in Latin. C&C appreciated.

Looking better all the time, I assume that your hand is better now, what happened? Glad to see that you are back at it. Don't neglect your homework and school, high marks equate to a better job which means more money which means you can buy more of the stuff you want. Keep up the good work and practice practice practice. steveb
-
Nice work! I like it. Nw, do you also know when Caesar spoke thoe famous words?
-
Those handgunners are absolutely marvellous - I love 'em. And the standard bearer is most excellent.
I must say, I should make more of an effort with my bases. I have thousands of figures on the same style simple green flocked base, as I thought over-doing bases made a figure look too 'busy'. But your bases look good so a bit of fancy basing can work!
-
@ obi: Caesar said that phrase when crossing the Rubicon in 49 BCE, thus igniting Civil War in the Roman Republic. Sorry, I have a soft spot for ancient history, and the question was calling my name...:p
-
correct.
-
Thanks everyone.

Its kind of long story with what happened to my hand, but i got a fairly deep puncture wound between my ring finger and my pinky. I keep my grades up and I only paint on the weekends.

Thanks I kind of hate adding the dead grass I used to my bases its very tedious.

Well I thought i would do a small update. The first mini I will show I suppose is a conversion. I found the Bret Knight body and shield on the floor at my GW so I'd figure to make a mini. The halberd is from militia box.I made him into a Bret spearmen/halberdier, what I like about him is he'll help make my Brets fit in a little better. Afterall hes got the pants. I always wanted to think as that unit as a bunch of levied troops who couldn't afford good weapons.
The other pics I have shown you guys earlier but since they are examples of my better work and some of my favorite units I have ,I thought I should show them properly. They are now magnetized too except for the Alcatani. I'd appreciate any tips you have.
Thanks
Guy

Thanks, LOL Guy Fawkes thats a good idea for a mini. Could make him standing on a bunch of powder kegs or something. Past my time period though.

Well time for a small update. To start off, late last month I got back from my vacation to Sicily and this is the first project I've completed since I got back. Its a metal cannon that I had lying on my desk collecting dust. It had a spring that let you shoot things out of it, but it broke so I decided to draft it into the Imperial army. I'm not very fond of the carriage, its too navalish for my taste. The decorations on the cannon come from the artillery sprue and the 6th ed. shield sprues. The paint didn't come out the way I wanted but I guess its decent enough. Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Before After

DUde your mom got a nice army!
-
My mom sure has a nice army ;)
-
Well I finally finished my spearmen off. :icon_razz: I was going to give more of an update but my camera died. I was thinking about taking a picture of the guys with the fancy uniforms from that unit because I'm really happy with how some of them turned out. Ill post a picture of a WIP unit filler. Let me know what you think. All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

Cor, great painting on those, nothing like mass troops. Top job
-
Crisp paint job and solid colour combo. These two make your army stand out. I really like your rendering of the yellow and more especially the metal parts
-
You've made those unipose fellows look really mean... I don't know how you did it but I love it
-
Well I got the camera working again. First the pics of the more flashy spearmen.
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm70/Your_Mother08/100_1227.jpg) (http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm70/Your_Mother08/100_1226.jpg)
Now to the unit filler I promised. I couldnt take WIP pics but this should suffice. Anyhow I mad the basic stuff a Gamesday. Cut the ribbons and junk off the waist of the yellow/red guy. I sculpted the mail skirts on the yellow guy and the man on the ground. I also sculpted the baskplate on the yellow guy which I wasnt planning on doing but I had to cover up what was on his back. Really happy with how it turned out and lot of fun to paint. It didnt take me long at all to paint it up. I think i might wanna add a unit of the black/white/red guys since they were so fast to paint. Anyway before I get too off subject let me know what you think.
Thanks

Great unit filler, I like that a lot, and very nice metals too :smile2:
-
Amazing army, really nice color scheme :eusa_clap:
-
Now that is an especially cool colour scheme. I really like your painting and to me your army has a lot of character. Heck it looks like a medieval/renaissance Mediterranean army, like Aragonese or Sicilian (very near and also similar to the Armies of my home island of Malta at the time). Keep up the good work. PS: lovely GS work there :eusa_clap:
-
The unit filler is great!
I quickly thought about orks.
"So my Talabeclander Freund we are all part of ze same Empire.
I suggest we treat each other wiz respect and..."
"Be quiet Ostlander scum. Feel my cold steel you bull lovin' idiot!"

