A shame, but that's what I figured... once again, your project has got me thinking about things I could be doing myself...

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the tower
Mo' was reciting incantations of power;
The corpses were waiting, at the end of the stair,
In hopes that Dellamorte soon would be there...

Merry Christmas!

Great work 023 on both the owl bear and the skellies

love them, give them off white teeth, so that when they attack in the dark or otherwise it would be more scary, also it would make the dark appear to be more dark by comparison, really love them must copy....  steveb

Cool idea to have a necromancer with a skeleton unit as an obvious unit commander. Particularly well suited for games like KoW that use abstract unit damage rather than single model removal, so there won't be any weirdness about the unit fighting on despite him falling.
The only good thing about 7th ed heads is that they look particularly inbred and superstitious which is perfect for Stirlanders

I really like that about KoW. I can use a lot of character type figures (like that grim reaper, and wight w/brazier) in units games without having to worry about the specifics of number & type of heroes.

One last mini for Deadcember...

Skeletal dragon from Reaper. Small -- that's a 50mm square base.

Great rundown on the year. I have to say you had a pretty good modelling year. All my votes for more JRTC work and fluff. I hear you when discussing the social aspect. Thanks to forums like this for some connection.
The tooth infection is the reality of chaos. All they have to do is get over the threshold and it’s fair game.
I hope to establish the social link again with some of the guys still playing this year.

Congrats on all that painting this past year, it is quite an accomplishment, and seeing all of it in the one post shows just how impressive it can be.

Hope your new year goes well, too! :::cheers:::

Undead Owlbear, What! I could never kill the living one's. Memories of d&d.
Do you have anything like a Zombie Horse or other animals?
I've got the kick-starter Renaissance zombie's from earlier in the year and want to fill the unit out. Have 25 figures but only in 5 postures.

Regarding that kickstarter with the various zombie creatures and undead, I picked up "The Thing From The Crypt" and the Necromancer.  I'd love to see 023's take on "The Thing From The Crypt".

Thanks!

I'm not sure what KS you guys are talking about. I've mostly been ignoring zombie stuff in favor of skeletal stuff. As far as animals, I know I've seen some around but can't really point you in the direction of any off the top of my head. Other than that owl-bear, which really looks a bit more zombie than skeleton.

A great year it has been. I've enjoyed following your progress through different themes. It's been very inspiring, and here is hoping for more.

Do you display all these gorgeous figures somewhere in your home, or do they live in the darkness of lockers and boxes?

It's over now, but believe the guy is selling the figures from his site ... https://www.bearsheadminis.com/

Thanks!

In addition to KoW, I figure Maurice & his crew would make a good warband for skirmish or RPG games as well.

I mentioned before that I had some plans for the first few months of 2018. Here's what January's looking like...

I've previously shared some pics of high elves I've painted as an ongoing, long term commission for a local gaming friend. I'll be starting off the year with some interesting additions to that army. As much as I'm a lover of rank & file mass battles, I do still love cool fantasy models. That's part of what sets fantasy gaming apart from historicals, after all. So this will be a fun diversion from all the undead that I've been working on.

I'm counting on these taking most of January to work on. There's a lot of fiddly little details that will be a difficult to paint. But I'm going to squeeze in a few of my own models as well. Especially since I have to wait at least a couple days for the weather to cooperate for priming. The current plan is some more odds & ends, such as...

Finally) finishing two mounted mages for the Marienburgers/mercenaries, and a second mounted undead-necro-whatever.

The plan for the latter is to sculpt a hunched figure of tattered robes riding that horse. I've got the lower half of a skeletal rider on there for a guide. Maybe I will leave the feet showing out the bottom. Maybe not. Not really sure how to go about it yet.

As for the former two, I need to decide on a color scheme. That's what's largely responsible for holding up the progress for the past few... years.

On that topic, I was looking for inspiration on the internets and stumbled across this: http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/battle-wizards-now-with-ovaries.html

What an awesome conversion, and great painting as well! Not relevant to what I was looking for, but I had to share. Click the link to check out the whole process and more photos.

Does this happen to belong to someone here? (If so, I must have missed it in the forum.)
