Well personally I agree that they don't look as armored as the old foot knight guys or the knights we have currently, however I do really like their aesthetic.
Having foot troops with a 4+ save and great weapons is pretty rare, not even dwarves have that (a shame, really) so that's a bonus.
Of course it's up to the player to decide what models they like, for instance using the old metal Ulric hammer dudes (tuetogen guard) as proxy greatswords is fine by me, they look amazing.
