I believe the boxes are for powder, like those used with the handgunners. Don't know what mounted crossbowmen from the renaissance used to carry their bolts.
To anyone who is following this blog, im currently repainting my swordsmen to my new color scheme. I may also post some pictures of a destroyed church or a Marauder vignete, both still WIP.

I *think* released in fifth edition?Quite a nice model, do you have a unit of Knights you'll be running with him?Nope, that particular figure was released in the early 90's with the first Empire Army book and was named Kurt Hellborg (the original special character fig for him).The figure was then relabelled over the years along with the other elector count characters, the original supreme patriarch (a bright wizard on horse) and the original Ludwig Schwartzhelm.I think it was 3rd edition at time of release.Cheers,Dante