Yep, they remind me of the Spanish. All you need are some 5th ed. hand gunners and you're set :::cheers:::

Thanks everyone

Yeah now that you mention it they do. The Spanish did control the place around that time . Heres something I made today. Its a statue of Alfonso the Great. I sculpted the mustache. Actually im really happy with how it turned out esp. considering it only took about 2 hours to finish and is completly ridiculous. :biggriin:

Nice job on the unit filler. :-D Does it look weird to have some guy from another province being knocked off in the middle of your units? lol :-D Oh, and love the work on the unipose spearmen. I'm almost tempted to pick up some more to try and emulate your painting style :-)
-
Nice spearmen man! That filler looks great too, and as always, your painting is outstanding. I love your work, so keep it up!

Thank you Obi and Stretch.

It doesn't stand out too much. But it doesnt really make sense at all. I guess the men just let them walk into the ranks.

Well its time for an update. Warhammer has taken the backburner to airsofting for right now, but I just completed this guy. Battle standard Bearer, I hated the mohawk so I got rid of that. Let me know what you think.

Just a little something I bought at my local flee market.

-
That helmet looks really good.
-
Not really a fan of that helmet, but it still looks okay. The fact that others, other than myself, are using that figure rocks, as it makes the plastic (and metal "griffon" standard bearer) 7th edition one(s) look like shit.
Good choice of colors also, Talabecland is a good scheme.
-
hahah i love the general on the first page...made me laugh , but other then that your collection is fantastic, i to am using brettonians as my spearmen and have kit-bashed them abit, but yours are great well done! :eusa_clap:
-
I don't like the mohawk either but I am not a big fan of the bret helmet though. But it fits your army very well as you have a bret unit in it. Good colours and nice armour.
I can't propose a better solution of getting rid of the mohawk as I am myself searching for a good option that I can put on my BSB's head.
-
It's a great job so far!
I belong to the fans of that helmet.
There is just a thing I'm not a fan of : your home made banners may be a bit flashie, and don't really fit to the rest of your army. It is just my opinion though...
Good luck for the painting.
-

Well if its the banners with the wolf on it, I found those on the internet but were more of a temporary solution. As for the others I'm going to try and make them more flashy. Especially on the greatswords and crossbowmen.
-
Well been awhile since I've had anything to paint. So I picked these guys up last week, must say I was pretty pleased with the set. I'm trying to keep gunpowder to a minimum in my army and any handguns I use are going to be matchlocks, so pistoliers and outriders especially will not be used. I have think thinking of the idea of converting mounted crossbowmen for awhile now, and this is what I got. Most major converting I've done yet. So let me know what you think, esp. any ideas you have for some rules on using them. (I was thinking of decreasing the range of the crossbow since its used on horseback it be harder to span a more powerful crossbow.)

-
Great looking conversions. I've been working on something similar but suing 3rd Ed metal figs but yours look great. Always liked mounted crossbow, and have used then in my DoW army before using old historical models. Like the ides of yours.
For rules for Mounted Crossbow you could use these from an old frequenter of W-E.com Aldebrand Ludenhof on The Hammer and Anvil site;
http://www.talismancy.com/hammer/portal.php?page=23
Simple rules but they work. Don't think you want to reduce the range of the crossbow, bt I understand your thinking here, but maybe you would want to keep the move or fire crossbow rule but that would negate the fast cavalry rule a bit but might make them a bit more interesting.
-
Those crossbowmen on horseback look very good. I'm likely going to be doing something similar, to add to the Tileans I'm making, although likely more armor without the puffy sleeves. Look forward to seeing your's painted. :icon_cool:
I'm ok if the range was decreased to 24" to represent light crossbows. Perhaps using the fast cav rules with alterations could work, incorporating move and shoot, with a reduced effectivesness at firing when they move. Wouldn't it be neat, to send a fast cav unit to take a spot on the board, and be in a position to fire the crossbows effectively from 12", yet flee if need be from the enemy on their turn?
-
I love the conversions.
BTW, it's 3/6/09 unless you posted this from the future, at which point who should I bet on?
-
Europe. Time difference.
Awesome job! I'd make them outriders.
-
Europe. Time difference.
Ahem... Obi... think about it... There isn't a 1 month time difference between USA and Europe.
Heck, even the 20 year time difference with the USSR is gone....
-
Mhm, let alone a three month time difference.... But point taken.
-
Europe. Time difference.
Awesome job! I'd make them outriders.
Thanks, But making them outriders would defeat the whole purpose of making mounted crossbowmen.
On a different note, what do you guys think about adding the pistolier bits? I tried adding some but i coundlnt really find a spot that looked good.
-
Which pistolier bits are you looking to use?
-
Which pistolier bits are you looking to use?
Its the little pack thing, I wanna call it a cartrige box or something. Main reason I want to use it so at least the have a place to put their arrows ( or bolts in this case)
-
I believe the boxes are for powder, like those used with the handgunners. Don't know what mounted crossbowmen from the renaissance used to carry their bolts.
-
Cool army, mate :::cheers:::
I really hate fantasy (yeah i Know its Warhammer Fantasy Battles) so i tried to keep to a historical theme.
Actually that makes perfect sense - how else would you get a chance to kick butts of all those hated orcs, elves, and the rest? ;)
-
Really great work. Nice looking army.
-
Well the update for this has been long overdue. I haven't had internet for the past 3 weeks :icon_evil: and just got it back Wednesday. It took me a month just to get the primer for these guys. They've been done for awhile now. Anyways nothing special really, my standard paint job. Let me know what you think.

