I read this years ago when I was lurking and loved it. Wow, 12 years now.
The Electors' Forum / Army of the Devoted - old white dwarf issue
« Last post by Artobans Ghost on February 21, 2018, 11:39:26 PM »
Just checking if anyone remembers an old issue of WD that had a photo spread of an sigmarite army. It had Luther I think plus flagellants etc and most importantly a devoted steam tank. The thing was magnificent and I think my copy was toasted in a flood. I would like to pattern my tank after that one but I cannot remember the name of the army or the issue it was in. I am making a new devoted army (something I wanted to do way back when) but now have the opportunity to. If someone has that issue and can post a pic of it or the WD issue # that would be great.

I found this old thread by me from way back. I just had to necro it for the benefit and amusement of the younger generation of forum-dwellers

Feel free to contribute more  :smile2:

A month in Europe then ?

Correct! Need to figure out an itinerary.
Nervous about flights with a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old.
Copy to your heart's content! Might be you'll get yours done before me, and then I'll be the one inspired and influenced by you. I'm building a second unit as I write this, along the Knights Panther ideas of the last few posts.

Those are indeed 6th edition knight bodies. The banner pole is actually the couched, charging lance from the same box, just turned upwards, cut a bit to fit, and filed to be of equal thickness all along it, unlike the tapered lances. The banner itself is from the 7th edition greatsword box, though the skull on top is from the 6th edition knight box too. The plumes of the demigryphs are also from the knight box, cut off the heads of knights.

Trickier (or costlier) to replicate as such would be the cloaks. The standard bearer's cloak is that of the Gamezone Miniatures Imperial Hero, I got that one as a birthday gift ages ago but never found any use for him, not being much into mounted characters. The two others have cloaks from the 7th edition general/bsb box, I was lucky to have obtained an extra from a package deal of all the Empire stuff owned by a guy.

It's a pretty sweet looking witch hunter.
Welcome to the Forum!

Good to see another dedicated T9A player here. I used to be one of the regulars here during the glory days of 6th edition. 7th saw less play from me for various reasons, and 8th was so uninspiring that I went idle. So idle that I only found out that WFB had been terminated in favour of Age of Ground Marines half a year or so after it happened. Then, T9A happened, and about a year ago, I got back into fantasy wargaming with a vengeance.

People here play with their Warhammer armies using a variety of game systems, but this forum still serves as a common meeting ground. I'm thoroughly migrated to T9A by now, and I try from time to time to create meaningful discussion about it in the main forum. While I'm also active on the main T9A forum (and noticed you signed up there too), this is a good place for discussions with a closer group of good old regulars. Our gaming preferences are still similar enough that relevant discussion is possible.

Maggie is truly a lady, I've seldom seen such flat surfaces come so alive as her sides, with that fading of the colour of the curves of her armour plates. She is way out of the league of my own tank, Himmelwagen.

Looking forward to seeing how you've built your HWS Imperial Guard. I was dealing with the same issue not long ago, though if you have lurked here for a while, you might know that.

Great looking tank. I like the alternating red and blue, it looks really good.

Thank you both  :smile2:

Here is just a couple of not-so-well-taken pictures of the interior.

As you can see better here, the colour scheme is asymmetric and mirrored on the two sides.

The crew was made up with the only two figures I can find that fit the inner of a Steamtank without issues: the kneeling archer body and the extremely protruded archer body, both from late 7th Edition Empire Archers kit.
Heads are two of my most favourites among the entire range: one is from 6th edition spearmen, the other from 6th edition swordsman.

Hope you enjoy!

Soon I'll have Imperial guards pictures too
