Empire!
« on: April 25, 2012, 10:17:39 AM »
I'm going to post all the new and old Empire stuff I paint in this thread. Starting with an unfinished wizard wagon!

The base isn't done, and it still needs crew. But everything about this model takes a long time! I also despair of transporting it anywhere, since it has a lot of thin plastic bits that snap off easily.

Also, before I started the wizard wagon I repainted Volkmar's war altar:

It looks OK.

On the way:

-completed wizard wagon
- 3 outriders
- laser cannon to go on a war wagon
- owlbear knights!
Hey, I could still beat up a woman!
If I wanted to.

Really liking the look of that Madjguiquickal Per'himp Whahghon, Rufus - I think they look better with a darker, less vibrant metal framework and bright planets and details.

Bronze-tastic.

I like it.

Thanks!

Ridiculously, I still haven't finished the celestial wagon. But I have done the laser...

...which fits into a handy war wagon like so.

It deserves more than a 5+ armour save now though!

Thanks everyone!

I'm cheap and didn't want to buy another wizard wagon.

I've finished my celestial wagon now too. It only took a month...

With that staff raised I suddenly picture this horrible 'occupational accident'.

Damn, that's the thing that bothers me about it! Stupid model.

Well, it also bothers me that all the planets have the same orbit, but presumably it's not meant to be an actual orrery.

Maybe all the planets actually do have the same orbit? Maybe the Warhammer World's cosmology was designed by a five year old?

I've got to say, I'm disappointed that not a single planet (from what I can tell) is shaped like a Skullz. If I end up getting this kit, I'm going to remedy that. I'm also going to do exactly what Rufus did with the War Wagon...

It was awfully restrained of them not to make a skull planet!

The model still has skulls all around the rim of the centre cage, and a few more holding up the book on the pulpit, so it's not exactly skull-free.

yes, nice job of assembly and painting, I will steal the war wagon idea, thanks.  Only a month? obviously GW did not put enough fiddly bits in this kit.  I dropped mine and it has taken me a month to find all the parts.  :icon_lol: steveb

Very nice work Rufus, I especially like the war wagon showing back up in a viable way.

Classic example of dry British humour. I couldn't help but laugh out loud here in the office!

Nice Hurricanum Rufus !

Reminds me I need to photograph mine.

And apparently great minds think alike, for I was planning the same war wagon conversion...

Great use of the War Wagon rufus.

I like the 'drop in' idea, so it can go back to being a Carrochio at will, or if there is a crane around.  :engel:

Someone else had a similar 'drop-in' job I recall - 023?
However I cannot remember what it was ...............

My older steam tank (the one that's half war wagon and half tank) does the same thing - it can switch between volley gun, steam gun and mortar. Not that there's any point in that now.

Less excitingly, outriders:

Now I need to find the other ones. I should have four more somewhere.

Still not sure if I want to keep my owlbear knights, or if they look rubbish. I'm not too impressed by the models.
