This blog will be used to monitor my Stormcast Eternal models in their various stages, to show off my army, and have some fun getting pointers and comments about my army and work.

The Fluff:
The Knights of the Aurora is a Stormhost from the First Striking, like the Hammers of Sigmar and thus bear the Hammer and Lightning bolt Heraldry.
The Borealis warrior chamber of this Stormhost is led by Lord-Celestant "Arturo Boreas" sometimes riding on his Dracoth "Prism" aided by his second in command Lord-Relictor "Amortea Luminu". They get help now and then from the Auxiliary Chamber commanders: Lord-Castellant "Solarius Skygazer", Lord-Veritant "Chiaro Scuro" and his officers Knight-Heraldor "Fulgur Halation" and Knight-Vexillor "Eos Coruscate".
Master scout and Reconnaissance leaders Knight-Azyros "Scintil Obscurea" and "Aurio Incandoria" and sky-archer Knight-Venator "Welkin Burnish" are also seen regularly between the ranks.
Rarely Knight-Questor "Solicius Dioptric" will be seen joining the army as he is mostly out on his own doing his missions from Sigmar.

Their motto: fortuna favet fortibus (Fortune favors the brave)

The Knights of the Aurora were selected based on their speed and agility. Only the best became a Knight of the Aurora. Sigmar deploys these chambers only when he sees that speed is of the essence and that it's better to send in small but fast and effective strike forces.
When these strikeforces are being send the lightning leaves a mark on the ground where they land. Crystalizing some of the minerals above the soil.

Their first task was to secure the Realmgate to Azyr in the realm of Ghyran (Life) where Arturo single handedly cut down a ravager-lord(1).

In an attempt to liberate the enslaved continent of Beryllius, Sigmar had cast the Knights Aurora Stormhost into battle. Led by a mighty spearhead of Paladins and Judicators, the Knights Aurora succeeded in overthrowing the Bloodtyrant and his nightmarish daemon cohorts, and reclaiming two Realmgates. Alas the cost was terrible, as well over half of the Stormhost fell as casualties.(2)

>>next part taken from my empire blog and edited a bit<<

The modeller/painter part of me:
I'm not in anyway artistic with sculpting and adding to a model this way, but I do not shy from adding some bits here and there that I have lingering around nor swapping bits out for others. Because of this most of the units you will get to see from me are pretty standard build.
As for the painting part... I'm a perfectionist and even with the rank and file units I kinda get carried away, hence why I didn't have much painted yet for back in the day.

The collector part of me:
Formost I think of myself as a collector, but due to a tight budget I am not able to get most stuff together as fast as I would like too. I hope the 2nd post in this thread will represent my collecting ability aswell besides the progress I am making on getting my models ready.
I'll update this 2nd post (and the 3rd aswell if I get my hands on something not Stormcast Eternal related) regularly, so check it often!

The gamer part of me:
Back in 1999 when I started this hobby I played pretty often with/against friends (Chaos, High Elves) and later I even joined the local gaming club and participated in a small tournament aswell (winning from a squickhopper/snotling pump wagon army). But the gaming group fell apart, the local club requiring 80% painted armies and other things in life made me stop the hobby for a while.
Picked up gaming again in 2010 when I met my newly aquired brother-in-law who played skaven. Had some stuff going on in my personal life again so stopped the hobby again for 6-9 months. Since the start of 2011 I'm back in the game versus skaven with 8th edition rule set and looking forward to start playing games on and off, maybe even at the local gaming shop (same founder as the gaming club back in 1999).
I also intend to visit the Eurobashes organized by this forum to have a blast at gaming. Where I have been 5 consecutive years now!

There still will be GW gold added (but missing those paints as of yet.. stupid local gamesshop either forgets to order it or doesn't get it delivered), but it will be for the decorative stuff, like the shield top and hammer, pauldron edges, scales in the tabard and belt buckles and some assorted smaller stuff.

Loin cloth and the plume is in Mephiston red with agrax earthshade now and the parchment has the first layer of ushabti bone.

after the gold I only need to highlight the stuff to finish off the models, then onward to the bases!

So finally bought some of the new gold and applied the first layer to the first 5 Liberators, sorry for the bit blurry pictures with my phone camera. Once completely done I'll take out the macro camera :)

They look bright, but maybe that's just the glare from a light or flash.

Wow, really nice paint schemes on them. The green and gold work really well together.

Great job! :::cheers:::

The box definately lacks that option for a single barefooted Stormcast  :smile2:

Also, cool paint scheme my good man! It's nice to see ones that arent the posterboy scheme,  keep it coming!

Nope, just plain old/new Knights of the Aurora

So after the most left one (doing the G-W gold scheme) I wasn't happy with the results at first, so now tried a few other ways out.
Differences shown on the top of the shield (and less visible here on the pauldron edges)

So first is:
Retributor Armour base - Reikland Fleshshade - Auric Gold Armour (brightening) - Liberator Gold (highlight)

Second:
Retributor Armour base - Reikland Fleshshade - Liberator Gold (highlight)

Third:
Retributor Armour base - Reikland Fleshshade - Retributor Armour (brightening) - Liberator Gold (highlight)

After viewing on the picture, still not really happy with the first (looks a bit gritty), second sharp contrast that I like, but like the third one also, which flows better.

Opinions?

I really like the gold effect you have achieved. Against the green it really pops out.

I like the Eternals rules but my forces need to be more squishy so Free Peoples for me.

I'm liking them all, but the middle dude stands out for me.

I like the middle one most, it seems the most subtle. It was close between it and the 3rd. (right hand side)

I've got to go with the middle one as well. Couldn't tell you why, but something about it looks better to my eye.

Hi Steg, have you fought with your Storm Casts yet? They look great so would be good to see them arrayed for battle.

So I went with the middle scheme, fixed them up yesterday evening, only to finish the highlight on the metallic armour now to finish the Liberators (besides basing)

Hi Steg, have you fought with your Storm Casts yet? They look great so would be good to see them arrayed for battle.

I did the scenarios from the starter box mostly, but not yet with the painted models (and mostly on empty green boards). And I only have the Liberators so far painted. But will post pictures as soon as I have them ready for battle :)

Highlighting the armor reduced the brightness of the gold and that's a good thing.

Best looking Storm dudes I've seen so far.  :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::

I bought a Citadel Wood thursday and have now assembled it.. well the bare trees as I first want to paint it up before adding the leaves. But before that it's back to painting the Stormhost.
