I like French cheese a lot. Also, in the Netherlands we got a lot of good cheese and we eat a lot of cheese here.

On a lark, picked up some English cheddar, and it has been quite the treat! :icon_biggrin:

I know cheese lasts a while, but GP, if the cheese is from 2014 it will be off, I'm certain.

Hmmm ... ok, well it says it was packed in August 2017 after 30 months of aging, which make sit made in March of 2015.

I've not had English cheddar previously, but I'm enjoying this one.  I've had small slices, and put it on ham sandwiches, and melted it inside an omlette, and I haven't been disappointed yet.  I got a little bit over a half a pound, and there's not much left, but at $11.99/pound, it's a bit expensive, but seems to be worth it.

A bit of a ways back, I enjoyed a Welsh cheddar, and it definitely had a smoother mouth feel and taste to it, but I liked the harder feel with a wee sense of cream to it with the English cheddar.

(It was a joke, GP, referring to the threadomancy of 2014 to 2017. Not a good joke, admittedly, but I'm not a professional!)

Been enjoying cave aged cheddar cheese from Kilchurn Estates of England.

It goes real good inside an omelette.  Although I've enjoyed it as a snack by itself or with crackers too. :icon_biggrin:

There is a small cheese shop in my city (Calgary), tucked away in a strange location.  Fun to visit.  With 100's of little packages of all sorts of fun and tasty cheese to buy and sample.  I very much enjoy the several types of Welsh Cheddar.

I never remember any of the cheeses 4 weeks after they're gone so I end never getting the same thing twice, but I'm never disappointed when I visit.  Current one in fridge is local somethingsomething cheddar with slight toffee flavour, I'm on the fence about it.

+++

BTW - they hate Monty Python with a passion.  The shop isn't that far from a University and a Tech college.  Guess which jokes they hear 20 times a day, every day.  Every. Single. Day.
Sometimes the "Old Ones" just need to leave.....

Seems like a place worth visiting!

Bummer regarding the folks who twist Monty into their shop.

Just had some Gouda cheese made by Clarina Vintage Cheese located in the Netherlands.  It is a lusciously soft creamy cheese with a slight chewyness that combined tastes homemade and yummy.

Having it as an appetizer with Kim Crawford Pinot Noir from New Zealand 2018.  Goes very well together!

I am cooking "Friendship" soup.  It starts with 3/4 of a pound ground beef cooked on 2 tbsp of olive oil, 1 chopped medium onion, 1 chopped garlic clove, salt and pepper, and then in goes a cup of tomatoes, 2 tbsp of tomato paste, 4 cups of water with spices, dried peas, corn, and lentils, a liitle bit of rice or barley or both, plus spices. After coming to a boil, it gets turned down to simmer for 45 minutes, and then a wee bit of pasta cooked for another 15 to 20 minutes, unitl the peas, corn, lentils and pasta are soft.  Serves probably 4.

Love Gouda!

If possible you might want to try the Gouda made by Thunder Oaks here in Thunder Bay.
I choose too keep "Old Warhammer" alive with my blood sweat and tears.

It's bad that warhammer might die but it would be a tragedy if it stays dead!
