Update time.

I've been quite busy at work so had to put away my paints so as not to be tempted. However i have been ordering bits while late night surfing and having a bit of time today have made three more terrain pieces.
One is another crater, standard stuff, vacuum formed crater on hardboard base with a bit of filler to blend the joint.

I got a few bits from this company in Germany. Really nice casts, will be getting some more. Went together really well, had to do a little work to cover a gap where the roof was a bit small, but nothing special.  http://www.pardulon-models.com/
I got a tin shack style building, some cargo containers and boxes.

Here is the shack, put a few extra bits on it to make it a bit more of a scene.

The roof comes off as well

Here is another piece i did with some boxes to have a little extra cover for the table.

All small stuff again, i really must do a tall piece. Will get some paint on them soon.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

Getting there. I have some more craters to do. Your supposed to have one for when a vehicle blows up, and having a mech list this happens a lot.
I have a couple of these storage containers to do something with.

I want to get one of these for a taller building

After that its a hab building, the canning factory and a small shuttle landing pad

I've got a good table full now. You'll have to come down for a game sometime.

I need to do some woods really and some grox pens.

Grox pens with grox in them, that might escape during the game and start eating people! How big is a grox?

I definitely want to have a game sometime.

shadowlord: The scenery is really good. Not cheap but also not expensive for what it is. The package looks like a good deal.

Rufus: Book the rain and come down, kathryn is up north soon for a while as it's school holidays.

Corrigated shed looks cool, but sort of orky.

I do like the shipping containers though.

The shanty town stuff is very 'orky' but the tin shack stuff is ok for temporary human structures.

The small containers i got are OK, but small. The larger ones look perfect in the pictures but at £11 each they aren't cheap. I'll probably splash out for one soon. I'm also thinking of getting some of the windows and AC units for my Hab block,

Quick up date. Not been doing much really, have been away camping this weekend but back now and thought i'd get up what i managed during the week.
I did the crater and the boxes as they where very simple to paint and do. So here you are.

Crater number 2

Boxes:

I am about half way through painting the tin shack piece so will get it done this week. My wife is also away thursday till monday so hope to get the last marine of tactical squad 4 done and two more of the sternguard painted and show you some photos. Might even get time to assemble the new whirlwind scopius

Rufus: Let me know when you can free up some time and come on down.

work continues...

Crimsonsphinx: Thanks, I'm not massively happy with them but they are done.

I have finished of the engineers shack i showed you earlier. It is ok, i spent a bit more time on it. I feel it needs a wire of some sort from the generator to the shack. I would very much welcome suggestions.

Here goes

with the roof off

the picture aren't very good i'm afraid

I have found some mesh to use for grox pens and general chain link fences so i'm going to do a little strech as a tester. What i need now is a model for the grox. I had a look at some toy dinosaurs but didn't see anything.

I might do the containers in a fenced off area.

Work continues..

The hut looks good!

Make a shuttle landing pad!

For the grox: the old plastic cold ones (the fat ones) look quite groxy.

Well its been a while since i updated this blog but i have been busy painting my marines.

In anticipation of this weekend gaming with finlay and rufus i have made my biggest terrain piece to date. I have taken on board the need for LOS blocking terrain and taller pieces. For my birthday i got a lindt chocolate sphere which instantly said to me nuclear reactor.

I have finished making the pieces so hear are some pics of it prior to painting so you can see the bits it is made from.

I hope you like it.

I have also done some chain link fencing pieces which i forgot to take but look ok. I will get them up once io've finished the whole set, including the gate piece. I have cut out all the bases and prepared them. I have run out of the H shape styrine i have been using for the posts so will have to order some more.

work continues

Yes, that's them!

They're quite expensive and aren't troop choices, so I'm not massively keen on them.

Sweet looking terrain!  And its not even painted yet. :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::

Hey, is there a ladder somewhere so that the techies can get up on to the roof, or maybe it needs a hatch coming up out of the main building?

Well i have finally got round to doing some terrain after a break.
I still haven't finished the power plant. I am not happy with the roof of the main building. I have got some new PVC foam card, with is more rigid than foam card, doesn't de-laminate, and is thinner. I'm going to re do the roof structure with this.

I the mean time I have been working on a large factory piece. It doesn't have any skulls or is blown up. It's a functional factory unit. Canning the Grox meat produced on the Agri world. You may have seen the basic structure in a couple of the battle report pics Rufus posted the other day. It comes from Amera plastic product. Was very simple to assemble and quite cheap for its size. I have based it on hard board, filled the joints and jazzed up the shell. I've quite enjoyed it. The shutters on the lower windows was really simple and, i feel, adds a lot of texture to the basic model. I have ordered some more of the packing crates to give some more cover in the yard area. I also quite fancy buying a power lifter sentinel for FW.
Here it is in its unpainted glory. I would appreciate any feed back.

I'm hoping to try and paint it but i'm really busy ATM.

It looks great! Could use a bit of the 40K touch though. Perhaps you could bring that in via the paint job, some propaganda posters, grafitti...? It's just a bit ordinary at the moment. Wouldn't look out of place down the road around here.
