Title: The Cult of Sigmar presents: The Trial of Zak (Character Information)
Post by: Zak on March 13, 2018, 10:35:13 PM
https://youtu.be/iMXDkMtnAQQ

HEAR YE, HEAR YE!!! It has come to the attention of agents of Sigmar that Zak has been accused of chaos worshiping to include summoning chaos minions, eating babies, and conducting dark rituals otherwise deemed very nasty by Imperial law and Canada; He is now within custody of the Witch hunter’s guild awaiting trial by Arch-Lector Mathi Alfblut of the cult of Sigmar.
This trial will be played out with a live audience of players, sooo we need volunteers to be the following:

 1-Narrator (GM) me

 2-Judge:  Arch Lector Mathi Alfblut

3-Defense : The Honorable Defense Lawyer: Gankom

4-Prosecutor : The Arch Lector will prosecute the scum

5-Jury members Warlord the Rat Catcher,Artobans the Agitator, BAWTRM the Bone Picker, Commandant the Charcoal-Burner, Valmir the Barber-Surgeon

6-Witch hunter ...The Mighty Witch Hunter Cannonofdoom

7- Representative of the College of Wizards  ( twists!)  ( NPC)

 8-Accused Zak (NPC)

I will message those player characters with information they have in order to bring evidence to the court. ( or i can do it openly)  As well as, other nasty situations they may run into. Let the game begin plus you get to roast zak what more could you want!! Lol If you have an idea for a character not listed let me know !!! ............All characters must be from the old world Empire, with backgrounds that reflect this, we will see how this story takes shape!!

Lets be honest, Chaos worship would probably be legal in Canada. Yet I support this fully.

Clearly we need witnesses in this trial!

I, Arch Lector Mathi Alfblut (I am by right of Animosity RP Arch Lector of Sigmar) in my powers as judge, jury and executioner, ordained on me by the power of our most venerated and beloved Sigmar, and under the benevolent blessing of the most Holy St. Midaski was myself personally a part of the most venerable conclave that apprehended the reprehensible and most foul dabbler in matters chaotic, Zak!

Never since the crimes commited by the terrible Beast shaman GrillyP have our fair and respectable home seen such most insidious activities.

I ask Gankom, the most pious of Canadian Sigmarites, to present the absolute confession from the soon to be convicted sorcerer, Zak. If there is a wish to present a token defence, it will be tolerated and put to memory. If for no other reason as proof of the truly devious nature of Chaos.

For some obscure reason it has been made known that I cannot fullfil the role as prosecutor, even though I am the greatest prosecutor ever (note to self: Send out towncryers to publicly announce my sacking of my legal advisor).

Once more into the breech! I have come to do my civic duty. This most loyal and honest of Canadians will fight for truth, justice and hard boiled eggs in the name of Zak, should he have me. If not I'll grumble about it and sit on the jury.

BAWTRM from the Wastes of Vagueness and loyal citizen of Bögenhafen reporting for jury duty.

Btw, any rumors about a Chaos cult opening a rift to the realm of Chaos recently is a lie. And I totally didn't know the cult leader Johannes Teugen. It's not like he was the head of one of the four major merchant families of Bögenhafen or something....

You sir have been personally selected to be one of the most illustrious juror #4ish  for this most important upcoming trial of the chaos filth Zak. Remember all accused are innocent until proven guilty BUT I mean look at him!!!

Remember all accused are innocent until proven guilty

probably doesn't fly in our glorious Empire. Not once the Witch Hunters get involved anyway.

Stay hopeful though!