Veramente belli bravo ^^ i miei complimenti italico
very good work
-
they look cool. i like the red and yellow on their arms. good job mate
-
I like the idea. Makes me want to do my mounted handgunners idea more. Only issue is my idea is from araby, so be alot harder <_<
Great job overall.
-
Well it's been awhile since i've gotten any new models. Got this guy as a prize at the Chicago Games Day. Im guessing this is Kurt Helborg, the blister pack said it was a Grandmaster. Also, when was this model produced?
C&C welcome...
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm70/Your_Mother08/100_1586.jpg) (http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm70/Your_Mother08/100_1584-1.jpg) (http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm70/Your_Mother08/100_1582.jpg)

This particular model was released as a generic Grandmaster, that was used as a Reiksguard grandmaster, then named Kurt Helborg later. I *think* released in fifth edition?
Quite a nice model, do you have a unit of Knights you'll be running with him?
-

He will be with one of my knight units posted earlier in the thread, I repainted one unit to match my new color scheme.

Nope, that particular figure was released in the early 90's with the first Empire Army book and was named Kurt Hellborg (the original special character fig for him).
The figure was then relabelled over the years along with the other elector count characters, the original supreme patriarch (a bright wizard on horse) and the original Ludwig Schwartzhelm.
I think it was 3rd edition at time of release.
Cheers,
Dante

Ah, thank you for the info. This model is probably older than me.
To anyone who is following this blog, im currently repainting my swordsmen to my new color scheme. I may also post some pictures of a destroyed church or a Marauder vignete, both still WIP.
-
I believe the boxes are for powder, like those used with the handgunners. Don't know what mounted crossbowmen from the renaissance used to carry their bolts.
The crossbow quivver is the little trapezoidal bag that is carried on the hip of all of the new handgnner/crossbowmen models (looks like a big purse, but frequently with a skull on it).
I guess on the handgunners it represents a kit bag for all of the necessary doodads and whatnots they require to keep thier guns going, but that style was also commonly used for crossbow bolts.
If you've got a few boxes of the new troopers and pistoliers you should have a few spares for your mounted crossbowmen.

Looking forward to seeing them. I looked back over your thread, and everytime I do, the color scheme is just super, so I hope you mean the swordsmen that look white and orange are getting the yellow :icon_question:

This particular model was released as a generic Grandmaster, that was used as a Reiksguard grandmaster, then named Kurt Helborg later. I *think* released in fifth edition?
Quite a nice model, do you have a unit of Knights you'll be running with him?
Nope, that particular figure was released in the early 90's with the first Empire Army book and was named Kurt Hellborg (the original special character fig for him).
The figure was then relabelled over the years along with the other elector count characters, the original supreme patriarch (a bright wizard on horse) and the original Ludwig Schwartzhelm.
I think it was 3rd edition at time of release.
Cheers,
Dante
Oops, my bad. Thanks for the info.
-
One final correction, it was released for 4th Edition not 3rd.
-
@Gamespoet- Yes I am painting the swordsmen to the red and yellow scheme.
@Pistol Pete- The mounted crossbowmen actually do have the bag on their hips, you just can't see it in some of the pics.
-
Just a little something I made at Games Day. Good practice for painting skin. I tried to do some mud on the figures but the camera wouldnt focus right. so you cant see it.

Well I have returned to the warhammer hobby after a two year absence. Recently I have been looking at my models in the display cabinet of my room and decided that i should give them some new company. So I went and bought some state troops with the goal of making the models at least viewable to my eyes. I cut off most of the stuff that the figures have on their bodies (skulls, etc.) The greenstuff on the bases was just to use up some of the extra.

UH oh- what vile creatures will emerge from the slime? Im going to remake the spearmen from the first page into halberdiers. Sort of a teaser i guess. I most likely wont paint anything until the supposed june realease.

