Show us your (cool/unusual/converted) Wizards!
« on: August 22, 2009, 11:24:33 AM »
I'm stuck for which miniature to use for my Empire Army. I don't particularly get on with the current Plastic Wizard box- but I would love some inspiration for a conversion.

I'm also willing to abandon the current plastics for an old, oop or alternative to GW. There must be plenty of generic 28mm wizards out there, right?

Inspire me! :)

Thanks for posting the pictures.

I love that last one! (They are all great by the way...)

I 've been scurrying around in some old boxes and have found out the wizard from advanced heroquest. I think that one is in the running order at the moment, until I put something else together.

@soth - where is the staff top on the light wizard from? Don't recognise the piece but looking for something just like it for another project.

Cheers,

My bitz box

I think it came from a wizard from Harlequin.

I think it's from one of the plastic chaos sprues. I have some of those skull things myself- I got them in a selection of bits from Ebay.

These are the two I've been using for lv. 1 mages on foot in my Marienburg themed army. (Pics taken before I based them.)

and I just used this guy as a Lv. 4 mage mounted on a barded warhorse and wearing the Armour of Tarnus for the first time last week:

edit (pic didn't show up the first time):

Where did you get that last miniature? It's great. Is it old citadel? Or another manufacturer?

Nice one Mortikai! I love that guy. I'm currently converting a wizard to look like this guy:
Hello Athiuen and welcome to the Back Table.

I killed a duck with a spear, can't read train timetables though

"To do is to be"-Sartre;

Due to my edit, that would now be the second last miniature.

Yes, he's an old Marauder/Citadel figure, shown in an old catalog here:

I love this thread. I've got my eye out for ideas to 'borrow' for my colleges of magic themed army.
Morticai, where is that model from? It's an odd mix of styles.

why is this threads width out of whack?
The page expands to fit the width of the images. So a large image will cause the page to get wider.

I've got the odd wizard model, so one of these must surely be an inspiration

This is probably several thousands points worth, a small army

The Order of Light

The Golden Order

The Jade College

The Grey Order

The Celestial College

The Amethyst Order

The Bright Order

The Amber Brotherhood

Sorry the photos are a bit blurry, but I did them in a rush

I believe this guy was from the old Citadel LOTR range from the 80's.  The 'Mouth of Sauron' I think.  Now he's my Amethyst wizard or necromancer for for VC army.

Almost all of my wizards: I like painting them. But almost never field them.
Lets se if I made them obvious enough. Can you Guds them all?

One of the big wigs... once told them "If a household doesn't have an income of $70,000, we don't consider them a GW target customer."

Here is my mounted Wizard that I usually use.

And then there is this one that I made for InvaderZim as his "Surprise".  I think I might try to make another one similar because I was so pleased with how he turned out.
