I’m not going to run... was just going to write it up?

New thread each competition, and new thread for each vote. Sticky for reference on overall competition details and schedule of entry categories.

That sounds like running it to me, and I'm ok if ya do, go for it.  :icon_biggrin: :::cheers:::

I like the idea of having a overall reference thread that includes the schedule of the Empire Conversion Contests, and then having a separate thread started when each individual contest starts, and a separate voting thread for each contest.  And have the threads in the Empire Skills forum area.

Excellent, thank you! :icon_cool: :eusa_clap:

the only thing is I want the competition to be totally unique when making your characters, units, Cavalry, mounted character, etc.....this will truly require thinking outside the "cannon" of the Empire rules book, yet still retain the spirit of the old world.   :::cheers:::

So this would be a "think up a unit and make a conversion to match" kind of contest?

I don't WFB any longer, but I still have a list of some conversion ideas and rule tweeks to go along with them from my Empire/DoW days.  I would share those but have no physical representation of them.  Unless someone wants to flesh out my idea as a colaboration?

If I recall correctly this was 8th ed..... blunderbus + (panda) Bear's Anger + some sort of flaming thing... In-game combo with a missed modeling opportunity.

Just like...

Flaming Angry Bear Pidgeon Bombs!

Not exactly. I can set the sticky and the structure, and summarise the idea of what is being done.
The structure has been done before, so thats just me sharing experience of what works.

Litte chance I will remember to start the thread on the 1st day of a month, close threads, opening voting threads, count votes, close voting, etc.

As 023 mentioned, those mounted crossbows were from an earlier edition.  Earlier than I have ... lol.  The picture does kind of look like a Dwarf.  Back in the days of the W-E online campaigns, mounted crossbows were a unit.  Believe I still have the army lists, and wondering if the most recent one I recall being from the Treachery and Greed event has more than just humans listed as the riders.  Although it probably could eb used with what ever figures a person put on them.

Well the first contest is only expected to be about a month long (probably the sooner we start it the better), so if you can set the pace with your experience, then we can learn from it, thanks!

this has to be a bit different then the painting contest we have had before so we can get more participation. To help this have maximum participants I want to have the prizes known up front if you guys think that would be ok. So ill pick three prizes based of the contest and GP will provide the other three? is that right?

I think somebody had a bit too much to drink this evening. :icon_wink:

Well... yes. But that's not actually relevant here. Those are old images and based on actual 8th ed. combos -- translated somewhat literally.

Dwarvish? Nay. Simply Manly Imperial Beards. I fear the forum is losing its way...

The army entry was from 3rd & at that time Citadel was still producing historical figures, the Empire & Bretonnian figures crossed the line between fantasy & historical. Foundry still produces some of them, including a few mounted crossbow. Not with beards, though.

BACK to the current competition... What are we doing first? I've got a couple of ideas (much more tame than the pics above  )

Zac keeps confusing us ... lol.  My sense was this was a converting contest, not a painting contest. :icon_cool:

From Zac's earlier comments, the idea for this contest is to convert figures and units using GW bits into itmes that GW did actually make themselves, so to speak.

Here is the proposed schedule so far of the conversion contests ...

For March 31:  A hero on foot

May 31: A cavalry unit (5 or more figures)

July 31: A warrior priest on foot

Sept 30:  An infantry detachment (10 figures)

Nov 30: A wizard on foot

Jan 31:  An infantry unit (20 or more figures)

The idea is that such items will have conversions, in other words bits from multiple kits, that make up the figures.
