No irony intended - I was indeed genuinely ignorant of the fact that Fandir had posted in fancy dress and meant therefore that this is what he looked like in the 'real' world.

Don't worry, I very, very rarely attempt irony in writing and I am not very good at it! In speech, however, I can be a sarcastic sod.

Oh, and I didn't feel patronised, just glad to see things for what they are instead of always relying on my own limited (oand often muddled) understanding.

Jeez, now I am worried you might think this is irony too! I could end up in an never ending circle of attempting to make you believe me!

It's a classic German-English translation error. The German word "aktuell" translates to "up to date", which is what he probably meant.

Here I am basting our lamb on a spit with nummy spices

I must be completely heartless and a carnivore because I can post these two pictures together without a bit of remorse, cute as she is, she's in a better place. My tummy. Of course this particular one is just a few days old and has to grow up yet.

He really looks like a child.....nothing I would be proud of beating.

The lamb actually looks quite tasty even though I dislike lamb meat...too strong taste I would prefer pig.

Sigh... this I why I'm really against the whole "drop to your knees when you get hit on the legs" thing in the SCA. Before I hamstrung him he was taller.

Obi and Fandir the lamb tasted very good and was quite mild in flavour, you should try icelandic breed lamb it's not as muttony as some of the more modern type breeds. Related breeds would be Shetland, Orkadian, and Spael, these breeds of sheep store their fat differently than usual and it's flavour doesn't affect the meat as much, as this is where a lot of the gamey flavour comes from.

The next night we did a 40lb beef roast on the same spit, who says medieval camping is roughing it.
