That is a great looking unit of Pistoliers. I especially like the champion and the standard bearer. Wish they had that option...
Is there any specific reason the Pistoliers aren't on your usual paved bases?

Thanks guys!

Only the Reiksguard on foot and some heroes have some paved bases atm. (It's really tedious as I did all the bases with greenstuff). All the cavalry will be on soil and grass bases. The autumn theme (fallen leaves etc.) and movement trays should tie all the units together visually.

Is it me, or are the Pistoliers based on the Finnish 'hakkapallitas'; the historical troops with three-quarter plate and dual wheel-locks?

Sorry guys, some threads just cry for necroing.

Did you finish this project, Victor? Can you provide us a photo of the whole army?

Darn! I was all excited for a moment. Victor's Reiksguard is what inspired the bases for my Vampire army...

Threadomancy deluxe! I'm back - even though I was never gone. I can't believe it has been almost 3,5 years since I last posted something. I wasn't completely unproductive during all that time, even though I am a very slow painter. It just took me ages (literally years) to do some final touch ups and to take some half decent photos! But now I did it. Here is what I was/am up to:

The Reiksguard battle standard bearer with the Empire coat of arms:

Hauptmann Marcus Machold, Baron von Waldbrunn:

The banners, once again, were designed in photoshop (or downloaded), printed on paper, painted over by hand and glued onto the flags. It took me about 200 hours to complete this unit.

Great work! great photography! very inspirational.  I would say more, but I now feel the need to go paint something, I guess it is a Pavlovian type thing after seeing something this good.  steveb

Labor of love! ....and a good opportunity to remind myself of your earlier stuff. very inspirational  :eusa_clap:

I also dabble in these paper print out -> glue to banner myself, albeit clumsily. How do you get it to be so seamless? Is the paper pretty much covering the entire banner face? Is it regular thickness paper? I can't tell where the paper ends and the metal starts.

also, please fix the link to your command group. we want more goodness!

Do yourself a big favour and use a decent ink printer and not a laser printer - the ones I have access to, are bad at printing pictures, so you really have to paint over everything. Cuting the paper into shape is quite tricky. I usally print the banner in question in several sizes as I am never 100% certain how big it needs to be. In the two examples above both paper-banner-cut-outs are pretty much the size of the metal banner. I use regular copy paper and in order to cover up transitions, you can use some layers of paint. I'm not going to lie - the whole thing sounds pretty straight forward, but probably takes longer than painting the thing free hand (if you are able to do so).
