Hey I just started painting again a couple of months ago. Last time I painted, I was 12. Now I'm 19. Please critisize the hell out of me, I post images to improve. Been looking through the forums a while before joining and I have seen INCREDIBLE work. Really helped me improve much already. Thx!

Criticize? There is no much to criticize, very solid work. Maybe try to prepare models better before painting - there are some minor visible mould lies, like on the bucket and end of the stick. The face is great. Keep up posting!

I realized when I was half finished with him. Didn't really pay much attention to that when glueing him together.

Very solid table top quality!
The high light could be made better if you used several thinner layers of paint. You don't have to let it dry completedly between the layers, but instead of trying to apply the high light in one pencil stroke, I think if helps to carefully work it on to the model.
Difficult to describe by words, but I hope it helps. Your best tutorial will be practice.

Was just about to post mortar when the forums bugged out.

But here it is.

Also did a remake of an old standard bearer for an old spearmen unit too make the overall look of the unit a bit better. He had thick paint etc. etc.

Thanks for the response guys :)

Wow, the wood "lines" on the mortar carriage look outstanding! I also think you paint faces very, very well.

The standard bearer looks great! I especially like the neat high light on his shoulder!

Nice colours that "Claret and Blue", and what can be more appropriate than a couple of Empire Hammers .............

Do it! :D

Really, really nice faces Eldjin! But if you want me to point at your flaws, I'd say your white seems a bit runny. It seems the pain has run into the cracks of the puff and slash, especially on  the crewman. Other than that, they look great! Maybe a bit too much shine on the red cloth, but if it was intentional then leave it :-)

Love the wood grain, too! Care to explain how you do it?

Grain is just carefully highlighted with vommit brown on bestial background then set back abit with a thin devlan mud wash, and yes i REALLY have to buy new white paint. it's really bad. and the shine on the red cloth is just the flash from the camera=my poor photo skillz. doesn't look that shiny in reality.
Thx for the tips and I'll update in a week when I'm back from Turkey!

I can't criticise the technique, which is superb.

Only advice I have is to limit your palette, because too many colours can break the uniformity of a unit and make it look messy on the table; but that's a subjective thing.

Thanks! I'll think of that on the rest of my units.

Was mostly a test on those flaggelants. I was thinking that maybe it wouldn't matter as much on that kind of unit.

I'm sticking to white and red on the more uniform units.

Half the effort is being NEAT!!

Very nice work :icon_exclaim:
Then make three times that. It should be enough for half the roof Glue
You could certainly amass quite a collection of testicles

Really great painting.

Here is my critique:

I can see some mold lines here and there. Especially on the mortor. The wood grain paint job you did is pretty awesome and I'm amazed you did it so simply with just 2 colors and a wash. But the Mold lines really stick out.
For Wissenland and the Countess!!!

Do not be too focused on detail right now, worry about the overall look... minor flaws will all disappear as your army gets bigger.
