My work's facilities manager has realized that ignoring his calls/texts/emails is going to get him fired. His new schtick is whenever someone reports a problem he starts grilling them with a bunch of rapid fire technical questions about the issue and sighing/sounding annoyed when they don't know the answers. It's pretty obvious he's trying to project the appearance of being knowledgeable and intimidate people who report problems.

God. Fire the MF already.

I purchased a new computer that has Windows 8. It crashes at least once a day. There's nothing on this computer that should be doing this, and as far as I can tell, this is a common trait of Windows 8. Thinking of purchasing Windows 7...

Windows 8 makes me cry. My uncle had the beta and we put it on a computer we build. Terrible.
It's made for touchscreens but I think it's bad even for that.

I had a similar experience with Vista. Everyone said "OMG, Vista crashes every time you boot up." After a few updates, it ran perfectly for the life of the computer.

Other than UAC, most of Vista's problems laid below the surface. It can 'run fine' for most people but in the end it pretty much functioned as beta for W7. W8's problems on the other hand are almost entirely on the surface.

When you get it working let me know. We may be struggling to get up there but that shouldn't stop us having some more entertaining total war duke outs!

Blue screen of death once a day is only a surface problem? What can I do to fix this stupid thing?

Did you ever write down the error code on the bluescreen to see what was actually wrong? BSODs have been for hardware problems since before Vista. Has it ever worked properly? Have you tried reinstalling the OS?

I wrote down the error code and have now contacted customer service, but my google fu hasn't really answered anything as of yet. It's pretty much acted up from the beginning. I haven't re-installed because I don't have a disk for the OS.

You can just download the right version of Windows, burn it to a disc and install using the product key. What error code are you getting?

Customer service said I should refresh the OS, so I guess I'll do that tonight.

It looks like 0x0000000000, digits varying depending on the code.

If you manage to get that you'll see exactly what's up.

Edit: Never mind, i forgot that W8 has different BSODs.

That screen doesn't pop up. It's a very non descript page. I refreshed the OS, so hopefully that will be the end of it.

Guh...just when I'm starting to feel good about not having to deal with my ex anymore, I sit down to do my taxes...and realize that filing them is going to involve much talking to, negotiating, and wrangling with her over them.
