Converted to US dollars... Still for crack smokers. Some of those old RoR work out to being like $20 per figure. I've kept my eyes on some of the more realistic auctions lately, as I'm thinking about clearing some stuff out, and there's no way the market is even close to that.

I unintentionally always help people out. If I know something is worth $60 USD and they start it at $9.95 USD I may bid $20 USD whether I want it or not. Is this evil? Am I a shill bidder? No cause I like the item and want it but no worries if I don't get it. Just don't want it to go to cheap cause then people won't buy my stuff if I am selling the same thing. Lol.. I am not in collusion with anyone. No, cause I would buy it if I get at that price whether I know the guy or not or I had intended to get it.

WTF?

Bids on things he doesn't want, just because he doesn't want other people getting a good deal? And the he gets to feel good by claiming he's "help(ing) people out" (the sellers) as well as maintaining higher market prices so he will get better prices when he sells items?

Seems dickish.

What an asshole. Not having good deals kills the only reason for using Ebay.

which name on the link?  Seemed a lot of stuff to filter through, definately a scam though.  It's an anonymous auction loophole that is being exploited by CSer sellers.  From the bit of reading I was able to do.  Explains some of the nonsense I've seen elsewhere on E-bay too.  Thanks for the link.

What an asshole. Not having good deals kills the only reason for using Ebay.

Experienced, active sellers do this all the time for each other.  They bid on other, similar seller's stuff to keep something from going too cheap, thus lowering the price on their later auctions.

Ebay was a good idea, a long time ago.

Ebay is still good. But you need to be prepared to wait for a chance to pounce a good deal. You need to be selective, and you need time. Actually, that makes it still pretty awesome for my mini-collecting self.

For me it's a time investment issue. I've got better things to do with my life than spend the required time:

- Hunting for deals.
- Sniping or investing in sniping software.
- Bidding on 100 auctions, hoping to get that one "great deal."

And on the selling end, I don't feel like investing the time into joining some sort of secret sellers' clubhouse to get other people to bid on my stuff to drive up the price on those occassions I'm looking to sell a few odds & ends.

Ebay was a good idea, a long time ago.

That more or less sums up my attitude towards eBay.

When eBay became a professional business tool rather than something for the casual house-cleaner & private deal seeker -- when it became a way of life -- is when it started to become irrelevant to me.

Usually my rate is nowhere near 100 auctions to get a great deal. More like watch 20, and 1 or 2 will turn out to be good.
But I agree that the rate at which I find good deals has declined considerably since I started using ebay a few years ago.

Yea, i know that there are kislev fans out there and that some of these models go for close to or even more than the original retail price.

But 245 Euros? Dream on....

I don't know enough about the prices of 40k stuff, but the thing that strikes me is that the guy posted an auction for which he was not prepared:

1. He's going out of town and will not be able to reply for a while.

2. He only has one picture and will post more later.

That sends up red flags for me as someone who does things half-way or not well thought out. Why not just wait a few extra days until you're back home, and then take some more pictures?

Haha, well the seller is from Greece, so maybe it is an attempt to earn this month's pay.

In his defense, it is a really beautiful conversion and paint job, and he probably invested a lot of time into it.

Ebay really isn't worth it to me anymore.  I simply don't have the time to invest.  I have a guy in Deleware who has everything you can order, sells for 20% off, and has free shipping.  Not much more you can askl for.  It is new, in the box, and fantastic!

As was said, ebay is now a place mostly used by stores.  Private trades are becoming more rare, and deals are few and far between.

Out of production stuff.

That's mainly the reason I look at all.
