Well the winter of 2017 to 2018 is upon us!

We had snow already last weekend, and I hear tell we're getting more today. It's just after 5am and the white stuff is already coming down. Not sure how fast or how much it'll accumulate, but it has begun!

It's 11.23 am here and (unlike the rest of the UK) we in the West Riding of Yorkshire (old measures) have had but a light, frosty peppering of snow.

Interesting we both have at least a bit.

I feel fortunate at this stage of the season, and I've heard we'll get more in a week with cold temperatures the whole way and into the next.

It could be a white Christmas, and glad I live in New England.

Snow has hit. Not hard but everyone forgets how to drive. 2 hrs 20 mins to get to work today. Usually takes 20 mins. Had the support of Krishna Das to make it thru though😺

I got pancakes and coffee, tucked inside where it's warm and safe from other drivers, and icy roads.

I feel bummed for the folks that have to go to work on mornings like this. It can't be easy.

Although I'll be working at home this morning, and go in a bit later, after the snow fall finishes.

In my neck of the woods, the festive season happens to fall in summer. Despite the fact its usually hot enough to cook the Christmas lunch on the roof, people usually decorate their yards and houses with snow men and other 'wintery' icons.

Snow is done falling. 6 inches probably. Plow trucks are out, and snowblowers

I'm inside for a bit more, wrapping presents next, and the winds are starting to blow here too!

We have about 3" of snow on the ground & in the trees for Christmas. Roads seem clear, and the sun is out. A fine day to visit family and neighbors.

Looks like the Lake Erie Snow Machine is starting up. We live safely outside the lake-effect snow zone, but they're planning for potentially beng buried in feet of snow to the east!

I heard ‘hypothermaggedon’ on the radio this morning. Maybe referring to the -40* with windchill and the label of the coldest capital on earth at the moment. It’s just plain f’ing cold to me with one vehicle frozen solid and not even sputtering life.

I just had a magical experience. I cannot sleep due to the strep throat so I was up around 4am talking with my wife. I pulled open the shades and sure enough there was snow on the ground! And not a moment after I said it snowed, a juvenile fox trotted in front into my view about 10 yards away and took a leak on the street light. Was great timing and all. I have heard people say there are many foxes in the area but I rarely see them, so seeing one now after some snow fall when its still quiet outside was a treat.
