I don't, because I'm as immersed in it as ever. I only took up Warhammer for its quality sides, and ignore warts like mechanical Empire horses and End Times (entertaining as the latter was). Only interested in the good stuff, life too short to care about the flaws. So the end of the world passed me by with a shrug of shoulders. I will only ever switch setting when and if someone manages to rival Warhammer Fantasy's outstanding mass of background, quality, depth and detail level. A bit difficult, given its 30+ years of mainly brilliant development, but time will tell.

Long live the Old World!

I noticed a funny thing: many  different wargames are played pretending to set them in the World of Warhammer from KoW to Age of Schadenfreude the contrary happened rarely maybe even never  due the strenght of the original Warhammer lore.

It sits alone on the giant throne
Pretendin' bein' the god-king
A little tyke who's rather like
A puppet on a string
And it throws an angry tantrum
If it cannot have his way
And then it calls for Mom while it's suckin' its thumb
You see, it doesn't want to play
Too late to be known as Warhammer the First
It's sure to be known as Warhammer the Worst
Aos   the phony Wargame of England!

An Ode to Old World

There once was a fantasy world,
Where our Empire's banners unfurled,
To the east and to the west,
The Old World was the best,
But sadly the results of their plans,
Were to ruin the reign of Karl Franz,
Yet hark what is this,
A saviour from the abyss,
A knight of gleaming gold,
Though nothing like the old,
I'll pass this time and live in days gone by,
Of the Old World and then I sigh.

"Dressing a bear in fine silks does not make it civilised, though in the city of Kislev it could pass at court."

We will never see such a setting again. It had something for everyone. From the Tolkien fan, Sword & Sorcery lover to the history buff. Everyone could find their style of army and have it making sense without much count as.

Age of Sigmar is so much more over the top. No room for low fantasy and all is dominated by the Golden gloryboys. And stil not a single book only for the elves or the humans. Their sole purpose seem to be as sidekicks for the Stormhosters.
And without them they do not stand a chance😕
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

With recent AoS releases and the upcoming Age of Sigmar RPG, there is a chance for this setting. Who know, maybe it will prove itself as a decent game just yet.

I just like my fantasy a little less extra dimensional crazy. I want to play the underdog, humans that have a chance without adding stupid golden abominations with stupid faces lol

Then the Free People of the Mortal Realms would be your cup of tea. They are basically Imperials/Bretonnians without any of the high fantasy aspects, that the Stormcasts posses. Seriously, check out the last artworks for them. They look really cool.

Also I recommend the Dark Age of Sigmar Facebook group. It shows the AoS in a much more grimdark way, and it rocks.

It already exists the original Empire and Bretonnia, so no reason for wannabes that go here and there through magic portals....
Dark age of Sigmar = what was normal on the original Warhammer.

Oh, the world will sing of an English game
A thousand years from now
And not because he passed some rules
Or had that lofty fluff
While bonny good Warhammer leads
The great crusade he's on
We'll all have to slave away
For that good-for-nothin' Aos

Incredible as he is inept
Whenever the history books are kept
They'll call him the phony wargame of England
Aos  the phony wargame of England!

Of course there's a chance for the new, and I won't be surprised if it succeeds for at least a bit.  Although Mathi's "chance" seems to be about having a book for the Freeguild and Elves.

However the Old World still lives! :icon_biggrin: :::cheers:::

I might be reading more WFB novels nowadays than I read back in the day.

Been through Brunner the Bounty hunter's omnibus - you guys know if his story is over at the end of Dragon's Blood?

I really was digging how he finally got into his mind to after Auguste de Chegney, such a miserable man. XD

Now I'm getting into Malus Darkblade - reminds me often of Elric of Melniboné.

i really liked the Brunner series.  I think you'd like the Witch Hunter series as well.  Brunner featured in a small part in the last End Times novel

Brunner and Matthias Thulmann were some of my favourite WF heroes. C.L. Werner generally really well for a Black Library author.

C.L. Werner did a lot of good stuff for Empire in the Old World.   Robin d. Laws trilogy with Fleischer was really good

I'm liking the stuff Josh Reynolds is doing for AoS.
