Is that the old metal model, or did they make a new version as part of the WH30k range? I don't have mine to hand to compare! Either way, nice to see someone else doing some space marines.

The MoS? He's on of FW's 30K range, what does the old metal one look like? I don't think I've ever seen one, but would be keen to check yours out :)

More housekeeping - picked up Betrayal at Calth and the anniversary marine over the weekend. Currently alternating between painting Palatines and building Phoenix Guard

Painting Log 2016 (April 26th)
Carry over
+129

Incoming
15 Mk IV Space Marines +15
30 Mk IV Space Marines +30
5 Catapharacti Terminators +5
Contemptor Dreadnaught +5
Chaplain in Power Armour +2
Praetor in Cataphracti Terminator Armour +2
30th Anniversary Space Marine +2

Outgoing
2015 Pleasant Surprise -5
1 Legion Master of Signal -2
1 Witch King on Fell Beast -10
1 Ring Wraith on Fell Beast -10

Total +163

The anniversary marine will eventually become a Vigilator for my ECs and the whole BaC set will also be ECs - probably another tactical squad and a heavy weapons squad. Might skip the tac squad and do support squads or something, haven't made up my mind yet.

Also played my first game of 30K over the weekend against a mates Dark Angels army at 2500 points. I learnt one very important lesson: running your troops on foot into the teeth of an enemy gunline will not work, no matter how cute you try to play it. Next time around, I'm thinking a Maru Skara list and outflanking terminators and Palatine Blades while anchoring with tac squads - just means building and painting quicker!

More housekeeping....picked up some Seekers to go into a Daemon allied detachment for my ECs (not technically allowed by the rules at the moment, but our gaming group is pretty loose). Palatines are nearly complete, just swords and final details to complete. Next on the agenda will be a 20 man tac-blob

Long time between updates - good news is that the Palatine Blades are now finished (done a week or two ago).

First five with the Prefector with power sword in the middle

Second five

Prefector

He's doing a superhero landing! (or shoulder charging through a group of loyalists)

White hair is common amongst ECs

I've now rolled into building a lot - finished building a unit of Phoenix Guard, the Limited Edition Praetor that was available at GWs the other week and started building a Heavy Support squad with Lascannons for dealing with pesky things like Land Raiders. A mate and I are playing a short campaign at the moment and his armour is causing all sorts of havoc, so hoping that will help.

Painting Log 2016 (July 20th)
Carry over
+129

Incoming
15 Mk IV Space Marines +15
30 Mk IV Space Marines +30
5 Catapharacti Terminators +5
Contemptor Dreadnaught +5
Chaplain in Power Armour +2
Praetor in Cataphracti Terminator Armour +2
30th Anniversary Space Marine +2
15 Seekers of Slaanesh +30
Ltd Ed FW Praetor in Terminator Armour +2

Outgoing
2015 Pleasant Surprise -5
1 Legion Master of Signal -2
1 Witch King on Fell Beast -10
1 Ring Wraith on Fell Beast -10
10 Palatine Blades with Jump Packs -10

Total +185

The plan for now is to focus on painting ten man power armour squads - so the Lascannons are next, then probably a Kakaphoni, a Volkite Charger Support Squad and a Plasma Gun Support Squad. I might throw a character or two in there to break things up as well - hopefully there's less time between updates as well (famous last words)

Thanks :) I've kept them quite clean as befitting ECs...can't have our armour getting dirty in battle!

Long time between updates. In between a heavy workout schedule (did my fourth Tough Mudder endurance event a week ago) I've been building various models for use in 30K (Knight and Sicaran chief amongst them). Also got my first fantasy game in about two years in as well which was good fun - fought out a very bloody draw between my Skaven and my brothers Goblins. Currently on my workstation is the Lascannon Heavy Support Squad (need to do one more layer of purple then onto the white), as well as 20 Seekers of Slaanesh which are being built as part of an allied force for my ECs - forgot how much easier plastic is to work with in preference to resin. Planning on a mass build of Daemons while still painting PA armoured ECs.

Have a 4K Heresy game coming up this weekend, so plenty to get on with before then.

Good to see you back! Out of curiosity - can the 30K EC ally with Daemons? I thought only Word Bearers can do that at this moment.

Thanks :) Officially the rules are only WBs can have ally Daemons at the moment....but we're calling rule of cool on this one. We're ignoring the WB only part of the rule, so one of my Consul upgrades for my list is a Diabolist, which then allows for Daemon allies, and I'm only taking Slaanesh Daemons. I'm sure FW will eventually allow all traitor-aligned armies to take Daemon allies but that's gotta be at least three or four books away at the moment.

Cool stuff! Yeah, I reckon that during the siege of Terra, almost all of the traitors could summon the Neverborn. Good on you for creativity. :smile2:

New Year, new goals!

So 2016 goes down in infamy as a year in which basically NOTHING was painted. Poor form. <best politician voice> I promise that 2017 will be a different year, a better year </politician voice>

In seriousness, this year I'm planning to focus more heavily on getting brush to model. The Lascannon unit is coming along at the moment (doing metal details, then the lascannons, then the gold details). After that, the plan is my two Sicarans and then probably more infrantry as I'm starting to get a good system down for ECs. The carry over penalty is going to hurt though - same as last year, it's 1.5x the remaining points:

Painting Log 2017 (January 12th)
Carry over
+386

Incoming
Sicaran Venator +12

Outgoing
Wood Elf Lord -2
Wood Elf Mage -2

Total +394

I sold off some Wood Elf characters that were never going to see a brush (loved the idea of a winter theme - just no time to paint them!). If anyone wants to buy a Dark Elf army also have one of them going!

More updates as they come.

Late update....finished off the Lascannon squad (photos haven't uploaded yet unfortunately) - learnt a very nasty lesson about bending resin cables into place: you should always do this prior to painting and not keep the models in sub-assemblies. Bending them into place without damaging the existing paint is a PITA. Looks good when done though.

Painting Log 2017 (March 20th)
Carry over
+386

Incoming
Sicaran Venator +12
5 Palatine Blades +5
5 MKIV Assault Marines +5
5 MKII Heavy Support Marines +5

Outgoing
Wood Elf Lord -2
Wood Elf Mage -2
10-man MKIV Heavy Support Squad with Lascannons -10

Total +399

Picked up some Palatine blades so I can model them up with Phoenix spears and really ruin people's days. At the moment I'm building a MKII tactical squad and painting a Legion Champion with jump pack - doing some basic metal work, then onto the purple. After he's done I'll either paint the tac squad or both Sicarans - finishing him will almost equal my entire output for last year!

Thank you :) I'm pretty proud of how they came out, now I have to paint the rest of the army to that standard! 30K is taking priority for me at the moment though.

Yay, 1000 posts - fitting that it should be in my blog noting that I haven't finished anything new  :engel: On the plus side, the Legion Champion is progressing nicely - the purple and white are both done, currently working on some platinum detailing on the shoulder guard before moving onto all the gold detailing....which could take a while (seriously, it's a lot of gold).

I'm also still building the MKII Tac Squad - currently cleaning the arms up at the moment. Will attach them next, followed by adding texture to the bases and they'll be ready for undercoating.

Plan still remains that the next models up will be the two Sicarans - I'm hoping they should be straight forward as I have the recipe down from the Spartan and I'll following a pretty similar style.

And some late photos of the Lascannon squad - first up is an in progress shot, I think just prior to final assembly

And a completed shot with the painted cables in place (terrible lighting however)

Thanks for looking :)

Considering the age of the 40K one I think a FW one will hit it out of the park! I think it's the lash on the 40K one that bugs me, something about it doesn't sit right.
