That's... some exceptionally well-armoured state troops there. Those swordsmen would be very suitable as Reiksguard Foot Knights.

Did you greenstuff all that chainmail?

Thanks guys.
Yeah, the halberds have greenstuff chain mail. The second / third / fourth rank unipose halberds are 5th edition metals who were suitably armoured. In 7th I used them as detachments of 9, and when 8th came around I discovered I needed about 40 -50 halberds and besides tracking down a few more here and there, I needed many more to complete a unit, so I decided to greenstuff and kitbash my own.
7th ed State troop body and plain shield, 6th ed state troop halberd and sword in scabbard, mohawk knight helmet and feather from one of the other helmets, and then greenstuff chainmail to match the unipose halberds. Still have 3 more put aside to paint.

That's a very cleanly painted steam tank, I like it.

Nice to see the old (5th edition) crewmen with the artillery. Have you thought about mixing in some of the newer ones? That would reduce the number of repeats of the same model.

Did you scratch-build the rocket battery from leftovers of the helblaster/rocket kit?

Thanks GP!  :biggriin:

Yeah, the first one is from the old metal giant kit. The second is from mordhiem. When I first saw him, I thought he would be the perfect model to blame bad scatter dice rolls on. Except he has actually been fairly good.

Thanks - yeah, I didn’t paint the old metal one as nicely, so gave a nice finish to the plastic.

The thing is, I hate plastic skirmishers. War machine crew, archers, etc. they always get knocked over. Metal is so much more sturdy, so I really want only metal crewmen. I should do some conversions to mix them up a bit, like a headswap or arm swap or something, but maybe another time. Too many unpainted models already! I also really like barrel on shoulder guy, as well as leonardo and guy with monocular.

Correct. I never really liked the out of the box model - too full on. Instead I made a much more simple device... perhaps too simple, but I think it stilll looks the part.

Engineers

Why did you go for the GW approach on the figure under the engineers foot?
If it's painted in human fleshy colors I can't make out what race it is or it must be child-labor or even worse child-abuse..hence why I painted it up as a goblin (or green gnoblar)
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

Maybe it's supposed to be a homunculus?

Anyway, I love these minis. The steam tank, especially looks stunning.

I don't remember GW's colour scheme for this - I never really saw a good close up of this model. I painted it as child-labor / abuse, because thats how arrogant I imagine Engineer's behaving. Goblins and Gnoblars only have a place in my army at the end of a sword!

That's... seriously the coolest witch hunter I've ever seen. Not the Van Helsing style action hero, nor the fiery-eyed frothing fanatic. Just serious business.

Also, which original model is that blindfolded rider? Ibn the Standard Bearer from Al-Mukhtar's Desert Dogs?

Indeed it is.
I had 3 sets of the Desert dogs, and needed to use up the extra standard bearers. Originally he was in a with a unit of mounted Warrior Priests, but his lack of armour made the unit seem a bit weird, so then when I wanted to up my unit of flagellants to 20 from 15, I needed a unit filler, and that's when it all came into place.

I cannot take credit. Warhammer-Weib painted it for me as a Pleasant Surprise many years ago.
It also came with an accompanying dog (the dog with the Mortar above) and a cool die to use as a turn marker.
