mottdon's Middenheim army...and others...
« on: April 14, 2014, 02:52:04 PM »
Hello, good sirs!  I thought that I would take a moment to share some images of my Middenheim army!  As always, it is a work in progress and is always growing and evolving.  I will add pictures as I have the opportunity to take them.  I hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!  I love constructive criticism!  Thanks!

First off, my BSB on Warhorse!

Next, my General on Griffon!

Next, our fearless emperor, Karl Franz on Warhorse!

Next, the master of mustaches, Kurt Helborg!

Next, my kit-bashed Reiksguard Knights!

Next, my Demigryphs!

And lastly, my Empire army shelf.

That's a start for now.

I would love to, but space becomes a real issue when you have 5 armies this size.   :|

Really nice models, mottdon - not a huge fan of Middenheim myself, but they are very nice indeed.

Certainly very good painting there.

This is a list of my Middenheim-themed Empire army:

10 Wizards (1 for each lore, 2 for Light, 2 for Heavens, 1 mounted)

Ludwig Schwarzhelm
Luthor Huss
8 Captains (1 BSB mounted, 2 BSB's, 1 with GW and Pistol, 1 with sword and shield, 1 with additional hand weapon, 2 on Pegasus - one is the old general on griffon model but I use him as a Captasus now.)
2 Master Engineers
1 Witch Hunter

Core Units:
40 Halberdiers
30 Spearmen (old ones with lion-face shields)
30 Swordsmen
36 Handgunners (10 painted as Hochland Gunnermann's Surefires, 10 as Southern Confederates, 16 as Middenheim regulars)

Those dwarfs are awesome. The painting for some of the weapon or banner runes is amazing. Really like the red color scheme.

I got the new Treeman and put him together.  Here is the way I molded him below.  I wanted him to have a more dynamic pose, as though he just cut through something or was about to twirl his spear around to wreak some havoc.  He was a pain to put together, though!  So many little twigs that had a very specific place!  I had to use a little green stuff in a few minor places to get things to fit nicely because I was using components from all three versions.  I really like how it turned out though!  I'll post some pics when I'm through painting it.

Nice looking painting across several armies.  I really liked the picture of the dwarves with hoods. Are they part of the new range or did you greenstuff the hoods?

Yeah, it was definitely one of the hardest models that I have ever had to put together.  So many little twigs that had very specific places and the fact that I was mixing three different characters, made it very difficult.  But it worked!

Those are actually Avatars of War rangers.  They really have some great Dwarfs in their line.  Also, they cost about the same as Games Workshop, but they put 20 figures in a box whereas GW only includes 10.
