As always, I am behind the curve with music. Been listening to a lot of Oh Sees the past couple weeks. Especially: https://ohsees.bandcamp.com/album/mutilator-defeated-at-last

Songs that sometimes sound like guys excitedly writing about their D&D campaign, and titles like Orc, Carrion Crawler, and Gelatinous Cube... I feel some common ground. (Well, that and I love the music.)

I hear a lot of good things about these guys, and they are on tour here soon so I might pop and take a look.

This week there are new song releases from Soeur, The Empty Page, and (later this week) No Violet to enjoy, and the most recent album I'm listening to is "In Search of the Miraculous" by Desperate Journalist (who I'm seeing live twice this month)

The Claypool Lennon Delirium, pretty interesting fusion between the Beatles and Primus

Just came from a concert featuring Bizet, Dvorak, and Ravel. Wasn't familiar with Bizet coming in, but he's got some spunk.

Started thinking about Enya’s Orinoco Flow on Spotify. Started listening to some covers and found this awesome one by Celtic Woman

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H4TlDxXxVk

That lead to this treasure. Gaudete by Libera. Never heard of either of these. The power of music is really mystifying.

Amazing cover of Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag" by The Animal In Me. Wheatus sounds whiny, this version just rocks!

Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth

It brings back many good memories.

Indeed! Can't wait for their new album and see / listen how they are going to match this last cd of theirs.

Townsend's Empath. A hugely intensive metal-ambient crossover symphony. It certainly hits a cord in me, makes me joyful.  :-)

Also been listening to lots of Steven Wilson's albums, Porcupine Tree & the other projects. A mixed bag, but some absolutely stunning pieces there.

What am I listening to? Apparently inherently racist and abusive music.

It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

Wow, what an idiot. You just have to ignore that stuff. I was falling for all the click bait for awhile, and the final straw was some white chic writing an article saying all the original Avengers should die in Endgame because they are not diverse enough. Before I blew my stack I guess she had no idea what an Avenger was until the first movie came out. People like that are either trying to pull in people who want to feel like victims or just piss people off who want to enjoy their heroes. F them. So when I read an article like that, I laugh and are glad that idiot feels that way. And he may not, who knows what people really feel on the internet these days. Its all about the clicks for the ads.

Meanwhile, I have been drifting in and out of Metallica, Slayer, and Radiohead. Yes, you read those three right. Weird I know.

I read most of that article and came to the same conclusion. Idiot.
I have no problem with making your own stake in music. I applaud it. But to reduce classical to white supremacy is crazy. Is it mostly a white dominated genre? Yes. Who cares. I would say I have a pretty wide scope of music appreciation and I have no problem with culturally music from anywhere. Right now I’m on a Mongolian kick. Should I complain about the unusual amount of Mongolian musicians involved?