“Hear ye!! Hear ye!!” The town Cryer screamed. The crowd had gathered around the old tavern to hear the latest on last night’s apprehension of Zak, the local Hedge Wizard and Alchemy shop owner. “Last night at 9 bells the honorable Witch Hunters, of our most esteemed God Sigmar, arrested the old Hedge Wizard Zak for chaos worshiping, summoning of minions, and all around nastiness. They stated nothing as they hulled him away to the tower of confessions in the Temple”. A surprised look came over the crowd, one man stated, “that’s weird because he help cure my auntie of the weasel plague?’  Other murmurs could be heard, “I knew he looked shifty!” an old woman spat... Throughout the crowd both surprise and assumptions could be heard. The Cryer continued, “As we speak the authorities under Arch-Lector Mathi Alfblut is gathering jurors for the trial; that is it…. for now” the Town Cryer walked back into the Maple and Leaf tavern.

Oh wise and mighty arch lector, at least let us do this honorably and by the book. We don't want even the halflings making a mockery of our 'justice'.

"Do not make me order a prosecutor to step up! It is troubling to see the fair Empire of Sigmar fall so low as no honest and upright Sigmarite is willing to step up and make sure the town is safe from sorcery! Had this been home in Stirland I would have had to send a dozen willing prosecutors out of the door because there would not be enough cases!"

Mathi Alfblut rose in all his regalia, his twohanded hammer firmly in his grip and scanned the assembly.

"If a prosecutor is not found I WILL be forced to call on the Templars of Sigmar to and place the town under martial law due to malfunction of the court in time of danger. You do NOT want that to occur, mark my words. The Church is responsible to protect the faithful of Sigmar, at all COST!"

I’m not finding myself with a great deal of time, so I’ll just have to imagine my playing the role of the public, certain of the irredeemable guilt of the accused, until disabused by the cold light of truth at the conclusion of the trial.

Just like with OJ.

BAWTRM the Bone Picker, the night after Zak was captured by the Witch hunters, you ran into his wife Margaery in the town center, with their three daughters. The oldest daughter looked at you and turned her nose up and looked the other way. All seemed to be a bit haggard with dark circles under their eyes, as though sleep was desperately needed; they were all carrying various food stuffs from the market.

Arch Lector Mathi Alfblut,

In regards for your request for a prosecutor I hear by state that you shall have total responsibility to proceed without such a minor detail. The Temple wants this matter resolve quickly without any more delays. In the future this town will have to be purged of all unholiest. However, in the time being the College of Magic has requested that we give them a few days to allow one of their representatives to investigate the chaos worshiper, as they claim he  is one of own; it seems there is more to this Zak than we thought?  Personally,  I think we should burn them all but they sometimes are useful in battle.

Zealotry yours,

Volkma

That same day another letter arrives with the college of magic seal on it:

Arch Lector Mathi Alfblut,

Greetings your Holiness, I am writing you concerning the arrest an incarceration of the Alchemist Zak. I trust he has not yet been tortured for doing so would bring the condemnation of the Grand College of Magic down upon your heads and you know that would not look good for your political aspirations my friend… I would like for you to give us a few days; as we speak, one of our representatives is on their way to conduct an investigation of our own.

Sincerely,

Gankom:
You hear a knock at the door, “whose at the door at this time of night?” you think… you open it up and you find yourself staring at three men of the night watch. As a minor noble and part of the magistrate’s office, they knuckle their foreheads, “You need to come with us my lord, its happened again!”

Cannon:
A little after six bells, one of the Temple’s pages come into your study, saluting, he informs you that the Grand Master needs to urgently see you, “there’s been another murder sir, they are waiting to see you!” he informs you that you will find him with the Arch Lector in his Holinesses chambers.

Mathi Alfblut:

You are sitting at your desk when at 6 bells, Grand Master Toddbringer comes busting into the room, with pure hatred in his eyes; he slams his fist down on your desk! “Your holiness it’s happen again!”

