This was an interesting dig ... "The Puzzle of Picket Farm (South Perrott, Dorset)" ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsjk2PxXac8

They managed to determine activity at this sight spanned quite a lengthy period of time.  The mapping of the activity and how the geography of the area well beyond the dig was shown was also fascinating.

Found out that the Time Team program aired from 1994 to 2013.

The first several years there were 4 to 6 episodes.  Over time this went up to 13 episodes per year, plus a number of "special" episodes for a total of 280 shows.  That'll keep folks busy for awhile ... lol!

Here's another one ... "the case of the missing castle" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6S5kckxM1Y

Sometimes I like hearing the history and cultural things that get brought up in  the course of these shows, and in this case the ideas put forward regarding how and why this may have developed were enjoyable to learn.

Whats a good thread for more random history videos GP? I've got some fun ones I like, but they don't exactly fit Archaeology and I don't want to derail! Maybe just the Happy Random thread.

Musician John Kenny brings the music of the past alive playing a replica of the Deskford carnyx, an Iron Age war trumpet that dates from 80-200AD.

And here's a replica of a Roman Cornu being played, just to set the stage of opposing horns:

I wish I could go digging for Roman treasures in my back yard, but we fought them off this far north. Plus living in one of the most densely populated countries in the world with the densest populations to the south where there's more people will probably have pretty much ended chances of me finding anything.

Here's an interesting Timeline video on a series of dwellings on the north coast of Cornwall ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DY7f_YVoKU

Seems like quite the level of trading going on over a 1,000 year period of time, lovely to see what this provided.

Another Timeline video ... this time about the actualities of the "Anglo-Saxon" era ...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErA2hDJwWVY

... an interesting perspective where the theory of and "invasion" of England by Saxons, Jutes, and Frisians is called into question with the archaeology being done, and the looking at language and linguistics.

What is wrong with that theory? I'll watch that video later but what's the TL;DR of it?
