As the title says ... What Miniature Games Are you Playing in 2018?
So far for me this year, it has only been a couple games of Lion Rampant and a game of Warhammer Great War. However, I'm on tap for more Lion Rampant, Carnage and Glory, Polemos, Warhammer Great War again, and Day of Battle when attending Huzzah! 2018 this month.

We want a report ! 😺
-
40k
AoS
Zombicide (board game with minis! @Eurobash)
Munchkin deluxe (also boardgame with minis though all of them are the same.. @Eurobash)
Still hoping to do some more Silver Tower (the first one and/or Hammerhall), some Frostgrave would be interesting to do, just to find someone here.. Or get one of the locals from the Eurobash over as he was interested.
-
40K: 2 games so far, one incoming.
WFB 6th edition skirmish: 2 games so far.
The Horus Heresy: 11 games so far, joined the polish league, having a huge blast with this title. Also the guys that I'm playing with are a lovely bunch.
I'm planning to play a couple of games of Shadow War: Armageddon and AoS skirmish, in a near future.
-
Munchkin.
-
1 game 40k 8 ed. - Orks and imperium
1 game AoS - chaos/beastmen/skaven and Devoted of Sigmar
Not really happy about downsizing the board ( as boring as it is) and feel it needs a supplement to get big temporarily to 4x6

I'm bringing a camera, although it is an older one, and the lighting in the hall isn't always great for taking pictures, but we'll see.

Hey, I asked you in the other thread for 2017 - how do you find Star Wars Armada?
-
Mostly Mordheim, Frostgrave & X-wing.
And I hope I can add The 9th-age and Necromunda to it.

Whoops! Already fixed. Thanks GP. :-P

Hey, I asked you in the other thread for 2017 - how do you find Star Wars Armada?
I don't visit these threads that often.
Easy to lurn difficult to master. I am normally troubled by people who go for the several card combo's which there are. I like to play without, so that the better "admiral" can win. I played in a tourney and some casual games amongst friends and the game is quit enjoyable even (with upgrade cards) for a tactical nerd like me.
The squadrons are little and don't bother big ships to much when in small numbers and they pretty much "move along peasant" when a ships base moves them out of the way. In greater numbers, or with the bomber special rule, fighters can be a great pain in the b.. though.
Ships are from slow and cumbersome to fast and pretty agile. Thinking ahead is aquired to make something out of youre combo's. The really big ships have mostly just one or two turns to kill something off. The rest of the time they play pokemon (you've got to catch...) instead of Armada.
Scenarios chosen well help you to get the most from youre ships.

2018 so far...
Played in a KoW tournament (3 games)
Prepping to play my first game of Sellswords & Spellsingers
I have also played some kids games with my daughter (age 6)/family -- Zombie Run! (card game) and Race to the Treasure! (simple co-op board game).
-
2018---
Mordheim and some more Mordheim, then I played Mordheim
-
Thank goodness for Mordheim!
I heard a rumor that it might get re-released, yet just a rumor for now.
-
My tally for 2018 ...
Lion Rampant ... 3
Warhammer Great War ... 2
Carnage and Glory: ACW ... 1
Polemos: Great Northern War ... 1
Day of Battle ... 1
Expect to get in another game of DoB this weekend.

To my surprise, I'm playing in a by-the-book fantasy 8th ed Badlands campaign.
Three games in, and three losses. My friends took the campaign a lot more serious than me, and my fluff army tends to wiped from the table. We're now upgrading from 1200 points to 2250 points, and the armies are allowed to evolve a lot.
The 8th ed army book messed up (http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=46111.0) with my Empire army, and I now feel forced to build the STank and the Wizard Wagon, which you seem to need to make the army work in the headbashing contest the game became. Also dropping Swordsmen, Handgunners/Crossbowmen and Flagellants because of their miserable cost/effectiveness. Need to min/max the horde/bus tactic with cheaper troops.
Nevertheless, playing Warhammer with friends is great fun, and it has inspired my miniatures hobby, so it's a win. And I DID have fun with two Witchhunters. Thanks to the campaign rules one of them now has BS 5, and will see action in my re-written and upgraded army.

Couldn't get together for that DoB game as planned. :icon_sad:

That sounds like a lot of fun! Will You be taking Demigryphs and Halberdiers? Also I'd love to see some pics!
-
Nice post! Here goes my list:
Malifaux - easily the most games this year (nearing 20), including hosting two small 6-man events for my friends, prizes and all. Was great fun.
Warhammer 40k - a couple of narrative games with my brother. Mostly smaller games 750-1500 points on 4x4 cityscape board.
Necromunda - got the boxed set for christmas and so far managed 2 games (me playing Eschers). It's pretty good, I can see myself running a small league, when they publish a rules compilation and release all the basic gangs.
9th age - played 2 games using the 1.1 ruleset during winter (didn't feel like learning new rules, knowing they will change in 5 minutes time). Both with my goblin army, one against high elves and one against VC.
Saga - sadly only a single game this year, where my vikings got crushed by my friend's saxons. Haven't had the chance to check the second edition of the game.
I think that's about it, I did have an intro game of Dropfleed Commander, but it didn't really catch my interest. It's an okay game though, I might try it again sometime.

