anyone got a 3ds? I was never really tempted, but the 3dsxl is bigger, better and cheaper (despite not having 2 circle pads which it needs).

It's my birthday soon, and the new pokemon game will be only 3ds, not ds...

luigi's mansion 2, link to the past 2, pokemon, fire emblem awakening.

Don't know about the 3DS. Zelda and pokemon are probably the same as ever.

Can recommend a Vita though, if you want handheld.

...OoT is the best zelda ever.

I liked Ocarina of Time but personally I liked Zelda 3 on the SNES better.

Yup, that's the one. Classic game play with nice puzzles and incredible music.

When I bought a NES it was with the original gold cartridge Zelda game, one of the best buys ever on that system.

The one on the SNES just took all of that to perfection and beyond.

There was no 2nd Zelda game..... :icon_evil:

Yeah, the SNES Zelda game was amazing.  The first Zelda was awesome though for its time.  It had a gold cartridge!

That gold cartridge was one of the reasons for me buying it instead of the NES that came with the Mario Bros game (and was actually cheaper).

Even in those pre-internet days, and still in junior high, I had done some research before buying and found a really favourable review on the Zelda game. The gold cartridge was just gravy.

Didn't help the second game THAT NEVER EXISTED much though.

I have the gold cartridge Zelda and the SMB/Duck Hunt Nintendo.

I don't think the gold cartridge was exclusive to a NES package.

It wasn't (unfortunately). I specifically bought the NES separately from the Zelda game (though obviously at the same time, no use in having a game console with zero games).

Mario and Duck Hunt still came later, they were both good fun!

I found it.  Was called Deathrow,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oa_2lqKLto
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSG6dOW5GXg

basically you could win a match by one of two ways:

1) Score the most points

2)kill the entire opposing team.

you could unlock players for your team and every time you beat a team in story mode you could unlock that team for story and multiplayer.  There was even a ninja team.  They seriously need to revamp this game.  A nice gem from the old xbox and extremely underrated.

Ah, I read your comment as saying you bought a NES+Zelda to get the gold cartridge.

I don't know if I ever actually beat Zelda.  Probably did.

Honestly, River City Ransom may be the greatest single game of my life.  That or Doom.  Probably Doom.  It blew my mind!

I concur.  The original Zelda was very very hard and I gave up on it pretty quickly, never beat it.  A Link to the Past came when I was older and had a good save system, so it was the first Zelda game that I completed.

I had some buddies who played it.  They seemed to like it and played it for a few months pretty regularly.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Announced, Coming in August

Quote
Set in 1962 at the height of the Cold War, The Bureau tells the origin story of the clandestine XCOM organization's first encounter with a mysterious and devastating enemy. Originally established as America's covert defense against the Soviet Union, The Bureau must adapt and overcome a threat unlike anything the world has faced before. As special agent William Carter, players will call the shots and pull the trigger, leading their squad of agents in the high-stakes secret war for humanity's survival. Paramount to repelling the outside threat is The Bureau's ability to cover-up the enemy's existence in order to prevent worldwide panic.

In the spirit of the XCOM franchise, The Bureau's calculated combat design requires players to think and act tactically. The game's third-person perspective gives the player a sense of spatial awareness and grants them the freedom to transition in and out Carter's unique Battle Focus ability seamlessly – heightening the tactical shooter action. The Bureau also fully embraces the concept of permanent consequence. As our last line of defense, every command can mean the difference between life and death for Carter, his squad and mankind."

Don't have to guess. It's 100% definitely stand alone. I wish they would bring out more DLC for enemy unknown tho.

I've thought about it.  But whenever I try to read about it to get an idea of what it is before I try it, it's all Greek.  I don't even understand what the point is.
