Chumley its not that difficult to do a head swap on these models as I did it myself.  This way the rank and file halberds will look much more interesting & less like a copy and paste of the same guy all over the unit.  However this is my take on it & I understand that some people like to have the same guy in the same position all over a unit as it makes the unit feel as if it is arrayed in order on a parade ground...........so it is up to you really & I know you will do a nice job on these guys whatever you decide  :engel:

regarding the head swaps, I am not saying it can't be done, but due to the scale difference you might not be pleased with the result, about the only bit that I have found that works with these battlemasters, is the armored sword and armored left arm from the militia kit, although the heads of the first plastic state troops might do since they were a tad bit smaller than the current troops.  What I would suggest you trying, is feather/plume swaps, it will make a difference when you mass the troops  together, the plumes are quite visible, as opposed to changing the body as in a head swap. You cant change the pose very much and the feathers stick up there for all to see. Just a suggestion, I am sure that whatever you do will turn out just fine.  steveb

Wow, Battlemasters, I forgot all about that game!  That kept me very busy on Christmas when it came out, loads of models and that sweet watchtower.

For the head swaps, I have about 30 spare plastic Perry mercenary heads if you want them. They're slightly smaller than normal GW scale, so they would probably look right at home on the Battlemasters figs. Just shoot me your address if you want them and I'll get them mailed to you.

Look it is tiny Tim in his new armour!

Nice paintjob but IMO a horrible sculpt.

Very nice work indeed... You know, the more I see your work mr chumley, the more I want to adopt the Nordland colors for my own army. My only critizism with this particular paintjob - and I know that I'm nittpicking here - is that the spacing of the stripes on the lance are a little uneven at some places. It's not a big thing, the only reason I mention it really is because the standard of your painting is so high that there is really isn't much else one could critizied on that model.

Nolin - your correct, I used medical tape, to wrap round, to make the lines crisp , but the lance is oddly shaped, and it didn't work 100% as planned.

Also I agree with Shadowlord, the sculpt is pooooor

I saw it on the GW website, and thought it looked nice,

but it's small, tricky, detail is scratchy and generally annoying.....

My aim is to present 140 Halberds next game!

one block of 70 with a BSB using the mask of EEEEE (causes Terror!)  and a WP using Crown of Command (stubborn), and then two blocks of 30 with FC.

i figure a 70 man block with terror and stubborn , buffed by magic, and WP spells like unbreakable , might be the anvil that i need !

140 Halberds! That would take me another 10 years of painting.

Take a picture all together when they are painted, please. It will be an impressive sight.

Very nice Knight Sir, with the right colors. (I better get started).

I hate to be a stick in the mud...but I hate to see you wasting your considerable talent on such horrible miniatures... I hope they were cheap!

I think the battle master stuff is just terrible...but YMMV.

At least I can say they look good...for BM figures... :engel:

Cheers,

FBjorn had inspired me to buy and paint the MC mini!

Took me 2 hours last night and 2 this morning, plus time taken prepping and undercoating the other day.

I undercoated white, painted a wash of cream, then used ink wash dark brown on the whole model, then it was easy, just picked out the amazing detail with colours and left the shadow in place..
