New box set has been announced that looks pretty sweet. Called Forgebane, it's Ad Mech vs Necrons as they fight over a forgeworld that turns out to be built on a buried Tomb World.

Anyone know what the price on this is going to be? Could be a means of bolstering some unfinished forces
-
Cheers for having these 2 armies. I have neither but like them both. Love those mini knights as well.
-
they reckon it might be around a 100 quid, the article itself metiones that the box is cheaper than all the units sold separately ( Not counting the knights and cryptec)
-
I like the Ork figure that showed up on that page when I clicked into it. Anyone know how much that costs?
-
I don't have an orc figure on my page GP. It might be a directed ad or something on the website showing us different stuff.
I like the look of the box set. I havn't got any necrons, but I've been planning to start Ad Mech for a while and turn my guard into a combined Imperial Army. I like the two little baby knights. I'm surprised by what looks like a power disparity in the forces. They mention at one point that each baby knight is a super heavy slot, but the necrons don't look like their geared up to take down super heavies. Maybe it relies on scenarios, or the knights are a bit towards the weaker end.
-
That's what I was afraid of.
I want the Ork figure! :icon_lol:

Yeah, they're very cool, not much bigger than a Leviathan Dread tough. I hope they'll make their way to Heresy.
-
I kind of like the Adeptus Mechanicus figures, but ... I want that Ork figure! :icon_lol:
-
I still tend to buy these sorts of sets as it works out to be cheaper than buying the units seperatly
-
I agree. And what is cool is I get some cool figures, even though I won't ever likely own a whole army.
-
I really want those mini knights but nothing else
-
I really want the mini knights, and I'll take the opportunity to make ad mech support for my guard but I can't say I'm desperate for them. The necrons I could take or leave. My friend wants them so maybe I'll trade or hang onto them for roleplay stuff.

Here's a unit focus for the Armiger Warglaive from the set.

-
Does the set come with rules?
-
Yes. it should come with all the rules for the units (Although maybe not points value but power instead.) as well as rules for the campaign/scenario.
-
I wonder how many points they'll cost. I'm liking their style more and more, with each day.
-
is there a price for this yet?
-
i've seen it mentioned on different sources,(kiriothtv reddit etc) that it will be 125 euro's or 95 pounds
-
The GW store told me yesterday it was $$190 Canadian.
-
£95, separate total to contents is £250
-
I HOPE Kill team will be cheaper than that. Jesus.... I started so well with last ed. with affordable start boxes. Then they went back to over the top....
-
It's better to compare it to the game starter sets like Dark Imperium, or one of the boxed sets like Betrayal at Calth. I'm looking forward to Kill Team as well, and I'm interested to see how it compares to Necromunda or Shadows.
-
Indeed. I hope they release the rules separately as they did with Shadowwar. But I am also hoping for a faster game that takes less space and that I can teach my 8-year old. Shadowwar is a tad too advanced.
-
nbot really a normal starter set is it, it's a heavfily discounted kit for the armigers
-
The kit is 10)% all about the new knights. In fairness, that's pretty much whats drawing me to it in the first place.
That'll show my usual Chaos All Tank player I face.
-
I really want those new knight models. I hope GW releases them separately; I don't want to shell out for the whole set just now
-
people seem to suggest they are too many points.
-
It depends on your general philosophy. They are basically supped up Dreadnaught. If you find Dreads aren't super effective then these guys will likely struggle for the same reasons.
-
they're half the points of an equivalent knight, so 2 of them gives you roughly the same firepower and resilience, more board presence potential for objectives, but lacks the special super walking rules for walking out of combat etc.
-
Yeah, and thats really the best thing about things like Gork and Morkanauts and knights. Being able to leave combat, shoot, and assault again is massive.
Walkers are much better this edition, but 240 is a fair amount of points for a jacked up dread. That being said, I still run Contemptor in my marine army.
-
Meh, the models are nice, but the rules are average. I think it would be a better idea to invest in a Leviathan Dreadnought instead, or take a couple of Contemptors.
-
Can Ad Mech take Contemptors?
-
Can Ad Mech take Contemptors?
As allies only. But I was mainly talking about Armigers being taken in other armies, which, I assume, you can do, just like normal Knights. Right?
-
these squires are not ad mech, they are knights. So can only be taken same way as contemptors!
I've never actually played with or against a knight though, but think I can buy 2 armed Onagers for the cost of 1 squire. If they had been a bit better I might have had my arm twisted to buy a box and sell everything else on ebay, but my hobby spending is drastically diminished after i've been on strike fighting the man.
-
But now you can suit up as a knight to fight the man! Challenge him to a game of plastic soldiers, winner gets everything.
If it worked in Childrens TV shows it works in real life right?
I'm more of a collector at this point so I'm not super worried about the points cost. They are a bit towards the expensive side point wise, but currently my Guard doesn't have a great deal of options to deal with some of the super heavies I see on the field. Until I get a few more tanks the Armingers could be useful to go tank hunting themselves.
-

Contemptors are a little more work to fit in. You can take a Lord of War formation which carries no penalty for the Squires. A Contemptor requires at least a Marine HQ to accompany him.
-
I do not get this rush for walkers, and dreads and knights.
If you have somekind of problem the best solution is always to....
FIX BAYONETS!
-
Mathi you havn't stopped to consider the thought of fixing bayonets to the big knights! Charge them into close combat where knights belong! In the Melee!
(Actually everything I've seen about them suggests they wouldn't do well against hordes, so focus on charging the big stuff.)
-
Really big bayonets solve everything!
-
Put some chainsaws on those bayonets. Everythings better with bayonets and chainsaws.

There are actually chainbayonets in 30K. My Alpha Legion uses some of them. :biggriin:
