I was talking with my gaming buddies, many of whom who have given up on GW, especially since the Age of Sigmar disaster, and the main complaint many of them had was BALANCE. When talking to one friend who had never played a GW game, and is really into Warmahordes, he said he would never get in 40K or Fantasy if there was such a thing as an "OP" army like Tau or Eldar. He then went on to tell me that Warmachine was a very balanced game and said that "everything was OP, so nothing was OP". I couldn't put up an argument, since I only played Warmachine for a short time with my Menoth army many moons ago.
Anyway, I'll submit that Warmachine is a better balanced game than Warhammer (40K or Fantasy), and welcome your comments on that subject, but what I really wanted to get is your opinion on the below list. Rating the armies from 1 - 5 (5 being the best), here is what I came up, from my own experience and talking to my fellow players:
5 – Eldar, Tau, Necrons
4 – Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Blood Angles, Space Wolves, Dark Angles, Adeptus Mechanicus, Grey Knights, Imperial Knights
3 – Adeptas Sororitas, Militarum Tempestus, Inquisition, Chaos Daemons, Harlequins, Khorne Daemonkin, Officio Assassinorum
2 – Chaos Space Marines
1 – Orks, Tyranids, Dark Eldar
Now, granted, ranking armies like Imperial Knights and Officio Assassinorum can be a bit silly, as they are really only ever used as allied detachments, but I just wanted to give it a go. What say you?