Gankom:

As you are led down a small side street, by the night watchmen, you turn a corner and there you see more of the night watch standing close together talking quietly, leaning on their halberds. You notice another man, looks to be a Sergeant, kneeling over a body covered by a large dark cloak; however, by the lamp light, you can see small shoes and a smudged blue dress sticking out. You walk up to the man he looks up at you with a look a pure pity on his face. “It is one of that old hedge wizard’s girls, the middle one, me think?” He pulls back the cloak and you notice indeed its young Clara the middle child. Disturbingly, her eyes are gone; the sockets seem to be burned? ... Her mouth turned down in what could only be described as a silent scream, forever frozen, on her innocent face. “What monster could have done this my lord?” the old Sergant  spat, wiping away a tear.... in the distance you hear eight bells start to ring.

Mathi Alfblut gets out of bed as fast as he can.

"By Sigmar, Grandmaster! What is happening?"
He turns around and yells at a dumbfounded servant who is standing beside the bed with a confused look.
"Make yourself useful and HELP ME WITH MY ARMOUR!"

Once again he turn towards the Grandmaster.
"I take it this is something serious indeed. Take me to the spot as soon as I am ready. For anything. I recently got letters from both Volkmar, who instructed me to proceed with this investigation and trial regardless of wether we have a "prosecutor" or not. Never mind. I will happily act as judge, jury and executioner if need be. Works just fine back in Stirland."

He sigh and continue:
"If it had not been for those damn meddling wizards from the Colleges. They want us to wait for one of their investigators to come here. The bastard of a sorcerer then threaten me with ruining my "political future" if I proceed and burn Zak before they can talk to him. Bastard. I take it he does not know my history well enough."

Making the sign of the hammer he grimaces in disgust. "Looks like we are indeed looking at the work of some... monster. Only a chaos inspired filth could do such a thing as this."

He carefully walks aeround the crime scene, looking for anything that stands out to him. "Hmm, the eyes. What meaning does that have..."

Cannon: Six days ago

This night is like most night here in this town that seems to have little trouble from anything especially the ruinous powers.  Sometimes you wonder why they assigned you to this sleepy place. “Remember chaos is never where you expect”… a thought pops in your head. You stop walking when you hear footsteps running towards you, “My Lord, My lord!” its young Matheus, “what could he want?” He stops when he reaches you bending over panting trying to gasp for air, “My Lord you are needed, the Night watch has called for aid something wrong at the old Alchemy shop!”

Both of you hurry towards the center of town, it’s around 8 bells when you reach the shop; gathered around the center are four of the night watch, all carrying halberdiers and a few lamps. The man in charge approaches, removing his helmet scratching his balding head form nervousness, he salutes you, “My lord, we did not know who else to summon for this kind of situation?”  Just then a scream of absolute terror comes from the shop!! Your six sense goes off, “Magic! …Dark magic!” You’ve developed a keen understanding of the dark arts and this feeling is never wrong. Arming yourself with pistol and sword you approach the shop door. Looking down you see that its hanging by just one hinge and falls to the floor when you try to move it…BANG!  “Damit!!”  There goes the opportunity for surprise you think, grimacing, you push forward.

Young Matheus is behind you, the young priest training to be a hunter, “stay quiet and behind me you whisper!” You make your way towards the back of the shop, “such little light” you think, this makes thing a little more difficult as you see little but shadow, broken up by what light filters into from outside.  “AHHH!!!” another scream but this times its cut off short!! … BAM, SMASH!!!...You turn around and see that the young priest has jumped up from the noise and smashed his head against a shelf sending jars, of Sigmar knows what, down on the floor! Dam fool you think as you reach for him, “the dam fool has knocked himself out!” Sneering in irritation you walk quickly towards the scream.

You come to the top of stairs and notice a faint light down the dozen or so steps, and what sounds like a voice...chanting, maybe? A deep voice, a man’s voice, slowly walking down each step making sure not to make a noise you reach the bottom of the steps and walk around to face the room head on….. There you see a body slumped down on the floor, a woman’s body, a rictus grin frozen on her face, eternally laughing at some dark outside force. Looking up, as you hear more chanting, you see Zak, that old hedge wizard sitting in a circle of power, candles all around. Leveling your pistol at his head you suddenly hear a noise form the corner of the room! Turning you instinctively shoot the misshapen dark mass, screaming, the foul creature leaps at you only to be stabbed by your lightning reflexes; turning into a pool of ectoplasmic goo. “Chaos,” you whisper, with hate filled eyes you turn to Zak and see him slumped in the middle of the room passed out, in a fetal position.

