Fable 3 currently free to DL for Xbox live gold customers. For some reason.

eh, who knows maybe PS4 will offer some backwards game that you have to download online like nintendo wii.  or they may re-release them like ocarina of time?  Im being optimistic but the only games I would probably play backwards is killzone 2 and 3.  I havnt really played anything else on PS3.

I haven't had the silly 'punch through head and lift them' animation in AC:Revelations in a long while now. It's also because they made a better mix of weapon types and their stats. In previous games there really was no reason to go for anything but swords but in this game I've been swinging an axe and a two-handed sword as well because they had better stats. Maybe not realistic (especially in terms of the speed stat) but far more fun!

In the last generation there was really no discernable difference between the consoles, unless you were desperate for a bluray player, or vastly preferred the exclusives. Combined with the fact they were released at different times would vastly offset the direct competition and comparison between the consoles.
You can release a worse console earlier, and get your market share that way. Msoft seem insistent on releasing a worse, more expensive console at the same time.

The killer blow “"PS4 will not impose any new restrictions on your use of PS4 game discs," said Jack Tretton, boss of Sony Computer Entertainment America.”

What else is there that separate consoles from one another? I can think of the online service, legacy game support and the controller on top of what you mentioned. Pretty much the same thing as with every other generation.

I'd say the only thing that has changed in this regard is the homogenisation of the hardware. Other than that, consoles are as different as they've ever been.

Patsy, I thought in previous generations there were a lot more exclusives. Then in “modern gaming” it’s turned to basically a few franchises only.

DRM for used games for x1 makes a HUGE difference, compared to the past.

The cost of producing AAA games has resulted in consoles and games being virtually identical.  They just can't afford to produce games for exclusive consoles without heavy subsidizes from the console manufacturers.

which is my point.

ps4 is cheaper, and lets me rent games (I use lovefilm to rent games. Probably play 50% off my games rented) and buy second hand. I am yet to see any compelling reasons to pick x1 instead of ps4. Halo 4 was not that good. I don’t like gears of war.

Anyone else seen the new free to play game SMITE? It's kinda like league of legends but with ancient gods and such. I was watching the ladz at achievement hunter play it and it looks pretty good, trying to (slowly) download it now.

I'm so sad still about Xbox. How could microsoft do so many things wrong? We're foaming at the mouth over a PS4 simply because they meet the "standard" for what consoles should be doing?

Good thing I can keep my Xbox 360 still. PS4 games look pretty good.

There are certainly some interesting games coming out in the next little bit. I'm curious how the Star Wars game franchise is going to turn out. EA"s done some good games in the past. They've also done some... less great ones.

Assassins creed pirates look interesting. I wonder if they'll keep the Animus or make this sort of a standalone thing.

Assassin's Creed jumped the shark after the second one.  Brotherhood was fun, but easy.  The issue currently is the apparent requirement that they produce a game a year, which is impossible to do without watering down the product (see Call of Duty...)

What? AC2 is awesome! AC1 and 3 played way too serious but AC2 was playful with the story, characters, setting, and locations!  I just hope black flag will capture that fun element that made AC2 great.

for the vita im sure!  :biggriin:

I'm really hoping they leave out the animus or make it a story telling device (these are the recorded memory logs of desmon miles or something instead of casting/writing modern time characters to shadow the animus story).

Ya thats what I'm hoping as well. Although I think theyve worked it in to such an extent that they wont want to cut it out compleatly. It could end up being a templar with Assassin ancestors but they've done that twist before.
