Hi folks!
I'm working in my own version of
Von Zeppel's Steam Tank. As you know, this model was retired years ago by GW and the original version used the old metal Steam Tank. Some weeks ago I suggested here updated rules for use it in Age of Sigmar (
check here).
Last week I got a new plastic Steam tank and I have built it excepting the top and turret. I'm building the platform and railings using 1-3mm PVC and balsa wood sheets of 2mm thick. The first issue which I have found when I begun to build it was the measures!! I don't know any owner of the original model, so I had to check and re-check with the steam tank and miniatures to work out the best size. If is there any interested, I have prepared a basic blueprints with the measures which I have used (
download from here). Sumarizing, the platform will have
67mmx45mm. The railings will be of
20mm of height.
I will post the progress of the conversion!! I hope you like it
The beginning (first try to adjust the size):
Preparing the platform base with balsa wood. Notice the wood marks (you can use a rounded thin tool):
And then, you can cut it in 2mm bars:
Support of the platform to adjust it to Steam Tank (made with 2mm PVC forex):
The platform ready and perfectly adjusted to the Steam Tank.
First long railing built. It is not completed, I need to add spear blades on the top. You can see the size with miniatures (like original model).
And this is all for today!! tonight I will work again in this
Cheers