Walking towards the scum, Matheus suddenly comes stumbling down the stairs, “My lord I’m so sorry!”…he trails off when he sees the scene before him. “Help me shackle this scum and take him to the tower, don’t touch anything!!” you say with a forceful tone. As you bend over the unconscious Zak to place the shackles on him, your danger sense goes off!! Spinning, you see the young priest floating above the ground arms stretched out like some sort of farmer’s scarecrow? “We will have this town Witch hunter, and their souls!” a deep unnatural hiss coming from Matheus

Bolting upright in your bed, covered in sweat you realize it’s just another one of those dreams, the same dam dream, reliving itself in your head!! "whats going on in this town?" you think .

Cannon:
A little after six bells, one of the Temple’s pages come into your study, saluting, he informs you that the Grand Master needs to urgently see you, “there’s been another murder sir, they are waiting to see you!” he informs you that you will find him with the Arch Lector in his Holinesses chambers.

I make haste to meet the Grand Master.

"whats going on in this town?" you think .
...

This is super cool. Also, you're definitely guilty and I should have shot you when I had the chance.  ::heretic::

Warlord the Rat-catcher:...wow your parents thought very highly of you "Warlord" the rat catcher hahaha

The Rat Catcher is a common sight throughout the Empire. They can be found in villages, towns, and cities, making a living by disposing of the vermin that infest all dwellings in this unsanitary age. Rat Catchers are often travelling folk, although larger towns and cities have permanent contingents of “vermin soldiers.” Rats are their chief enemy, but they can also dispose of moles, mice, and even fouler pests. City-dwelling Rat Catchers spend a great deal of time in the sewers, wading through rivers of filth in search of their prey. It’s a dirty job but it helps keep the plague away.

Artobans: the Agitator.... Parents must be so proud?!

For the most part, the people of the Empire have little say in politics. The Emperor and the Elector Counts make and enforce the laws, with the support of the various churches (Sigmar and Ulric most conspicuously). Nonetheless, ardent political activists are a common sight in the cities of the Empire. These Agitators organize on behalf of various causes, handing out leaflets, giving rousing speeches, and stirring up the populace. The lunatic fringe is simply ignored, but successful Agitators – those who can tap into the wellspring of Peasant and Burgher resentment – are usually viewed as a threat to the state. They are hounded by local watchman, accused of heresy by church officials, or forced to submit to the tender mercies of the Witch Hunters. Agitators continue on despite the risks. Some truly believe in their cause, but others are cynical power seekers as corrupt as those they rail against.

BAWTRM:  the Bone Picker…. Your parents disowned you dude

Bone Pickers are scavengers, scraping a living together off the refuse of others. They lead their carts through villages and towns, collecting old bones, rags, and other junk and disposing of it in return for a few pennies or a small item in trade. Sometimes known as rag and bone men or rag pickers, they are a common sight in the Empire’s cities, which generate large amounts of waste. Since many goods pass through their hands, Bone Pickers are also petty traders. What is trash to a wealthy Burgher is treasure to a poor Peasant.

Commandant:  the Charcoal-Burner ….. “Get out of my house” your father shouts !!

Charcoal-Burners can be found in every village in the Empire. They burn wood to create charcoal, an important fuel for the winter months. Since their work is both dirty and potentially dangerous, they work outside their villages. The outskirts of the forest are best, as wood is easily accessible. This proximity to the forest also makes charcoal-burning dangerous work, since isolated parties of such men are easy prey for the malign creatures of the wood. A Charcoal Burner’s camp always has weapons handy, even if they are nothing more than clubs cut from the nearby trees.

