Rulebook mentions "Loremaster"
« on: September 29, 2011, 04:44:51 PM »
I guess Balthasr Gelt is our one and only loremaster, knowing all spells from Metal. I think Loremaster should be another "upgrade" to a level 4 wizard to represent each college's lead wizard. How much should/would that upgrade cost, knowing all spells from one particular lore? I'm thinking +35 pts for Loremaster...along the VC line of the forbidden lore" vampire power.

Hey,

I think Loremaster should be more expensive than that. I personally don't think it should be an upgrade, but if there is one, it should cost more than upgrading a wizard level. Not necessarily because it grants access to all spells, but because it guarantees that you always have the spells you'd want. I'd pay more than 35 points to always have throne of vine's and dwellers on my LVL4 life, for example.

...which, incidentally, are the very spells VC can't get through "forbidden lore".

As if somebody had some foresight when writing the VC book... nah, unlikely.

Really? Don't know the VC rules.

Well, if that's the case 35 might still be a little underpriced as we have access to more lores (see the latest thread that had commandant fired up), though it's not as unreasonable as I thought.

My statement was confusing: They can get all lores, except lore of life.

Herald of Tzeentch can get it for 25 pts and choose which rulebook lore to use.

All the more reason for Loremaster being an upgrade to a level 4 wizard. I was unaware herald of tzeentch had that. The 1 regular WoC player I battle is aligned to tzeentch and always uses lore of tzeentch........

Perhaps if the War Altar also makes the rumoured Wizard Lord Mobile it will give them access to Loremaster.
