Nice idea! This is mine . Nothing special but its all custom built from various plastic left overs and bits of balsa wood, the odd mini, ect......

I wanted a more rustic feel to my Archlector (who really is only a lector) following the "Prophecies of Luthor Huss".

Here's my take on the War Altar. I went for more of a chariot feel. Still needs to be painted up. Made it myself out of plasticard.

@ Lord Quiran de Lancastre - great idea man. I think the sides of the chariot should have more ornate stuff, it seems a little bare - unless you got something marvelous planned for the paint job?

@ Shadowlord  - as said long ago - beautiful piece, and the Mordheim priest is perhaps my favourite priest of all!

@ Wyzer1  - great stuff, I think the wooden and leather areas should be toned down though, they seem to distract from the rest of the detail. Inking and darker tone should make the rest of the mini, like the griffin statue and the priest and the barding on the horse stand out infinitely more.

@ Empireguard  - I like your 'real' waltar, but I think I might convert your first idea. I love it! Now to beg for two ponies...

sj

p.s. I have no waltar at the moment hahahahaha

The base of the chariot is made out of the old 5th edition Volley gun. No many people Like the model, So they Should Be easy to get. Actually I have chopped it in half and combined it with a snotling pump wagon to make this.

The war altar for my Stirland army:

Nothing particularly spectacular about mine, not as great as all the scratch built ones I've seen here.

I got mine as a hand-me-down and was missing missing a few parts and the horses.

I used the really old original late 80's plastic horses and sculpted some barding on them.  I've never really liked the old Volkmar model, he's to clunky looking I think he'd be better off in the 40k range sporting a bolter but he'll have to make do for now.  I replaced is staff with a warhammer and gave him a shield for little better save, I also gave him his own base so I can remove from the war altar a bit more easily.

Excellent painting Orcyboy.

Soju, yes I have plans to paint up the sides rather ornately, I may still add some G.S. detail on it to give it more 3d texture.

Better add mines to the list then :biggriin:

Here it is, pretty similar to Jilutins with regard to the parts used.

Still planning to touch up certain aspects of the painting and add a couple of extra bits.

It's an inquisitor from the 40K range if I'm not mistaken. With a runefang and gun from the plastic General set.