My old Soldiers of The Empire boxes are the gift that keeps on giving too! Great work! :biggriin:
-
Wow really nicely painted hgunners :)
alsow big like for that unit (men at arms) -I alwaust wannted to have one unit like that :)
Grandmaster is nice and impresive, and your halbardiers(greenstuffed) are so awsome!!! :biggriin:
cheers :)
-
just thought i should get some feedback on these knights. I will paint them up as Knights of the blazing sun. C&c welcome.
Also, how do you paint the armour of the rider for KOTBS?? I asked a worker at my GW and his tutorial was a drybrushing of tinbitz over black... :x

they look great just like te rest of your army!
-
Just an update. I"d like to ask for your opinions on these guys. The two figs on the left are my standard old style of painting. the two on the right are a new style i've been experimenting with. It involves a lot more technical skill and so involves a lot more time than my old method of painting. I washed the yellow with chestnut ink then followed it with the same base yellow then a highlight. Im happy with it but I dont like the red.
Want do you guys think??? They are still WIP so I have no problem with changing things

old new

A good tip on black armour, for KOTBS, is painting it black, adding details in yellow and giving it a coat of clear varnish. It will make it look a bit like a black car with decals. Good job on the army! :::cheers:::
Shadowwolf
-
I like the yellow on the new guys to the right. Looks really good! My eyes want to interpret the black lining on the old guys as a black colour on their uniform instead of shades. The shading on the new guys are much more smooth and convincing.
But what is wrong with the red?
-
yeah you got some style mother!
-
Sorry for the pic sizes. The statues on top of the filler are from Zvezda. C&C welcome.

Looking for C&C on this, Test model for a unit of knights of the blazing sun. This is still very WIP but im looking for some brutally honest feedback. I plan on gloss varnishing the horse's armour. However its the knights armour that im worried about. What I have is much too orange, im looking for a more brassish color. I want the knight's armour to be the same as GW's, what color do you all recommend????????
-
........... brutally honest feedback.
looks like crap.... lol
whats the equil. colour now for Dwarf Bronze?
-
It most certainly don't look like crap, however most areas could use a little more shading. Try out some washed if you haven't already.
As for the armour, I think you could use any gold colour and shade that with a brown wash... I think the gold you used on the barding would work. Or mix a gold colour with brown if the previous didn't work (as I don't use metallic colours, I'm not really sure though :P).

NOT the whole paint job ::heretic::
Just the knights armour.... as Spjuth said above

Actually the gold on the barding is the same as on the knight, but washed with chestnut ink, probably the mistake. :icon_confused: I"ll try to wash is with a brown and see how it turns out. Thanks
-
Hey, nice army! Very high quality on the paint job after only a year of practice. =D
-
For brass I always used the old Shining Gold, (The one i the hex pot BEFORE the last two or three sets) I'm not sure if the new line has a comparable color. It was a mellow yellow color, much nicer than the overtinted ones they had in the last set.
-
different color, let me know what you think...

Love the sun emblem on the barding. May steal that for a new unit in my Compagnia del Sole.
As for the armour comments - I think the camera might be making the armour look a bit pink. Or maybe it is my eyes?
-
Actually it might be the light. If he's using incandescent rather than daylight bulbs. The incandescent gives a yellowish tint to everything, the more expensive daylight bulbs have a more blueish tint.
-
Looks good :biggriin:
-
Much better!
Not sure I like all that Gloss varnish on the barding and horse tail though..

I used an ink on the tail, I haven't highlighted it yet so that will cut down on the shine.

That is the camera, and my light. In reality the armour looks more like brass.

Finished my Knights of the Blazing Sun.They look better in life, in these pictures the armour has a pinkish tint that isn't really there. I may add shields later. Let me know what you think.
I apologize for the camera quality and pic sizes.

I also like cheese by the way.

Thanks, I may add shields to some of them in the future, but I am not sure yet.

Just some kitbashed swordsmen from the archer box. The new archer kit has to be one of my favorite kits ever. C&C welcome.

Nice Conversions! I really like the shield patterns. :::cheers:::
-
Nice! The round, smooth shields look very good on those archers.
-
Wow those kitbashed figures look good, I have to agree with you that Archers box is incredibly ubiquitous! As c & c goes on them, maybe a little wash of a darker shade at the base of the lighter feathers to give more contrast and more tones of colour? They look great, nice and warm colours and the shields are really eye catching, thanks :)
-
I'm just going to join the crowd in saying that it's a great army! :::cheers:::
-

I agree. I tried a few different ways of painting the feathers, none of which I am happy with. I'll add a wash to them.

