I 'm just now starting Warhammer (but into WH40K since 2nd ed.) with an Altdorf army.

This my first and only unit at the moment, a Great Cannon.

Hi Spyros, Welcome to the Greatest City in the Old World.

Nice job on the cannon,

I've been painting my Altdorf army for 2 or 3 years now. Even though i should probably start another army at some point, I just can't stop adding to it. I.m working on 3 units of 6 outriders, a second steam tank and possibly going to do another Spearman unit with Detachments. You can never have too much Infantry :biggriin:.

At least when the Flaggelants come out finally I'll be able to work on my religious crusade army. I've got them on advance order in anticipation.

Here's a link to my Altdorfian guard website. I still have a pile of newer stuff to get photographed and I'll maybe try and get my older stuff redone to be clearer. The wife has broken my camera so I'll need to cart all of my figures up to my Brother in Laws to get them done. Anyway here's the link.

I've tried to promise myself that when i hit 10,000 points painted I'll stop and start another army but knowing me I'll keep on going

If you scroll down to the bottom right of this link then you'll also find some Altdorfian information. Mostly Roleplay stuff though.

I'm close to completeing 2000 points of my Altdorf army. My army consits of state troops, artillery and the famed Reiksguard and Kurt Helborg. Looking at the history of Altdorf, I don't see me adding and Free Company or Flagellants. To me, they really don't fit the theme. As I build towards 3000 points, I'm looking to add the Emperor and more state troops.

Alright! Altdorf currently tops the poll!

I ended up being Altdorf based by accident.  I originnaly painted my first unit in the colours of Solland (red and purple), but the highlight I put on looked mostly blue.  I liked the look so much I continued it and only later found out they were the colours of Altdorf!

I'm now a dyed-in-the-wool Altdorf player, and couldn't imagine anything else.  My army is currently about 2000 points (about 60% state troops, the rest Order of the Golden Lion Knights).  I view my army as being the 'goodwill ambassadors of Altdorf', being sent out to any trouble spots in the Empire as representitives of both the Emperor and Altdorf.

I like that new engineer invention in the above picture! New Mecha-horse?

Also, I haven't seen that Captasus conversion before, very nice!

plurals in "Reikspiel":

Averländer
Altdörfer
Middenheimer
Carroburger
Talabecker / Talabacländer
Talabheimer
Kisleviten
Nulner
Ostländer
Ostmärker
Mootländer
Wissenländer
Nordländer
Reikländer
Hochländer

for the adjectiv, just cut the "er" and use "-ish" (for UK Reikspiel) or "-isch" (for real Reikspiel ;) )

Here is another Altdorf General, taking the 2nd intervention army out to the northern regions of the Empire to give aid where needed!!

Here is my fluff about the reason why my army is my army.
I'm not a story teller, but I do like to have a fluff basis on what I use.

The 2nd intervention army from Altdorf is one of the special armygroups broughed together at the idea of Karl Franz himself. This army, opposed to the 1st intervention army, is mainly deployed in thenorthern regions of the Empire to combat any stress situationsencountered by those provinces where the standing army is in need ofsome bolstering to counter the various threats from the northlands.
Dueto the nature of this army being deployed mostly against the Beastmen,Deamons and Warriors of Chaos it has gotten some special interest fromthe Grand Master Templar of the White Wolf. This is why there isusually a contigent of his knights present in this Altdorf armytogether with some warrior priests of Ulric.
The presence of theKnights of the Blazing Sun is also rather simple as they have devotedtheir time to combat anything that has nothing to do with the naturalbeings of this world.
The army is composed of several infantry unitsall paid and equipped by the Altdorf / Empire treasuary and are bythose means very good equipped. Also a few units of the mobileartillery from Altdorf is accompaning the army (ofcourse bought fromthe foundries of Nuln and the crew trained there as well). This armywhen moving around also attracted some Flaggelants and usually will getsome aid from the local militia.
This way Karl Franz hopes to keephis northern borders of the Empire protected enough to let the peopleof the Empire live in relative peace.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

Another Altdorfer in!

I was thinking...Greatswords in an Altdorf army should wear the colours of Reikland right? They are supposed to be the Elector Count bodyguard and Karl Franz already has the Reiksguard bodyguarding him as Emperor. As he is the EC of Reikland I suppose Greatswords should wear white clothes / uniforms and not red/blue.

What do you think?