Don't have the time to build or paint DG. Especially since I won't build them from the box. But I'm hastily building a STank and a Hurricanum. Still hesitating between Halberdiers and Spearmen. Our meta has a lot of shooting and killing spells, and Halberdiers are no better than Spearmen there. Cheap spearmen probably work as the anvil-bus I need.
AS 1+ IC Knights can survive a lot and do the killing job. With the Hurricanum, they'll be hitting most things at 3+ or 2+, and have S6 on the Charge. Add Hate from the priest, and they'll likely destroy or rout weak and medium units whenever they get the charge in. The unit has to be fairly big to endure some losses. If it survives the mid-game, it will survive till the end and also defend its points.
I hate myself speaking like this. This, I find, is the wrong spirit of the game. But I'm tired of being swept from the field... I'm playing against my friends, not telling the story of the armies in Old World. The campaign is totally secondary, no-one else thought much about it, and now I don't either. This has evolved into competitive list-building and competitive gaming. :(
Oh yes, I'll add some pics of the minis here. Or on the Facebook site. But not of the games, I think.

1 game of 40K 4th Ed. (yes, really)
Several games of BattleTech.
-
8th ed WFB with modified army lists and campaign rules.
Though the march to the battle was long and hard ...

I know what You mean Zygmund. I used to have the same problem with a 40K camapign, which I was playing with my friends. It was just a one, long grind session. No fun at all.
-
Still playing BB and Dreadball. Love both of those.
Re-invested almost all my old mini's into board games - almost 200 now. Easier to play with friends, at my age and stage of life its hard to commit to a 9A or 40K game. I still have remnants of an Empire and Brettonian army. Also some very very old metal Orks and Necrons for 40K which are pretty much shelf ornaments now.
I was thinking mini armies were a thing of the past for me. Then my son (Age 11) went out 2 weeks ago to our LGS. Its closing due to increase in online purchasing. Actually 2 stores closed on the same week, pretty sad. Anyways, he goes over with all his Birthday and Christmas money, to buy some board games at the 'last chance to buy' sale. He loves them. So I browse around and pick up a few things and then wait in the car while he finishes up. Then he walks up with 2 bags of Tau, paint and brushes, and the biggest cheese-eating grin you ever saw. Circle of Life.

And thus the addiction begins anew, passing to the next generation of wargamer.

That is awesome! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

Stories like that, warm my heart. :biggriin:

Still getting my ww2 Polish army together for Flames of War up and running. I am fielding mounted and dismounted Hussars with tank support.
I'm also working on fielding East Germans for Team Yankee.

Me, too!

I have added 2 more games of DoB in the last 4 weeks.

Warhammer Great War ... 2
Carnage and Glory: ACW ... 1
Polemos: Great Northern War ... 1
Day of Battle ... 4
Only Eleven games so far, and with another DoB game in a couple weeks that'll be 1 per month, although I've got my eyes on another game too!

Went into a game store that sells used mini's this w'end. Took my youngest son as he's decided on collecting Marines to combat his brother's Tau.
There's a few shelves with lots of figures, painted and unpainted. Generally 50-60% retail, so pretty typical. But no SM squads.
He goes to the desk (he's 9) and gives his best puppy dog eyes - shy child voice "Don't you have any unpainted marines?' Clerk says yeah, got some this morning, haven't priced them. "Can I see them" same puppy dog eyes. Guy get them, couple dozen nicely assembled Space Wolves and characters. "how much" blink blink blink. guy sighs and looks up price, looks at my kid and gives for about 25% retail. Throws in 2 extra troopers.
My son adds some paint and smiles cheerfully as he leaves. I glance at clerk as I leave, he's shaking his head.
As we get in truck my son says "Wow, that really works! Let's go again next week". I point out his allowance is almost spent. Puppy dog eyes "but you could give me more..." Nice try kiddo.
Although, maybe I could use him to buy those Eldar I saw...
I guess we are officially back in the 40K universe. Been looking at 8th ed, I think I might like this edition.

Hahaha, trained him well! :biggriin:
And welcome back in 40K!

Ah! The power of being young, at least for a little bit.
Going after his goals, and finding out what his limits are. Good lesson.
The problem with kids coming into the hobby, even that costs an adult money. :icon_wink:
Welcome back! :::cheers:::
-
YEs take advantage of your children while you still can!
-
Not a miniatures game (though I bought some cheap plastic minis for it, but they're too big for the board!) but on the topic of recruiting one's children...
Thanksgiving night I introduced my wife and daughter to Dungeon! I played when I was just a little older than my daughter, one of the kids down the street had it. We had a good time, I hope to have another family game night sometime.
