Thanks for your replies

Skellie was first painted black (as can be seen in the previous pics of the banner) then I painted on the basic shape with Graveyard Earth. This was highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Graveyard Earth and Kommando Khaki, followed by a layer of pure Kommando Khaki and finally with Bleached Bone.

Thanks all people. I'm proud to say that I can now call my empire army "Prize winning" as I won the local GW's monthly painting competition with them and got myself €30 to spend on stuff which I wisely invested in my Empire minis (10 Handgunners + 10 Statetroops)

Now to ponder for my next "Empire entry" for the competition next month. It's anything goes so I might steal that great Steamtank church thingy ;) Naj, hopefully my militia will do well enough.

Btw: For those living in the Netherlands or visiting Rotterdam ;). You can now check out my Greatswords in the GW located near the 'koopgoot'

Isn't that logical? There is no such thing as too many troops...

----------------------------------------------------

My latest projects have been the conversion of a Grandmaster for my Knights. I can say that this conversion has come out pretty awesome, although I do not have pictures you just have to believe it. The conversion is based on the Empire General Plastic set but with parts from the Outrider box, the Knights box and even the odd Bretonnian bit.

Another project that I've been working on is the conversion of the Wizardlord. This project is a bit hard (as they are metal minis) the it's starting to look like something cool (although the head still needs work) I won't tell anything about this except that it will clearly be a lord (compaired to the other two wizards)

Finally, the artillery is almost finished. The crew for the different pieces is now almost in the detailing phase (also the most time consuming) while I only need to finish one Mortar and it's base to have that finished. Besides that I'm painting up the last unit of Handgunners (with marksmen + repeater handgun)

And as truely last bit, I've converted my unit of Jeager Corps and these guys are just great. One Longrifle looks impressive. But a unit of 10 all with longrifles, guns and repeater handguns/pistols is just plain awesome. Some are shooting their weapon, others have it slung on their back and carry other guns and all are looking like veterans and self sufficient troops (carrying their own stuff to the battle)

And an update of the banner of my Greatswords. Hope you like him.

Could it be that I saw your unit of Greatswords displayed at GW Rotterdam.

If so, they're pretty awesome!

Well, I should keep you all up to date and I had some pics laying around that I made last week when I had access to a camera.

These are the two units of handgunners that I've got at the moment for the army. The third and last one is current WIP. What's new in these units (except that one of them was not posted before) is that they now finally got their marksmen. For one I've used the Engineer model (just really like that model) and the other is an old 5th edition model from the Warwagon (and later reused in the Von Zeppel Steamtank) The new unit will have a repeater handgun and the two 'spare' models will be reused in detachments.

Ooo the old Steamtank crew!!! Yum!

sj

EDIT: those look great man! Are you gonna have riflemen as huntsmen as well? (like 'rifles' not handguns) because the Hochland are famous for their HLR's... it would be kool to see a whole unit of them running around, but without scopes so they count as bows.

EDIT2: yeah I've got the ol' gruffy German tank commander myself, with his toy tank.

Hehe, no that model is slightly different. The old Steamtank Engineer has a repeater pistol and sword and a German pointy helmet. They do come from the same (4th/5th edition) Empire range though.

Edit: Yeah, I've already got 7 of them converted. They look truely awesome (If I may say that of my own minis hehe...) I've used bits from every empire kit available in current times and history and lots of brass rod.

Edit 2: Of course they need scopes. It's what they would carry IRL. It's a shame you can't use them (unless friendly battles maybe. And at 36 points per model not cheap + skirmish + scout = 40+ pts) And for battles just inform your opponent in advance and it's no problem. In fact, if they know a little about the Empire, they know it would be extremely fluffy (+ on 'best army score' ;))

Oh, that's around the corner (basically with bus 129 or the trains) I'm there very often, the shop there is mucho better then GW Rotterdam (read cheaper and has a nice owner) and I study (studied) there.

You mean Speldorado? (or Top 1 Toys) I believe they're constructing some very nice looking gaming tables right now. And I also happen to study in Delft.

Jup, Speldorado I mean indeed. And those tables are pretty darn good. Nice and flexible also. And those pine trees, those are just humongous (and very cool. but €15 for one tree... aiks)

Well, it's time to bump my own topic up once again. No pictures from newly painted and converted models just yet. I'm arranging a digicam at the moment for short update soon, and will be buying a shiny new DSLR for meself (sic) to present you all with bright updates on my Hochland project. One that is comming to completion. So here to keep you all happy a picture of my current Empire army and the status on the minis you'll be getting to see sooner (when I have arranged a digicam) or later (painted them up and taken pictures with the new shiny cam)

So what's in the picture? I'm going to tell you all and the status on the minis.

First of, you see two main groups in the back. The left side is my Hochland section, although it misses the Flagellants which I've just finished assembling. I still need to make some handgunners here (for detachments) and some archers and militia (detachments also) so here the list for Hochland:

Finished completely (paintjob including the small details, shields, bases sanded and painted, flock/shurbs not perse)
1 Aldebrandt Ludendorf
1 Captain with BSB
1 Captain with Dragonbow
1 Battle Wizard (Jade)
1 Battle Wizard (Amber)

2*10 Handgunners incl Longrifle champion
3*20 Spearmen incl Command
1*20 Greatswords

Gaming Ready (basic paintjob completed. Main mini shaded and highlight, no small details, base sanded and painted, flock/shrubs not perse
1*25 Halbardiers (incl command)
1*10 Silver Mountain Inner Circle Knights (incl command)
1*6 White Wolves (incl command)
2  Great Cannons
2  Mortars
1*10 Archers

Work in Progress (any stage if it includes painting/conversions)
1 Grandmaster of the Silvermountain Knights
1 Wizardlord
1*6 Silver Mountain Knights (incl champ and musician)
1*10 Jeager Corps (count as huntsmen but got all fancy longrifles)
1*20 Militia
1*10 Archers
1*7 Hunter on horseback +Hunting dogs (Dow Light Cavalry)

Only assembled or still to assemble
1 Warriorpriest
1*10 Halbardier detachment
3*5 Handgunners detachment
1*5 Archer detachment
4*8 Militia Detachment
1*6 Silver Mountain Knights (incl musician and champ)
1*7 Hunter on Horseback + Hunting Dogs (Dow Light Cav)
1*20 Flagellants

-----------------------------------------

The other large part on the right is my next project: Nuln, some stuff is already painted or just there for show (Knights Panther and Reiksguard knights in the front) as Nuln will get Blazing Sun knights... Nuln has bigger blocks of infantry (25 models) and also Swordsmen, which I don't have in my Hochland army. It will also get my 3 helblasters, 2 steamtanks and 1 (or maybe a 2nd) Helstrom. Basicly, all the gunpowerder you could imagine. Of course, the main army is show, it's pretty flexible outside of that :) No militia though, which is a shame...

It's a long time ago, but I have a new digicam, and a SLR it is :)

So time for a small update, I'll post more stuff later as it is getting pretty darn dark here so not so good photoweather.

Here are my archers. They are gamingready now, and I only need to do some last details and minor highlights. But in general, it's quite a nice regiment. I gave all archers strings in their bows and if they were shooting, I also added arrows in them. Hope you like them :) They are right in time for the Eurobash :)