Valmir: the Barber-Surgeon….hmmm your parents are right proud of you sir, if they were still alive

Barber-Surgeons provide painful but effective healing to the common folk of the Empire. They are not as learned as Physicians, which is why Physicians maintain a separate guild, but they know quite a lot about anatomy. While they do cut hair and shave, they are more noted for their bleedings, surgeries, and amputations. Barber-Surgeons carry a variety of razor-sharp blades, from small scalpels to enormous bone saws. They have even more sinister looking tools for the most hated of their avocations: dentistry. Many large ships have a dedicated Barber-Surgeon as part of the crew; they are also common in towns and cities.

Cannon of Doom: Witch Hunter ... your parents are just scared  :icon_eek:

Witch Hunters are grim individuals who have dedicated their lives to eradicating the forces of Chaos, either in the service of the state or the Church of Sigmar. They prefer to seek out Chaos cultists, Mutants, and heretics that have insidiously hidden amidst the cities of the Empire. However, they will travel far indeed if they think they can strike a meaningful blow against the forces of evil. Witch Hunters tend to be a surly and suspicious lot with no qualms about killing innocents, so long as they also manage to slay the guilty, which means their appearance is often regarded with dread by other folk.

Skills: Academic Knowledge (Magic), Academic Knowledge (Necromancy), Academic Knowledge (Theology), Charm, Command, Common Knowledge (the Empire), Gossip, Intimidate, Perception, Ride, Search, Silent Move.

Talents: Lightning Parry, Lightning Reflexes, Marksman, Menacing, Public Speaking, Sixth Sense, Specialist Weapon Group (Crossbow), Specialist Weapon Group (Entangling), Specialist Weapon Group (Throwing), Stout-hearted, Strike Mighty Blow.

Trappings: Pistol with 10 shots, Best Craftsmenship Long Sword, 4 Throwing Knives/Stars, Heavy Armour (Full Plate Armour), 10 Yards of Rope, Horse

No career exit

Gold: 20

Special skills:

The Mark of the Witch : Witch hunters use many different methods for determining whether a suspect is guilty of being a witch. Each witch hunter tends to develop their own methods, but a two have become common practice and have gained infamy throughout the Empire – ducking and branding.

Fiery Zeal makes you fearless when confronting supernatural evil (not mortal creatures)

Arch Lector Mathi Alfblut you had your parents burned for being witches... you were 6

Every popular religious cult wields at least some degree of political influence. Priests who represent their temples on town councils can – given enough ambition – attain special titles in the court of the ruling noble, or become administrators of temple-owned lands. A prelate’s skill at delivering sermons and debating legal statutes with equal proficiency makes him highly respected in both civic and religious circles. However, the lure of temporal wealth and power has led many prelates down the path of corruption. Prelates may also be known as vicars, curates or arch lectors, depending upon the cult.

Skills: Academic Knowledge (Chaos Lore), Academic Knowledge (Theology), Blather, Charm, Common Knowledge (Empire, Telia ), Gossip, Heal, Intimidate, Perception, Performer (Storyteller), Ride, Swim, Secret Language (Guilder), Speak Arcane Language (Magick). Speak most human languages.

Talents: Master Orator, Etiquette, Linguistics, Seasoned Traveler, Schemer, Stout Hearted, Strong Mind.

Trappings: Prayer Book, Best Quality Vestments, Relic of Faith, really anything you want for the most part.

Exits: Politician or Priest

Gold: you’re rich dude

Special Talent: Divine Inspiration  :engel: through prayer you might get guidance from holy Sigmar

Gankom: Litigant (lawyer) your parents love you

Litigants are common sights both in Talabheim and all the major cities of the Old World. They write up legal documents, interpret the law, and represent individuals in court who are able to afford their fees. Litigants are almost universally reviled, except when someone is in legal trouble and needs assistance. Litigants need to be well versed in both the laws of the Empire and the region they plan to practice law, plus have a great deal of knowledge about day-to-day affairs. Even the lowest-born litigant is considered a “person of letters” to the general populace and may be asked to do things far beyond their training.

