I've got two of those horses (the one on the left) and was intending to convert one to a captasus for my dwarfs. Though I guess I won't now as that would require drilling into them to add the wings which would devalue them (if they truly are that valuable).

Got them for next to nothing too.  :biggriin:

Damn. To another forum member even!

   If you remember I tried to give you money for them....though I certainly wouldn't have paid the kind of money Chumley is talking about for just horses.

I personally feel that the riders and legs are much harder to find...I've chatted with several people who have extra horses in the past....but extra riders are tuff.  However I don't look on ebay for them so that may be the difference.

But that said...Rufus...you are the man!

I'm after a spare set of the rider legs .............

....... I won't tell you how many complete models I have because you would cry ............... and I got them for free too ......from another member.

I can see a pattern here though: Warhammer-Empire members are very generous.  :biggriin:

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't warhorses in the middle ages rather small... most tapestries like show knights with their feet practically dragging on the ground.

Quote
Analysis of existing horse armour located in the Royal Armouries indicates the equipment was originally worn by horses of 15 to 16 hands (60 to 64 inches (150 to 160 cm)) -wikipedia

Anywho those minies are awesome to the max!

Not entirely true. They ha to be pretty strong to be able to carry all the weight of the knight in armor and their own barding. If we follow the idea that a horse cannot carry more than 30% of their own weight they had to be pretty big. (link with XVth armor)

in those days buying an articulated suit of armour , was equivalent to the cost of a large house

That's true, but rich people had less stuff to buy too. No TV, no tablets, no sport cars, no wargaming.... an armour was considered a good asset for everybody that could afford one.

And BTW great collection, I love it!

He looks great!  And as you have pointed out...I think this is the first MM66 I've ever seen painted.  Well done.

Was it everything you hopped it would be?!

Cheers,

Blue

cheers, the models seem quite disproportionate, and basic sculpts , but the rarity makes it interesting to paint.

I can't find any MM66 on the web anywhere painted?

i'm gonna do 5 !

he is so old that the knight even seems rusted/coroded  :biggriin:
