I would like to go on with some old school DOW crossbows who have been paid to wear Altdorf colours...

Have to say the guy stood on the left has a very mad eye moody look with that large, starey eye.

You're army looks great though and I'm sure they'll look even better when they are based!

Thank you for your piece of advice. Actually I like mad cannoniers but I will repaint his eyes. I know that basing is important and i still have some bases to do. Therfore I have made a note to myself: No posting before basing. I will exchange all the ugly pics with greenish bases as soon as it is done.

Here are some more Halbardiers:

The halberdiers look great! I also use guys from mixed editions in my horde of 50, but I did not paint them all exactly the same. I like that you used the quarters scheme on all of your halberdiers, it really makes them fit together nicely, despite being from different editions.

A quick X-MAS update. Some Halberds and Crossbows that guarantee an orc-free Christmas in Altdorf.

Merry X-MAS to all of you!

Long time, no post. But that doesn't mean that I was lazy. I am just enjoying the afternoon while painting some banners and flags. Because of not being a good freehand painter I print the motifs and colour them by brush. The result is the following:

X-Bows:

Halbardiers:

To my mind they look okay but I am not really pleased. So: Do you have any hints or suggestions what I could do better?

spray sealer or varnish the paper before you try to paint it. You can also after sealing give it a light coat (transparent) of white acrylic primer, I think you will be pleasd with the result.  You can also try using a higher quality of paper to begin with, 20lb cold press highest brightness you can find, high fiber content helps sometimes depending on the fiber used.  steveb

Unfortunately I had not that much time and motivation over the last couple of months. Therefore a small update on the halberds as I did some basing. Especially the 2nd pic, showing the captain of the regiment, didn't turn out that well (demotivated I played with photoshop). But he will be set in scene as soon as the regiment is finished. I also plan to add a warrior priest.

Banner and drummer still missinmg:

Long time, no post again. Taking part in a competition called Project 250 at the moment on another tabletop site. I am supposed to paint at least 250 points each month. Here are my first outcomes.

Some converted Halbards (old plastic models) and an Altdorfian Empire veteran which was also my first attempt green stuffing some parts of the mini, in that case hammer, cloak and hat. Therefore please be kind with your comments  :-D.

You have a lovely regiment, with all those old school models mixed with modern. Those old plastic halberdiers were the first models I ever bought for Empire. I painted them in almost exactly the same colour scheme you do (just like they were on the photo on the box), with golden cuirass and all. Memories!

That veteran does a great overall impression. At first glance I didn't notice he was converted from a regular halberdier!

I love those regiments where every model (or virtually every model) is different; a kitbash, a conversion, a classic model, something you found at the bottom of your bitz box .... Your army looks great. Wonderful stuff!

Thx for the nice comments. I really love those old fellas as they can be painted pretty easily. During my P250 I experimented with a new colour scheme that to my mind fits to my army very well. It is a mixture between Altdorfians and Reiklanders and therefore includes white, red and blue. It goes pretty well with the old state troopers but I despeartely failed to use it on the new ones. The idea is to create a supporting cast of my original troops lead by a captain named Fabius Schlegl. So here are some halbardiers of a new regiment coming up as well as my first greatswords:

I like the scheme with white, especially how it comes out on that second photo. Nice to see how a simple conversion (heads) ends up in a lot of personality.
