Proposed house rule for the Eurobash
« on: January 14, 2012, 06:12:52 PM »
Flanking units which remove rank bonus also disrupt steadfast.

Switches the focus slightly back towards flanking and movement, not just "lets smash giant units into each other and use mortars and dwellers below"
I don't care about the rules.

We can play a game like that if you want to, but I guess making this a general bash houserule is not really in the spirit of the event!

True.

Can I make it a rule for every game I play then?

 :engel:

I really really like 8th edition, but I think this simple change adds a lot more to think about.

Incidentally, this is one of the very few things I would have changed as well if I had had the final say before release. That and half points for units under half strength.

Probably I will be playing undead and so won't be steadfast anyway!

2 mortar max and no life magic will probably be a harder sell.

Rufus, are you fed up of orcs?

I think this would make a very good rule and would instigate it in any games I play hopefully

I tried to make one, but the kitten I was making it from stopped screaming...

My personal rule : No TLoS, instead use LLoS. Logical Line of Sight (at about the 7th ed rules, but things like Ogres can see over Dwarves for example.)

well, my group's house rule is true line of sight for everything except for woods. For woods we still use the "old" rule, e.g. You can see through up to 3" of forest

Wasn't it 2" of woods you could see through?

Any thoughts on points values?

2500 warhammer, 1750 40K?

Or are those too high?

I'm thinking 2500 for warhammer for sure.

1750 or 1500 for 40k.
I don't care about the rules.

Maybe 1500 would be more practical for 40K. Though I can add 145 to any list easily by bringing a vindicare assassin. And probably another hundred by taking all the expensive upgrades like psybolts. 250 points is probably a lot more DE though!

2500 is the maximum I want to play warhammer at. Bigger games take more time and are less fun.

mm, I think my expansion to 1750 was basically +1 "razorwing fighter".

I think 3000 points is nice for warhammer though 2500 could be fun as well.

I am in the 2500 points camp enough to field nasty stuff and not too much to keep it quick and dirty.

I actually don't think I've played 3000 points in 8th: I've done 4000 and 5000, both of which are too big.

But 2500 is about the maximum I can realistically transport.

mm, I think my expansion to 1750 was basically +1 "razorwing fighter".

Isn't that about 150 points? Or does that not include extra missiles or whatever?

My current favourite is 2999.