Skills: Academic Knowledge (Genealogy/Heraldry, History), Academic Knowledge (Law), Blather, Charm, Common Knowledge (the Empire), Gossip, Haggle, Perception, Read/Write, Secret Language (Guild Tongue), Speak Language (Reikspiel).

Talents: Dealmaker, Etiquette, Public Speaking, Savvy, Suave.

Weapons: Hand Weapon, pistol 10 shots

Trappings: Book of Empire Laws, Writing Kit.

Mathi Alfblut is wearing a long sleeved mail shirt over a leather jerkin. On top of that he wears a breastplate.

He is armed with a two handed warhammer,  but it has a hammer on one side and sharp spike in the other end. It is inscribed with Sigmarstuff.

He also carries a one handed military hammer. Sigmar protects but a back-up never hurts is something often heard. With it be carries a smal buckler.

Oh, we Stirlanders tend to overcompensate on occasion.

Mathis back-ups are very plain in comparison, well made and with simple sigmarite inscriptions but nothing fancy.

If one looks closely it do look as if the two handed hammer  and the breastplate are just as much a badge of office and status, worn on top of a more puritan outfit. And a grim personality

Artoban: https://youtu.be/-5E8P5c4j4Y

It’s been a hard couple of month’s sense you arrived in this sleepy town; It’s comforting knowing that you have never had a hard time finding work, being an educated man helps. Currently you have been working with the local Temple of Sigmar passing out pamphlets promoting, this and that, really doesn’t matter to you as long as they keep paying gold. However, curiously, the local litigate guild has been very busy with news that a local Hedge Wizard or was he an Alchemists? Anyway, rumor has it; he has turn rouge and seems to be affiliated with the ruinous powers and murdered some woman?  They’ve asked you to help promote, to the public, the need to keep calm and allow the local authorities to conduct the investigation but above all try to keep the populace from overreacting, as rumors are thick as plague flies right now.

Today been another long day, trying to keep the agitation of the populace down, “Time to turn in early, “ you think. Soon the lamp lighters will be out, already you can hear the night watch shouting for people to get indoors and the shops to close due the curfew instigated a few days ago. BAM!! …suddenly you’re jolted awake, “Its dark I guess I feel asleep” you think, as you hear something crashing outside your second story window. Peering down you see two figures standing on the small side street talking, it look like the bigger  individual is angry with the small slimmer person, both are wearing cloaks so it’s hard to make them out. You crack your window open and you hear a deep, almost hissing voice, talking to the smaller one. You can’t quite make out the words but the smaller person seems to be whimpering…” That slimmer person must be female !"you think

You turn around on your bed to lie back down when, FLASH! Your room is filled with a blinding light! You jump up to see what could have done that, peering out your window you don’t see anyone there anymore….. “Who were those guys, what was that blinding light?” you think. As you peer around you hear 7 bells chiming,  a few minutes later you see a night watchman walking down the street carrying a lamp, as the light creeps across the street, there face down, is  that smaller girl, her blond hair loose around her head, she is wearing a blue dress. “By Sigmar the Watchman shouts” and blows a whistle summoning other watchmen, soon more show up, one man covers her up with his cloak. After a little while four more men show up one man appears to be of higher rank, he is talking to another man who is directing the conversation towards the dead girl….. 8 bells chime.

He carefully walks aeround the crime scene, looking for anything that stands out to him. "Hmm, the eyes. What meaning does that have..."

You notice movement, looking up you see a man standing in one of the door ways, shadows so think you cant make out much more than that!

Arch lector Matti arrives at the scene in armour and lookings very annoyed about having been pulled out of bed in such an untimely manner.

"So, what is going on here? Is that thrice cursed blasphemer Zak still in his holding cell? I hope he has not escaped or I will have to take extreme actions."
