I dislike family gatherings as well. I dread Thanksgiving. Each year my parents usually end up hosting the oddballs of the family. Most of the cool family members are dead or far away. At least there's a silver lining - my most hated relative is persona non grata.

We stopped going to family events when I was 16. Mum's relatives live in other states, and Dad's are a pack of arseholes.

I haven't seen anyone on my dads side since my granddad died which is a good thing cause we would all kill eachother if he wasn't there to knock heads!

Seriously, though, I know the feeling. I went through that phase after my wife left. On the advice of my therapist, I made it a point to go out and do something every week. Usually it was just go have dinner in a bar once a week, but it did me a lot of good.

i am still in the "rebuilding phase" after me and my girlfriend split. Come February I should be out of this phase and back on my feet as it were. All my old friends are miles away and I have no car to get around to the local pubs.

My girlfriend's grandfather died today. And her cousin died in a car crash a week and a half ago. And her other grandfather died only 3-4 months ago. Prayers/thoughts/vibes would be appreciated.

Ain't it the truth. And the holidays are already a difficult time for both of us, emotionally speaking. We'll get through, though; just gonna be rougher than we thought.

So, went to the doctors for two things today, one being my shoulder (previous dislocation involving torn muscles and ligaments). Expected a day or two off work and some painkillers. Signed off for a month with possibly more time depending on shoulder.

I'm also not allowed to be left alone for the other for at least 2 weeks.
