Please help: Too much awesomeness on Brush and Palette
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:39:24 PM »
Imperial dwarves, crazy goblin landsknechts, halfling armies, really creative and well-painted minis, lovely old models, Chumley Warner, terrain projects, conversions... It never ends! And I love it and want to comment on everything! But: A) I don't have the time, and B) I don't just want to say "Great work" or something similar, to everything.

So, I started to wonder how you guys choose what to comment on? Do you follow particular threads? Or comment on whatever is most awesome (how do you decide?) Do you comment to answer explicit questions? Comment on the threads were your advice might be needed the most? Do you just say "Great work" or something similar, to everything? Are there unwritten rules about this?

I have 10,000 posts not counting the Back Table.  How do you think I decide what to comment on?

I'm very unfocused (which is probably one of the many reasons i'm not fabulously wealthy) so I just pop into whatever thread strikes my fancy at the moment. Sometimes I leave a lengthy commentary, while sometimes I leave a short comment, and sometimes nothing at all. And I may never go back into it again.

I'm pretty much like [SYN]Ace. Pretty much when something really strikes me as needing a comment from me. Some times I can go multiple days without feeling a need to post something, then other days I can't stop responding. I guess you could describe my posting as bi-polar. Some times long winded, some times short and pithy.

While I post fairly erratically, I read every post on The Brush and Palette, The Elector's Forum and the Trading Post pretty much daily. The other forums, I check almost every day, but only read those that peak my interest. There's a lot of nonsense stuff in The Count's Tavern child-forums that I just can't be bothered with. There are a few threads in those two that I follow.

Hah, nice try. We all know you're a new guy here, phil.

I personally comment on a thread that strikes me at that time, but most of the time I don't comment. I often don't have enough constructive to add, being the bad painter that I am :biggriin:

It's complete randomity. For instance, ever since I put up a picture of one of my models painted with a different approach, a whopping 0 people commented on them. Even a "YOU SUCK!" post would be welcome. Therefor, I think that it's random (and that you people are just being spoiled by people like Chumley)

P.S. I think I just performed thread euthanasia, as I am wont to do.

Hi,
I comment when I feel I want to say something. I can be just wow, a question or a comment about a detail.
I consider my self a quite sporadic commenter. Time is a critical factor, I have 4 kids from 3 to 10.

A thing I'm nut sure about but I have a feeling about, Is that the more active people are on this forum the more comments they receive on their own posts. In that case it's all good, because it's logic and it's fair. People reply to members they recognize and somehow 'know'.

I see I still cause you to stay up at night.

Just to prove your point...

I post in the threads with models that appeal to me mostly.

I have a tendency to post in Hochland blogs, solidarity and all that.

Also, I will often comment on someone new's blog, especially if I like what I see. A bit of encouragement is always nice.

As threads get longer though, I just leave it to other people...
