Some armies just can’t deal with that.  A great tactic. But you have to coupe with people using units to create 9” deployment zones buffers and forcing the unit away from their army apart from chaff then getting shot up.

doesn't everyone do this all the time? It seems like one of the first cornerstones of a battle from my limited experience.

Yes, but you will still engage/destroy 3-4 units, potentially tie up another on the consolidate, and have a thirster and massive unit of bloodletters in the the enemy deployment area for their next turn.  On turn 2, 2-3 units of bezerkers arrive and a max unit of juggernauts.

Plenty of armies can "handle" that, but it isn't comfortable for any army to come under than much pressure.  The thirster and letters are almost a distraction for the bezerkers.  I have yet to see anything withstand world eater bezererkers who arrive in combat untouched.

If you don't like how the enemy is deploying or if they have too many buffers, you can save the deep strikers for turn 2 and hit at the same time as the bezerkers.

Fair.

I think this was my least favourite thing about 8th ed tbh.

Yeah, it certainly can be game ruining but I think it actually helps offset the brutality of shooting gunlines.  They end up including those buffer units and are still pressured.  Being able to fall back from combat was and continues to be a big problem for melee armies, but stuff like this help offset that.

My biggest issue with 8th is the lack of cover mechanics that matter and the fact that model placement within a unit is irrelevant.

Thanks Xanth!  My first army was chaos marines and my second model I ever owned was a 1997 Bloodbthrister.  I really like how this guy came out.

I was going to get another but I’ll want and get Angron.

The first model we ever deemed unfit for play was a Bloodthirster!
 :-D

Second edition WHFB (I think?), we had a beautiful battle Chaos vs. Empire set up. Empire was in a fortification in the middle (think walled manor) and set to receive reinforcements, Chaos on the attack. BT flew in and pretty much killed a unit per turn. It had straight 10s as a statline IIRC. Anyway, Empire quit in disgust and we banned it from further use!

Good times.

The general of that empire army would hope he had no survivors to tell the tale of his leadership 😺

We had no idea what we were doing, we were playing 1-2 times a year (mostly around christmas, with terrain building sessions beforehand), and we simply used what models people had. My brothers pal bringing that 'Thirster was like dropping a T-Rex into a petting zoo.

Ha yeah.  I should correct this, my very first army was beastmen.  I them got an Empire army.

My first 49k army was Chaos Marines in 2000.  The first model I ever owned was an Azazel model a friend gifted me to get me into the game.  I then got the bloodthirster and started buying beastmen.  Never used the thirster until I had my cahos marines though!

Yeah I may have a difficult summer.  Orks are supposed to arrive in June.

Hoping I can get my Bezerkers and demons all based and painted this summer.

I don't NEED anymore orks but I will likely GET more...

Finished another ten bezerkers giving me thirty total.  There are lots of plasma pistol guys here because my other two units were lacking.  I run two per unit.  These feature mostly forgeworld world eater kits.  I also made a pair of giant chain axes.  I need to weather them, chip them, and add some blood to a few, but I am going to balance that when I have all thirty laid out to make sure it isn't over done.

All I have left for my 1500 point army is three rhinos.  This is my first one.  I did it in about four hours.  It was in rough shape being used but I think it came or nice enough.

These pictures were prior to adding mud to the tracks.

I like the weathering done. It's not to much, but it's enough to show not everything's pristine.

We played a four way, 1000 point per side game of Carnage over the weekend.  What fun!  1v1v1v1 is a neat way to play.  Game took forever.  Three hours to get two turns in but the rules make it a lot of fun.

The sides: World Eaters, Dawn Bringers, Tyranids, and Iron Warriors.

I did really well, killing a ton but it wasn't enough!  The Tyranids snagged the objective twice through massive numbers!  But the Blood God was satisfied since the World Bearers reaped so many lives!
