You dont really need to explore, other than doing sidequests.

the vending machines are area specific leveled. so if you're in a level 5-10 area, you will find level 5-10 stuff to buy, and will need to go to a higher level area to find higher level shops.

Yeh, it's probably a good idea to have weapons of each type. But I am a massive weapon horder.

BTW, in america and england borderlands 2 is on half price sale now....

So yesterday in Borderlands I took a route back to town that led me into an area with some rather vicious Skags (exclamation marks near their names and all) whom proceeded to tear me apart. I was restored at the 'New-U' and lost a bit of money. My question is: Is it possible to have too little money to be resurrected or is it simply a percentage of your overall wealth that gets taken?

Otherwise I'd need a buffer of money on me at all times.

You will never not be able to respawn.  It takes a set percentage of your money regardless of how much you have.

The game is absolutely amazing.  Better than the second one too.  The second one has a more defined story, but doesn't feel nearly as open or reqrding for exploration.

I'm on a PS3 (my boasting about trophies instead of achievements in previous threads was a clue) :icon_wink:

Which means I've got lots of people from this board on my friends list like PhillyT and..................oh wait, that's it. More of an XBOX crowd here I guess. :icon_biggrin:

Would be nice but my connection at home is abysmal! Beginning of next year the whole town is getting a fibre optic network though so I'll definately keep it in mind for when the Back Table opens again. :::cheers:::

i have xcom on steam, pretty sure my username is thundercake on that. Haven't played it in forever though, got about a third of the way through it and then crusader kings 2, starcraft, shogun 2, and medieval total war drew me away. Not sure why I wasn't addicted to it.

If you like Paradox's style of games like EU3 for example it is quite fun. It does have it's flaws, especially since many large Kingdoms and Empires up their level control enough to build doomstacks that prevent them from falling apart through internal rebellion or from outside invasion. Honestly I find it the most fun to build up a smaller Kingdom or independent Duchy and work from there though mixing it up as some smaller vassal, I played as a Byzantine Dux and formed an independent Kingdom of Bulgaria, and working your was to power is also entertaining.

The trouble with the Total War games is that they are basically the same but prettier. The AI is still stupid. The campaign is still easy and boring because of it (unless you count the computer throwing relentless stacks at you where it cheats economically) and diplomacy is still pointless unless you make everyone vassals.
Curse you and your ability to stay within the lines.
