45th Wulfhagen Regiment
« on: November 13, 2018, 06:54:33 PM »
Gentlemen, generals, and electors all:

I have decided how I want to go about my next Warhammer 40K project for my Imperial Guard forces. These will as usual be part of my overarching crusade Force.

I'm going to be starting with the warlord games 16th century 2 17th century Landsknect sets. And then going to be adding 40K bits or other Syfy bits to make them stand out as Guardsmen. Chiefly this will be the replacement of the pike holding arms or otherwise with skitarii Ranger rifles.

The paint scheme is looking like it's going to tend towards a blue and yellow color combination. Not specifically because I like nordland, but because the blue ties them together with the rest of my Army and yellow is a good complementary color.

I have built up the first five of these new guardsmen (excepting the addition of grenades and such) and request your preliminary thoughts.

I think they actually look rather nice, would love to see a painted example to see how far the concept can be taken!

I'm working on that. These boys will be primed shortly after I get home from work

You're crazy - and I can't wait to see these painted and how they work in the context of your WH40k army.

I think the idea is brilliant, but I'm not really sure about those warlord bodies and heads. They look tiny when combined with the Skitarii arms! Have you tried doing mock ups using state troop bodies? They should be a better fit scale-wise. Looking closely I think it's the guns that are the main offenders, they are so massive!

Those guns are made up of the new lightest forms of metal, and include some plastic parts. :icon_wink:

State trooper bodies also have significantly less puff.

I headcannon it that the bionics make the arms bulkier.

First five are painted and awaiting bases.
