I was browsing this great thread, and my eyes fell on the battle pictures on the page before. It seems you play with big blocks, and from what is visible in the photos, your opponents prefer the same. At least the Orcs & Goblins player.

I've understood you play T9A, and I've understood the meta of that game has been lately leaning towards MSU tactics (many small units). Could you talk a bit about your tactics, and if you go with the feeling and looks first, or if you've tried different gamistic combos and actually prefer the big blocks games wise?

Of course I will maintain it  :biggriin: Its a 3D printed base by a friend. A lot less expensive that GW or other manufacturer! And made to measure (this word is correct?)

Hey Zygmund, thank for your message, i'm glad your interest about my army and my playstyle. Your right, I play in 9th age in V2.0. This is a great game and a good version, really balanced. Empire army book is one of the most balanced i've never played (and I play since the 6th WHB edition).

Your right too about big infantry block, this is what I prefer to play, for fluff and playstyle raison. In my gaming club, the meta seems to be indeed big infantry block, instead of MSU. My tactics is based on heavy synergy : orders, hatred, prayers, buff wagon, detachment, death warrant, alchemy master and flaming banner on infantry blocks (for rerol to wound). I maximize the synergy combinaison, making a "simple" troops like block of spears a real theat for ennemy. I always play a minimum of 2 warrior priest, each in a block of 50 spears and 40 imperial guard, with 2x20 swordmen covering the flanks. Artillery force ennemy co to come to me, let me make combo charge and crush the ennemy.

The 40 imperial guard with great weapon impress me a lot, crushing everything go in her way. I like to give them the +2 armor save from alchemy, giving them a 2+ armor save!

But I always play different list, as I have a lot of unit in my army. SInce I finished my cavalery, I played in this moment a full cavalry themed list :

15 knight, Banner musician champion, legion standard : 667 points
11 Knightly Orders, Banner musician champion, banner of speed : 668 points
4 demi griffons, banner, cavalry lance and shield ; banner of discipline : 490 points
4 demi griffons, banner, cavalry lance and shield: 455 points
5 reiters, pistols : 180 points
5 reiters, pistols: 180 points
10 reiters, repetear guns: 360 points
1 warrior priest, plate armour, horse : 230 points
1 warrior priest, plate armour, horse, black steel : 275 points
1 knight commander, shield, soonstalh, lucky charm : 375 points
1 marshal, horse, chield, BSB, karadon courser, banner of speed : 355 points
1 mage adepte, horse, divination, magical heirloom, light armor: 265 points

I did 3 games. First, 4-16 against VC : it was really close. I leave his vampire to 1 HP !

20-0 against Ogre Khan (combo charge turn 2 on his death star, crushing them in one turn, and turn 3 it was over) :

And 5-15 against VC, again a very close game, and AGAIN living his vampire general to 1 HP!

A great potential list, difficult to play, but really fun.

Hope I answered to your question. :)

Thanks for the insight! I need to re-try my big blocks approach in T9A, some day, some year. Got some miserable results in spring 2016, and have since floated towards the MSU. But in principle, big blocks synenergy for Empire should be great.  :-)
