Hmmm ... not that really important to me at those prices.  Moving right along ...

This will then reinforce de-prioritising humans and dwarves no doubt from any upcoming release cycles.

That's an interesting thought.

Took a look out of curiosity, and the prices don't seem surprising at all, at least on the US site. They seem just slightly more than typical similar minis or even the prices those were last sold for.

Not that I'd pay them, which is why I passed on them the first time around.

Same. I bought my Ludwig when first released when it wasn’t quite as painful. I never understood why they were prices so expensive though. Though that applies for a lot of GW models nowdays.

Some of the rank & file prices aren't bad. But the characters have been costly for a long time. They seem to be moving away from individual characters on foot or horse sized mount, though, and mostly doing giant beasts & "centerpiece" models for characters. Maybe they weren't selling a lot of $40 single models on horses...

I wonder why?

Centerpiece characters are fun, but not very good for a strategy game IMO.

Really cool to see those heroes again. I'm considering getting Ludwig as I don't have a mounted BSB model. Had they brought the Mad Count back, I would get him in an instant!

EDIT: then again he would be finecast probably. Bummer!

I actually have the older (5th edition) Ludwig, you can buy him from me if you want.

Thanks for the offer Konrad, but I am not a great fan of the old sculpt. Come to think of it I am not that big of a fan of the new sculpt either, I was just looking for an excuse to get a cool limited model for my army. But I really don't want it that badly, I would consider it if it would cost roughly half of what they are asking for it. Well....if I ever decide I can't live without it there's always eBay or those Russian guys who make OOP resin GW stuff (supposedly in better quality than GW itself).

At least they are up-front with it I guess? The amount of re-casts sold  on eBay as genuine GW products is high as it is.

EDIT: not that I encourage re-casting for sales purposes. More that buying oop stuff from ebay you are still likely to end up with a re-cast model.

I picked up Louen Leoncoeur as my Bret army needs some more love. He's not worth the points in 8th like most of the Bret Army  but he looks great and is a centrepiece for my army at least.

Terrible prices as expected though

I still need 2 trebuchets, the Green Knight and the Grail-Reliquaes so hopefully they come back. I'm going to have to Kitbash the Questing and Grail Knights as there's no way I can afford their prices either second hand or recast

Ebay is really that bad? Here in Poland, the Bretonnian second-hand figurines are really quite cheap. :engel:

I've thumbed through some of my old white dwarfs from the 2012's, to see what was the price tag on those mounted heroes when they were converted to finecast from metal. Turns out the price was...the same! At least the Fay Enchantress and Kurt. Marius Leitdorf was the same price as Kurt, so I can imagine Ludwig was a bit more (haven't located him so far, he must be in WD 389 which I don't have).

I think we've all just forgotten how pricey these were back in the day. Kind of makes sense why I didn't pick up any of them.

I don't mind the prices but I do mind that they have made them in finecast.
I would have bough the 2 bret models if they were pewter.

I was thinking of adding Leon to my existing Bret army as the centrepiece then I realised if the Brets deserve ANYTHING as a centrepiece it should be a giant, wooden rabbit

Isnt the large troll with the cape [cant remember his name] a relatively new model as he was made within the last 8-10 years. He seems like an odd choice for a 'Legends' choice

Throgg The Troll King.   He hasn't been around for 2.5 years, and there were a fair few people asking for him for Made to Order. He was around before Finecast, so that's maybe at least 5 years ago.   I don't remember when he was first released, but your guess of 8-10 I'd say is about right, just from the sculpting style.  I think with one or two exceptions, a lot of the Made to Order models so far have been stuff from what was in the range when Warhammer Fantasy Battle was ended.    I can only think of Mengil's Manhides and a few Blood Bowl teams that were older that have been on a Made to Order

Had a friend who made the troll army with the king controlling it. I thought it was super cool.

I've personally never seen that Troll model before, and if I thought I'd ever get to use him I'd buy him. As for the others, the first two tie in nicely with the newly released Beastmen I suppose.

Okay new made to order stuff us up and this stuff I remember the prices much better from when they were available. They are the same, almost exactly. I was thrown last time when the Empire stuff seemed more expensive. I was a big fan when the Throgg troll first came out and I distinctly remember being annoyed with much he costs.
