I caught the trailer for I TONYA during the session of E8. This is odd. You see, waaaay back in early '94, I taped a Saturday evening broadcast of Return of the Jedi. Nancy and Tonya's fight was one of the snippets on the evening news update. So, whenever I watched that video, I was reminded of Tonya. Now Tonya is appearing in snippets prior to star wars.
Everything has come full circle.

Alita was the first manga I read, and my gateway into comics, manga and GN.

I think that trailer looks like an absolute abomination.
why in good god they decided to do that to her face, and literally nothing else in the movie, is just baffling, it's incredibly distracting, looks absolutely terrible, and will no doubt age awfully.

fucks sake.

Yeah, it looks really bad. It's like they're trying to sabotage their own film.

The entire point is that she looks human. Instead they plopped her straight in the bottom of uncanny valley with expensive, glossy, pointless CGI.

the reasoning was because she's an anime character... which obviously explains why none of the other characters, WHO ARE ALL ALSO FUCKING ANIME CHARACTERS, had that bullshit terrible cgi too.

I'm beginning to think that Finlay must have spent some time in the military. :icon_wink:

Hopefully they don't mess it up.

Almost went last night to see Darkest Hour, but it was snowing and the roads were terrible.  I'd have spent more time driving "safely" than watching the film.

I saw "The Shape of Water" on Saturday.  It was good, a bit fantastical in nature, but good.  I recommend it, particularly if you'd like to see something a bit different, although I don't recommend bringing youngsters.

Trailer looks good. It will be much more action-oriented, but I'm cool with that.

Saw Lala land. Not sure what all the hype was about.
Classic singing drama with non-happy ending. I get why it was Oscar bait, but its not something you can watch again.

Went to see Coco with the kids yesterday. Charming little movie.

You know, its not very common to hear what heroes wanted to be when they grew up. Especially in the MCU.  We never knew what 8 year old Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, etc wanted to be when they grew up.  It was fun and yet humanizing to hear what Thor wanted to be when he grew up in the Ragnarok movie.

Finally got around to watching Guardians of the Galaxy 2.  I quite liked it.  It really expanded on all the characters and their relationships.  it was also just fun to boot.