Here is my display board that I entered into my local GW's Armies on Parade. Nothing special, but very quick to make. I apologize for the picture quality; my camera wasn't focusing properly.

Solid work!

Looks nice.
Where are those statues from? I mean... If they are non-gw you could get expelled because it has to be only GW (as far as I know).
Maybe we should start a "show your AoP". I have one myself waiting to be finished (the german AoP-Day is on Jule 19th)
-

Correct, those are Zvezda mini's. I wasn't worried about them because 1)I knew I wouldn't win (I was the only fantasy army so there was some bias) and 2) If they said I wouldn't be eligible I would just take them off the board.
-
I recently finished repainting these crossbowmen. I also tried out the white and yellow color scheme, so let me know you think of it.

Thanks. The shields were made using plugs from furniture. They are used to cover holes left when you dont use a slot for a shelf or something. I think they came with a desk and some maybe a table I have. Sorry if that doesnt make sense.
-
Well I wanted to work on something different and came up with this. It is an Emhar 1:35 scale MK IV WWI tank. Basically, I wanted to have more of a steampunk style tank. So, I got rid of the machine guns and I added gatling guns. I ran out of the barrels so the one side has shorter guns. (let me know what looks better). Overall, some pretty minor conversion work. I may eventually convert up some Boer War looking Imperial guardsmen to go with it.
Let me know what you guys think.

I really like it. To up the steampunkishness I would make it look more Victorian - that is a key feature of the steampunk vibe (also, nodding approvingly over the cosplay girls and muttering "Dat brass").
I would replace the "railing" along the top with something more in the "wrought-iron scrollwork" look - perhaps even something modeled after an iron fence? Similarly, the smaller armored plates at the bottom of the track skirts (that bridge the join between the wider plates) I would replace with some kind of ornate, perhaps floral design. You could cut it out of plasticard and make rivets with rod. I am thinking of a design similar to the one you see on some ornate hinges? You could paint them as brass.
Also, the front D-shaped armor plate on the tracks looks very modern - I would be tempted to cut that completely off and replace it with a big cog (perhaps Lego?) on struts (ornate iron, again!) supporting the wheel. Very visible cog work!
-
If you ran out of the same gatling guns I would put both the long ones in the forward facing sponsons, and the shorter ones in the rearward facing ones. Seems that it would look less out of place that way.
-
It needs a few more pipes here and there , and maybe a nice turret with the original empire steam tank metal captain popping out the top !
-
If it was me I would get rid of the side thingymajingies all together and replace them with some warhammeresque reliefs.
I'd also try to get some wood in their (maybe on the roof)
I like darknights' suggestions as well.
btw, have you seen these: http://shop.spartangames.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=DLKB33

I agree completely, I was hesitant about those rails at first. I think the wrought iron railing would be perfect. A window's walk would look pretty neat.

Actually Dystopian legions single handedly inspired me to start this.

I think I may use the whole empire steam tank turret. I looks like I wouldn't have to really change it.

Hey, i Knowles it whas long time ago but, how did you do you helbarders like that? I hate 8th edition standard pose so CSN you plz help me by telning have to do that

For the halberdier arms I used the old arms from the state troops set, 6th edition? I think.

Time for an update. I finished another group of crossbowmen. I really stepped away from uniform colour scheme, and I am happy with how it turned out. Next on the agenda is a captain with greatsword, magnetized grandmaster and standbearer, and hopefully a Brother Vinni hackbutt.
Pic quality is bad, but I dont have a better camera.

Small update of a captain I finished. Im kinda disappointed with how it turned out, especially the armour, but oh well. I really should invest in a good camera, the pictures are pretty low quality.

And of course I already love your next project.

Hackbut is done. For those not familiar with the model, it is a Brother Vinni sculpt and available through White Knight. Very nice model, though my painting and pictures may not do it justice.

Well, I haven't been too active with fantasy figures but i have been working on some 40k stuff. Basicaly some Victorian Sci Fi imperial guard. That is the first time I ever painted a vehicle and it was very quick and easy and im very happy with the result. Let me know what you all think.

Well, its been awhile since my last update. In that time I've finished college, moved across the country, worked at a new job and built up a 40k army. Here are some Gamezone minis i've finished up. I tried to do blued armour on the general and telescope man, but it doesn't show too well in the pics. More to come in the future.

I've always liked the Gamezone figures. Are the 2 cavalry figures from here as well?
And by the way, took a ganter back through this thread and found those swordsmen made form huntsmen, excellent! I need to buy another box of those huntsmen when I see them again somewhere, and hopefully soon.

Both cav figures are from gamezone.
