After this mornings revisit to a relatively local hobby store for the Black Friday "Buy 1, Get 3 Free", can tell I'm doomed to a life of buying miniatures, and probably not being able to break my habit. :icon_lol:

Not only did I pick up the Relthorza fleet box (what a freakin' awesome kit!) and walk out with the Lunimark/Hurricanum, War Alter, and a F&IW game (called "A Few Acres of Snow"), but I couldn't stop myself from picking up more ...

Figured as long as I was taking the Firestorm Armada plunge (1 battleship, 3 cruisers, and 6 frigates inside the fleet kit), I might as well pick up a few other items, to take advantage of the sale of course. Bought the PD & Comm Satellite set for $24, getting the Gun/Torp Satellites, Relthorza Escorts (6), and Relthorza Shunt R&D Cruiser for free.

Then for some miniatures ...

Bought a 40K Ogryn for $19, with a package of 3 older Empire knights, a Pathfinder Hook Mountain Ogre (this is one cool figure!), and a Skaven Warp-Grinder Team.  This was followed by purchasing a Space Wolf Runepriest at $14 (a gift for a friend) while bringing home an Ultra Marines Champion (gift for nephew), Skaven Warlord Spinetail (gift for another nephew), and an older Orc Boss (flat topped helmet, two clubs, another cool figure!).

All in all ... paid $117, instead of $418, a savings of $301, 72% off!  Might be the best hobby deal I've ever had. :icon_cool:

Yep.

And couldn't resist picking up on sale another 102 metal historical miniatures for $83 + postage at $7 = $90.  Thats about $1.13 a piece!

These included 38 figures by Dixon ... 4 SYW, 1 AWI, a grouping of 1 woman Viking & 3 kids, 15 Indian Mutiny British, 7 ECW, 4 Scots, and 3 F&IW rangers.  And there were 64 American Civil War figures by Essex ... 32 Union Infantry, 4 Union Cav, 27 Confederate Infantry, 1 Confederate Cav.  Definitely a good buy!

Next up ... 104 assorted metal Assyrians and thier allied/conquered forces at 30% off.

It's going to be a very Merry Christmas. :icon_biggrin:

Y'know, there are far too few pictures of painted miniatures in this thread.  You do tell yourself that you plan to paint everything you buy before you buy it, right?  :engel:

Think Dark Knight has the only picture in here.  Someday I'll buy a camera and get some up. :icon_wink:

Now there's been a heming and a hawing over whether or not folks interested in Impetus are going to do Ancients or Medievals.  Might need to buy more than one army, just in case ... lol.

Seriously, I'm waiting on which one first until after they figure out what they want to do.  Doesn't matter to me, Sargonite Assyrians or Communal Italians could be good.  The Assyrians are really cool loking figures and planning to use the Communal Italians for two different rule sets anyway, Impetus and Day of Battle.

And since I'm prepping for a American Civil War rules release scheduled for mid to late 2013, plus a convention game sooner than that, there will be more ACW figures being purchased soon, too.

I wish I lived near your store. Wow. My LGS offers 20% off on Black Friday - it basically turns into TheWarStore for a day.
All the stores around me offer a regular 20% off citadel products.  It's pretty fantastic.

An aside: as someone who used to work in the non-profit sector, food drives still make me cringe. I know people's hearts are in the right place, but the end result is that charities spend countless hours transporting the goods and filtering out expired items and crap like cans of pie filling. Whereas cash donations can be turned into bulk purchases of fresh goods at a discounted price from the manufacturers.
I just got a great deal on some miniatures at the LGS during their Toys for Tots drive.  I took the money I would have spent and donated it to a local food pantry for their annual Christmas drive.  Everyone is a winner!

Let me feed a fellow miniholic. I don't know if you do any spaceship/starfighter gaming, but did you see that Amazon is selling first wave X-Wing boosters for between 43% and 57% off? If you buy more than $25 worth of them you get free shipping as per Amazon's Super Saver shipping deal! I just had to buy 2 of each today to top off my collection with the numbers I want of them. To bad they aren't also selling the base game! I honestly don't know how they can make any kind of profit off them selling them at greater than 50% off retail. I guess they are trying to clear out stock in preparation for wave 2 in February.

... Yea, I totaly bought into X-Wing. 2 Core Sets, X-Wing, Y-Wing, Tie, Adv Tie...

Worst part is I chose this game rather than lunch and gas.

Another friend bought Firestorm... bought a starter fleet.

Then A friend suggested I get into Chaos Into Carpathia... now I own 4 West Wind Nosfrutu and am addicted to reading Lead Adventure Forum Posts...

Now that same as$hole is getting me into "Innsmouth Gaming", and I am looking at buying a bunch of that stuff too...

I cant stop buying into systems...

Think Dark Knight has the only picture in here.

And that is actually a promo-shot from the seller!

Well, we do all have to make our sacrifices!

I totally understand where you are coming from. I keep telling myself I'm really done buying new miniatures for a while, but I've still picked up two X-Wing Core Sets, and 4 of each X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE, and TIE Adv. and I just dropped a bunch on zombie miniatures. This is all in the past couple months. It never ends.

I have still been strong brothers.

I have a gaming group of about two-dozen or so regular guys. Since 2009, it was only Games Workshop (Warhammer Fantasy & 40K only, none of that LOTR crap). Then, late 2011, they fired the guy that was running the local GW store that was our regular hang-out. He was such an awesome guy, we vowed never to return (and didn't, for months even ). We quickly found a new spot:

http://www.madnessgames.com/Madness.html

However, as awesome as this new place is, we were not limited to GW. Soon the group was (and still is) buying everything from Warmachine, Infinity, Flames of War, X-Wing, Heroclix, you name it. Since my daughter really enjoyed it, I spent more than a few dollars on Heroclix (and all the guys in the group gave her all their duplicates, so now she has several hundred of them + maps/tokens/etc), but I never broke down myself to buy anything but Warhammer Fantasy. They tried for a year to get me into Menoth, but still I resisted. It wasn't the money so much as TIME! Between work, kids, wife, house, etc, I have just enough personal time in one week to play one game, and that game is Warhammer Fantasy. Only a few months ago, they got together and purchased me a Menoth army (seriously, about $400 worth of stuff, I can field a 50 point Menoth Army), and have played more than a few games of Warmachine, but keep coming back to Warhammer. Despite all its quirks, I still think it is the best. I own four armies and have just started my fifth. I feel your pain, brothers, but where do you guys find the time for all these different gaming systems???
So, what would you guys do if some dude came at you with a belt that way?
Make sure I've got the safeword memorised.

In my case A) 90% of the miniatures end up collecting dust B) The guys and I are only playing 1-2 games at a given time. Games seem to fall into disfavor and get ignored for awhile before someone gets in a WWII mood or a Warhammer Fantasy mood and so forth.

I've been trying to do more in terms of boardgaming and roleplaying to save money/space and because they're easier for friends with jobs/families to get into.

The simple answer is we don't find time for all of them. As with any addict you indulge in the source of your addiction to excess! If only I could limit myself to just a few, but I can't. I'm actually addicted to more than just miniatures and miniature games, I'm also addicted to boardgames and role playing games. I'm cool with that. I can't believe I've actually been selling a bunch of my stuff the past couple weeks.
